Patch coming for Assassin's Creed freezing problems
If you've been met with continual freezing while playing Assassin's Creed, never fear because Ubisoft is hard at work on an update to rectify the issue. It seems gamers are experiencing the freezing intermittently and not from the same point in the game."Following our recent statement regarding the freeze issues that some consumers are facing with Assassin's Creed on PlayStation 3, we can confirm that we are actively working on a game update," Ubisoft's UK community manager posted on its forums. "This update will help improve the stability of the game and will be released as soon as possible. In the meantime thank you for your ongoing feedback and patience."
It's great that Ubisoft is working on the fix so soon, but it's disappointing at the same time that gamers may have to wait weeks to be able to fully enjoy the game they spent their money on. These type of bugs should have been spotted and fixed long before the game was released to the public. Hopefully, Ubisoft says sorry by throwing us all some free downloadable content in addition to fixing the bug.

i.am having frezzing issues! I have put about 15 hours into this game on my PS3. It has frozen on me about 6 times. I think this is a great game and the graphics are stellar! It does have it's issues though. Repetive, slow frame rates,FREZZING! Also i can not find a patch for this game!
JohnD @ Nov 25th 2007 11:32AM
You know what I think? Ubisoft sucks. If this game was released months after the Xbox 360 version, it would be the same damn product that we have today with nothing fixed at all- A patch would be announced and 7 months later we'd still hear nothing about it untill the next big game comes. See Vegas.
I wonder how long we'll have to wait this time.
ClarkyCat @ Nov 25th 2007 11:09AM
Great, now howsabout a patch to make it look half as decent as the 360 version?
Sora57 @ Nov 25th 2007 11:24AM
I wonder if these freezing problems are related to the FW 2.01 "update" that came out at the same time.
Joe @ Nov 25th 2007 11:25AM
bah, i beat the game already.
Jldowning @ Nov 25th 2007 11:28AM
@1 It really does look the same, don't trust the side by side videos. Their TV's are set for the 360's picture and not the PS3's. My 360 (with friends AC) and my PS3 on the same TV switching back and forth looked EXACTLY the same.
Frame rate on the other hand... >.<

Had the problem once, I think. Other than that the game is awesome.
Henry @ Nov 25th 2007 11:32AM
Went back to the guild base at one point and had crippling frame rate slow down. At that point I was very happy that I was renting it from gamefly.
FixtSux @ Nov 25th 2007 11:37AM
Already beat it...I'd say the game froze on me about a half-dozen times.
Justin @ Nov 25th 2007 11:49AM
Game froze PLENTY before 2.01, but I think that fixed it for me....
Haven't frozen since then, AND have had much faster loading times in the 'white area' loading screen.
Vincent @ Nov 25th 2007 11:58AM
I'm glad I don't own it yet.
Broken Haiku @ Nov 25th 2007 11:57AM
I've only played it after 2.01, and I've had about 5-6 freezes, never in the same place. Love the game though, I can only agree about the framerate on the PS3 version, and that it seems to have vsync tearing issues.
organic_shadow @ Nov 25th 2007 12:16PM
I will piss my pants laughing if their patch ends up fixing the framerate issue.
Easo @ Nov 25th 2007 1:01PM
wasnt the ps3 the lead platform during this games developement?
Razorback @ Nov 25th 2007 1:14PM
Does anyone know if they can at least help the frame rate or plan to? The game was running fine until I played ten minutes into Jerusalem. The game went completely crazy and the frame rate was less than 10fps; even during cinematic story parts.
Pajama Party! @ Nov 25th 2007 1:44PM
For those complaining about the PS3 version's framerate issues: be aware that the 360 version displays the exact same framerate and tearing issues.
For everyone else: just be happy console games have progressed to a point where bug fixes can actually happen. If this had been a PS2 release we'd simply have to suck up and deal with the bug.
