Midway announces UT3 ship date
Mark Rein has once again kept his word. After saying that we'd receive Unreal Tournament 3 before the year ends, last week, Rein proclaimed the game would be in stores as early as Dec. 11. Today, Midway confirmed that as it announced the game will be shipping to retailers on Dec. 10.
After the unfortunate delays of The Orange Box and Haze, it's great that we'll have a decent FPS to look forward to this holiday season. We're pretty confident that, unlike EA and Valve, Epic will ensure its game runs as smoothly as possible on the PS3.

This game looks pretty cool. But I am broke after buying Uncharted and Assasins Creed. Is anyone else kinda disappointed in Assasins Creed. I mean the game is fine, but I thought it was gonna be better. Maybe one of my relatives will get me Unreal for Christmas.
rawd @ Nov 26th 2007 11:42AM
Is UT3 multiplayer only? Does it have a campaign mode?
Leo @ Nov 26th 2007 3:50PM
It has an "expansive" single-player mode as well.

1-Q1 2008.
PC version is nice. Interesting to see how it looks on the PS3.
I would like to here EA explain a lame Orange Box if this game runs soundly on the PS3.

@1: Please stop forgetting that the PS3 is region free and that you can import games from the US on release date if you want to.
killazz @ Nov 26th 2007 11:59AM
@ post 1 Im guessing in 08 for europe.
@ post 2 yes it has a campaign.
goodnews for ps3 mines starving for a game and this looks like the game that will get me to turn the thing on
Dougal @ Nov 26th 2007 12:10PM
@Popfrogs: Please stop forgetting that a US PS3 game might not work with EU DLC and depending how the servers are set-up might not let you play with the rest of your EU buddies (e.g. Motorstorm, on both counts).
Tahiri @ Nov 26th 2007 2:55PM
Please stop forgetting you can make a US account
Phizzy @ Nov 27th 2007 2:45AM
DLC costs money. Most people in Europe don't have American credit cards lying around.
Byron517 @ Nov 26th 2007 12:22PM
Yes I was really worried this wasn't going to come out till 08 but now I'm confident that this is going to turn heads this xmas!! I'm liking this new look!!
lee.cash @ Nov 26th 2007 12:28PM
@ Popfrogs.
There is also something nice about being able to purchase the game in a shop on the day of its release instead of waiting four or five days for it to be delivered.
To answer the question: I believe Feb. 2008 was mentioned on this very site in the past in relation to a UTIII European release date.

Not when you're in Europe and you get everything 2 or 3 months later. That's the point I was trying to make.

I love UT, and have enjoyed prior iterations of it. I am so knee deep in Call of Duty 4 though, having to play 2 multiplayer games is going to be difficult. But a plethora of games to play has never stopped me before.
Byron517 @ Nov 26th 2007 12:38PM
I wonder how the campaign is going to play out?
Aaron @ Nov 26th 2007 1:07PM
Awesome news! For all those worried how it will run on the PS3 fear not! and check out this video http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3163818 :)

This is very good news. I was hoping that the estimated ship date would be confirmed. I'm changing my pre-order from haze to UT3 today
Heman @ Nov 26th 2007 1:47PM

Matt B @ Nov 26th 2007 2:14PM

Leo @ Nov 26th 2007 3:51PM
I don't know what the big deal about this game is. Sure, it looks good, but I don't know much about it other than it's a sequel to an FPS. Is there something special I should know about?
Justin @ Nov 26th 2007 4:34PM
Wow. I didn't know there was a new comment/ rating system.
Anyways, cool. Definitely picking this up.
Julio @ Nov 26th 2007 6:09PM
can't wait to pick this up, if you wanna play me my psn name is Ohhthegore
Darkdrium777 @ Nov 26th 2007 6:52PM
For all those worrying about the campaign, trust me, it's much better than UT2004's and previous campaign. And the off colour commentaries of your team mates during the action just make this game so much fun. I've barely started it and I'm already hooked.
And this is not including the fact that you can do coop campaign online up to four players (and probably offline up to four on the PS3), the great action in deathmatch, capture the FLaG (You'll know why I wrote it that way when you play the first CTF match in campaign XD), and especially Warfare, both offline and online.
The insane graphics just add to the awesomeness, even on a nVidia 7800 GTO (Which my friend has, and the PS3's RSX being based off that GPU series... You get the point :) Expect it to look really good on the PS3)
frankym @ Nov 26th 2007 7:10PM
Looks like this game will be excellent....you can see that there has been a serious amount of effort and quality put into it.
tmbacsa @ Nov 26th 2007 8:46PM
