PS3 Poll Police: See anyone grabbing PS3's lately?

The Poll Police are back from stuffing their predominantly American faces with food and napping for unnaturally lengthy periods of time and want to know if you braved the roads the day after Thanksgiving. Nothing else seems too important the past week, so we want to check and see if a rumor going around the internet is true -- have PS3's been flying off the shelves for this holiday season? Scouts, report!
That's all you have to do and we'll process the data and get back to you next week. If you're curious about last week's poll, feel free to take the jump, although if you're a diehard Sony fanboy, you might get a little weepy. We didn't though, as it was a fair decision the masses came to.

Fair decision, all right! We knew the PS3 didn't have a stellar first year, as it was constantly bashed by the press, media, and consumers alike. In addition to this, Sony themselves refused to fully acknowledge some of their shortcomings initially. As the year progressed, Sony began to grow humble and listen to their customers, games started to get released, and the press backed off when they realized the PS3 is a huge media hub ... and for the most part, the other systems weren't getting too many games either (360 won that award, though, with several highly anticipated games). Or not. That's just the opinion of the Poll Police. Clearly, most of you thought that this wasn't a great year, but split pretty evenly on the way Sony turned it around. However, the obvious conclusion is this: the PS3 will just get better from here. Thanks for voting!

The poll needs a sixth option:
I did not go out shopping on Black Friday.
Who wants to deal with the chaos? I did buy an extra controller off of amazon.com though.
motorer @ Nov 25th 2007 5:25PM
I work at Wal-Mart and we're having the 'buy an 80GB ps3, get 10 free blu-ray movies' deal. We sold our whole stock of 80s yesterday (i think that was about 5-6 systems). People were driving over 100 miles to our store to get them because all the other wal marts in the area were sold out too.
Andy @ Nov 25th 2007 5:31PM
I don't pay attention to this as I already have a PS3.
Why would you return a product on the busiest day of the year?
You'd have to be insane. Just like the people that chose...
Darkdrium777 @ Nov 25th 2007 5:34PM
I'm canadian so there's no Black Friday over here, but I did see a guy and his buddy walk in FutureShop half an hour ago and grab an 80GB with Heavenly Sword (since there was no Warhawk at the store) while I was looking for UT3 collector edition (Which I have found).
Too bad he didn't get Warhawk, or I would have given him my PSN XD.
Andy @ Nov 25th 2007 5:34PM
Why did you have to drag Thanksgiving into this?
Jason @ Nov 25th 2007 5:39PM
Not really related to "black friday" but once the price drop was announced on the 80gb to 499 it was just before payday here in korea (servicemember).
They had 6 80gbs and 4 60gbs on the shelf at the PX (gets american stock).
two days after paid day. entire store was sold out. This was just after the 15th of Nov.
dicknjane @ Nov 25th 2007 6:48PM
wow, if you guys have to make a poll to see if you've seen anyone buy a PS3, then you know your system isn't selling. LAME!!
dicknjane @ Nov 25th 2007 6:51PM
oh ya, by the way, i saw 12 PS3 bundles of Rock Band sitting around at my Walmart at the end of Black Friday and all but 1 PS3's still there, while the 360 version of Rock Band was sold out and only 1 360 was still there.
argle @ Nov 25th 2007 6:56PM
Wow, dicknjane, if you have to make an account and post on ps3fanboy when you're clearly sticking your genitals in your xbox you must really suck at life!
lame!