Popfrogs @ Nov 25th 2007 1:56PM
@15: If this was a PS2 game it wouldn't have these issues to start with. The 2 slowest games I ever played on the PS2 were Shadow of the Colossus and some junky tactics game. I still can't think of one PS2 game that froze the console multiple times.
Nothing says 'rushed release' like these problems.
john @ Nov 25th 2007 2:09PM
People still play this garbage?! This is, by far, the most repetitive and disappointing game of 2007. I have never, ever spent this much money on a piece of **** game like this before.
And to those who don't know, the Xbox version is far, far superior to PS3 (my version), color, graphic, everything is better on that one.
Dehshizknight @ Nov 25th 2007 2:15PM
I'm thinking about getting this game but there are far too many titles that I haven't bought yet. Besides, I'll probably get Unreal Tournament before buying any other games as of now due to financial issues...
leighmail @ Nov 25th 2007 3:45PM
I rented the 360 version before I bought the PS3 one, and they look pretty much the same (no major noticable differences once the TV was set up right, tested on the same HDTV), the 360 version does run a bit better (stayed in the double digit frames)and froze 3 times throughout the whole game (for no reason), the PS3 version about 8 (it freezes at random points within the first 5-10 minutes of playing it, after a restart I never have a problem), only seems to do it when the PS3 is cold....
I don't mean to be argumentive, but how is it any more repetitive than any other platformer, or shooter for that matter, which give you little more variety than the type/speed of the lead you want to head towards your enemy (I do like shooters). At least you're killing a minimum of 10 different people and there's half-decent physics/animations (can't say that about alot of games).
Joey_Numbers @ Nov 26th 2007 6:55AM
How do you guys count the framerate?
kentuckyfried @ Nov 25th 2007 5:18PM
I've heard repeatedly that the ps3 version has a better framerate...?
Justin @ Nov 25th 2007 5:45PM
@ 21, i dont notice any framerate problems.
it did freeze a couple times, but as of 2.01, i never had any problems
PGAGolf3r @ Nov 25th 2007 9:07PM
I don't own the game, so I don't know how frequent the freezes are, and not trying to promote my own gaming habits, but. Isn't this was The Gamer Advisory Panel is for. (yes, I'm in GAP) We could beta test these games for, shoot, 2 weeks before they go gold, and it would help a ton to prevent this kinda stuff. We still had issues w/ Warhawk, sure, but it was alot better once released, than it was in beta version.
Ed @ Nov 25th 2007 8:25PM
Of course, now that i say something, i go and get off to play the game and it freezes. Reset, and played an additional hour or so afterwards without problems, though.
mrfrieze @ Nov 25th 2007 10:29PM
But can the patch make the game fun?
linebeginstoblur @ Nov 25th 2007 11:30PM
I rented the game and it only froze once for me and it rarely ever had horrible framerate. It actually froze twice, but the first time, it froze during installation, but that was because I was dangerously low on free disk space. I need to start saving up for a new HDD...
linebeginstoblur @ Nov 25th 2007 11:34PM
@23, I think that would only be for games published by Sony Computer Entertainment. I'm a member of GAP too, but I never get picked for betas, and I've been a member for almost two years now.
Atlas83 @ Nov 26th 2007 4:50AM
I personally am loving the game the frame rate i have never noticed it to drop in any substantial way the graphics look great.... HOWEVER! it has frozen on my at least 3-4 times and im at less than half of the game it is quite frustrating.. Not really a deal breaker fir me but still very annoying..
L @ Nov 26th 2007 6:52AM
@2 I have got to play both games and it looks miles better on the 360 0_o
As for a patch emmm what about the % of people who don,t play online =S
O and for you all waiting on the PS3 version of Orange Box LMAO at you ^___^
*PS3 version was apparently the responsibility of a team at EA.* Dear god
Byron517 @ Nov 26th 2007 9:39AM
Its a matter of opinion because even the websites can't even come to terms on what looks better, some say the Xbox version looks better others say the PS3 looks better, I don't know.. personally I think the game was a bit flaw'd from the jump.. but whatever