That chick in the gray sweater is kinda hot.
bluesky_v2.01 @ Nov 25th 2007 7:02PM
Darkdrium777,
I checked just yesterday and it seems like neither bestbuy or futureshop have Warhawk. Weird is you ask me.
organic_shadow @ Nov 25th 2007 7:04PM
It needs another option: 'lot's of people buying them' without the sold out remark. I see lots of people buying/holding them etc. at various retail stores over the past few days, but none except target were sold out that I noticed.
Maximilian Lockwood @ Nov 25th 2007 7:28PM
I am actually working at a Best Buy now and the PS3s are selling at a much faster rate than 360s or Wiis.
Big Time @ Nov 25th 2007 7:32PM
@ justin..... Ha Ha I was just thinking the same thing
Hoffer @ Nov 25th 2007 7:56PM
I was in a Best Buy yesterday for about 30 minutes. I saw a display of 40 GB PS3s in the gaming section. I also saw a display of 80 GB PS3s more towards the front of the store. I didn't see anyone buying one, but it wasn't nearly as busy as I thought it would be.
I was in there to buy one of those digital picture frames for my mother.
Sammy @ Nov 25th 2007 9:08PM
I was tempted by a digital picture frame for my mum too. She looked at them with admiration when I dragged them round PC world.
I have to agree this poll is a bit silly...surely the figures wil be out soon.
Still it is better news than this time last year.
Darkdrium777 @ Nov 25th 2007 9:13PM
@dicknjane: Really if you have nothing but flame bait to post, don't post it. It just proves the fact that you are an Xbot, and that you have absolutely no life at all except for trying to insult people who have a different product than the one you seem to adore so intensely. Find another website that corresponds better to the religion you have blindly adopted. :/
@bluesky_2.01: indeed this is weird... Maybe they've sold out and the shipments are taking too long? I haven't asked the guy with whom they were looking for Warhawk (And incidentally I as well) but he didn't seem to think it wasn't abnormal to be out of stock. Hopefully they will restock soon.
Just out of curiosity, where do you live? Because I live in Montreal and if you happen to live in Quebec (Or anywhere else in Canada)it might be something bigger than a store running out...
bluesky_v2.01 @ Nov 25th 2007 9:28PM
Darkdrium777,
I live in Toronto, but it's not just one store. The game is not on the website, which means its something more serious. They don't normally take the item off the website is one store runs out.
Not that I really care that much, there's always ebGames. But still . . .
Popfrogs @ Nov 25th 2007 9:28PM
@8: Those 360's weren't sold out, they just had 1 left after the others RRoD'd and got exchanged.
Budman @ Nov 25th 2007 10:07PM
I stopped by Wal-Mart today and they were sold out of both the 60 and 80 GB PS3's but oddly, the 40 GB's were readily available. Preference to backwards compatibility over price, perhaps?
YouFaceTheTick @ Nov 26th 2007 5:04PM
Probably. Why people would ever want to play a PS2 game again is incomprehensible to me.
mrfrieze @ Nov 25th 2007 10:16PM
Just down load the game off of psn the bluetooth is junk anyways. Then you can play now. The psn has plenty of stock. lol.
maskedrose @ Nov 25th 2007 10:28PM
I could not walk in the PSP or PS3 section at bestbuy. SOOO CHAOTIC!! I went thinking I could get some cheap 20 dollar psp games and hook myself up with an early xmas gift and get a ps3 game.... So crowded and sold out of stuff I ended up just buying some ps2 greatest hits games.
Who Flang Poo @ Nov 25th 2007 10:44PM
I didnt see anything out of the ordinary for PS3 just a few being sold here and there, but bestbuy and gamestop had lines going out side and people walking out with Wii's and 360's. I never made it in time tho because I was gonna pick up a 360 for my 3 nephews but the were sold out every where and so were the Wii's.
J Pinearo @ Nov 25th 2007 11:29PM
I'll definitely smash shorty in the grey hoody with the red shirt underneath...I'm just saying
jskube84 @ Nov 25th 2007 11:45PM
Over here in Iraq we really dont have black friday but at the PX they cant keep PS3's and Wii's in stock. Xbox 360's are always laying around. We do seem to get a steady stream of 60 gigs out here though. So if you want BC enlist!
amish.gramish @ Nov 25th 2007 11:48PM
At the Best Buy I worked at, there were a lot of PS3s sold, but more 360s, because GH2 was given away free with them.
There seemed to be more PS3s sold today then on Friday...
I think PS3's are selling at the same rate as 360s if not faster.
And the Wiis sell out a couple days after we get them, but the reason they sell so well is because most of the people I see buying them don't play games...
Jeremy @ Nov 26th 2007 12:39AM
I saw myself walking out with a 40G. Does that count?
Snutz @ Nov 26th 2007 1:49AM
Just picked up my PS3 a week ago on Monday at Kmart using a 20% off coupon. Had to call about 10 different stores to find one that had the 80GB model in stock, but that was back on Monday so I'm guessing they were all waiting on new shipments for BF.
kentuckyfried @ Nov 26th 2007 4:14AM
@3
Believe it or not, there was a long line of retards waiting in the Fry's return line on Black Friday...
I saw at least one person studying an xbox 360 box, but not looking at the ps3 at all. =( I wanted to say something but didn't want to look like one of those crazy ps3 people. =D
rawd @ Nov 26th 2007 9:12AM
A few people I know , including myself (i got the 80 gig), picked up PS3s these past few weeks. My friends and I were waiting for the price drop, good thing we all waited :)
HektikLyfe @ Nov 26th 2007 12:36PM
I spent hours at Best Buy yesterday, you can't help it with the crowds. I didn't see a single PS3 sold. I did see stacks of them in piles in different areas though so they aren't out of stock.
Our store in Montclair, California (if you fanboys/doubters wish to confirm) was smart enough to break down some of those stacks and spread them out through the isles. Near the music CD's there was an entire row of PS3's lined accross the row. This was at the end of the day too.
I bought this system at its most expensive and I want it to succeed so I'm not intentionally being negative.
maskedrose @ Nov 26th 2007 5:40PM
I think that Best Buy is on an XBOX promo binge, just like Circuit City. You go into Best Buy, they don't promote the PS3 and keep it in a little area next to a small selection of games kept behind a glass counter. The xbox gets its own isle of neatly sorted games and accessories.
Circuit city... all playstation accessories, from psp to ps2 and ps3 are shoved into one section, followed by a shitty selection of ps2 and psp games. I couldn't find the ps3 games. Supposedly kept behind a glass counter, that I could not locate. Again, Xbox gets its own section, with some of its items showcased in the playstation isle. HMMMMMMM.
HMMMMM..
Seems a little bit... biased?
I think so.
Stores like Walmart, gamestop, k mart, etc who seem to be selling PS3s like hotcakes have a very unbiased selection. All of the games are given equal attention, and usually the displays are not put together with any real thought. Games and accessories are stocked, not showcased... One can pick and choose without some sort of influence in the background...
Leo @ Nov 26th 2007 3:47PM
I've been noticing a few going out the door recently, though I didn't go shopping on Black Friday. I did notice fewer PS3s when I went hunting for Assassin's Creed (I had to go to 4 different stores to find a PS3 copy!).
Big Time @ Nov 26th 2007 6:00PM
I was at my local Target today. they had a ton of 40 and 80 gigs. But I cant find a dam PSP anywhere!!
