- There's a new building in the world, although it's currently one that can't be entered
- You are finally able to enter your Home Space's patio
- You can now use your own pictures in your Home Space
- A game launching option has been added, though it is not functioning completely at the present time
- The cinema's movie theatres have transferred from the second floor to the first floor
- America, Japan, and Europe each have their own server now

so will people in america be able to hang out with people from asia and europe?
Richard Comegys @ Nov 27th 2007 6:53PM
This is a big area of concern for me. I live in Japan and don't want to be stuck in the Japanese Home area. Sony promised us a global console, and so far it's the main reason I love my PS3. When I am recruiting for my Rock Band, I don't to be limited to Japan.

I've heard a couple rumors that the HOME beta will go public on this Thursday's PSN update.
Maybe this is update is the version the rest of the world will get on Thursday?
Anyways, I'm glad they're not forgetting about HOME...and I want to get involved ASAP.
I hope the Nov. 29 rumor isn't just a rumor.
Oh and @ Andrew...in the first bullet, did you mean "can't" be entered?
Seminole @ Nov 27th 2007 11:05AM
I hope so.
I'm sick of the beta testers getting all the fun!
pasteymofo @ Nov 27th 2007 12:34PM
*sigh* I think there's a rumor that flies around every week of it being released with the PSN update.
The beta isn't coming 'til 2008. Enough with the rumors already.
drdre74 @ Nov 27th 2007 11:42AM
this will be a great Week if we can get the beta. I'm just tired of hearing about Home. I'm ready to mess around with it a little.
rawd @ Nov 27th 2007 11:01AM
I want to be part of the beta too, hopefully this happens on PSN
Sora57 @ Nov 27th 2007 11:03AM
I have heard across the board that the PS2 upscaling in FW 2.01 is much worse now. This stinks and is the main reason I am not updating the FW on my 60g PS3.
B1gC72 @ Nov 27th 2007 2:34PM
dude this is a Home Beta update. it has nothing to do with the general Firmware update. i havent heard anything about th upscaling problems that your talking about though. i havent benn playing PS2 games on my PS3 so i wouldnt even be able to test it out since i have nothing to compare to.
Frank @ Nov 27th 2007 11:04AM
Is it just me, or has interest in Home dropped tremendously over the past few months? I see like once post every other month regarding home now.
ClarkyCat @ Nov 27th 2007 11:23AM
I've been thinking the same thing... I remember back when it was announced it was hailed as the saviour for the PS3 (it was doing particularly bad at the time), not just by PS3 fans but by the majority of press coverage too.
Interest does seem to have waned in the last few months, but I think that's really down to the number of top quality games that have been all out recently. I think once the holiday rush is over it might get bigger headlines, although the MGS4 hype will have started then so who knows!
Christian @ Nov 27th 2007 11:12AM
There should be a correction in the post, the building cannot be entered.
Chris Rah Osiris @ Nov 27th 2007 11:18AM
If the 29th Rumor turns out to be true, I'll be very happy. I'm glad that they are still improving home
Broken Haiku @ Nov 27th 2007 11:28AM
Cool, a new building that can be entered!
JodyAnthony (Good Eats Defense Force) @ Nov 27th 2007 11:44AM
I am also sick of hearing about it. Let me in, Sorny!
ted @ Nov 27th 2007 11:53AM
I can wait, slick it real nice Sony, so that I'm not so disapointed.
DEMAN @ Nov 27th 2007 11:53AM
Does this mean public version? I hope it does!
Wonderflex @ Nov 27th 2007 11:53AM
I agree. I would freak out, in a good way, if we could get Home this week; even if it's just a beta. The only downside is that if it gets out too early people will slam it like they did Uncharted.
Byron517 @ Nov 27th 2007 12:09PM
How can anybody slam Uncharted!? That game is by far one of the best for the PS3!! Personally with the HOME I think its being kept under wraps I honestly feel it will be out sometime after the holiday, I'm thinking Jan or Feb..
Brian Spence @ Nov 27th 2007 12:14PM
I gotta ask who's slamming Uncharted too. That game is one of the best games I've ever played, period.
Phizzy @ Nov 27th 2007 1:35PM
He's probably referring to the clunky E3 Demo.
Wonderflex @ Nov 27th 2007 3:36PM
vI’m referring to the comments, I believe by the designers of the game, that people slammed it’s controls and AI based off the E3 demo, when it wasn’t even complete yet. Then they fixed it up and it was loved. I feel that if Home is given to all too early it could end up getting the same fate, where people slam it even though it isn’t complete.
Jtenma @ Nov 27th 2007 12:40PM
One reason why I think the hype has gone down alot these past few months is beause....well no one (ahem*cough) really has had a chance to test drive the damn thing, no one can invite their friends to it because their friends probably dont have it...
So it becomes boring since you cant experience it with a buddy...
Its supposed to be a social virtual world...but how do you test something out like this with out lots of people? What..do you pull a Warhawk (love the game by the way) and all of a sudden the servers are on fire because they tested them without really knowing just how bad it would get...?!!?
Elliott @ Nov 27th 2007 1:04PM
Wonderflex is referring to how the original Unchartered demo was shown a long time ago and many people said it looked terrible (including this blog). Since the final version has been released it has been praised, but people have wondered if the game would have been even bigger if it had not shown the unfinished game before it was finished.
I agree, it would be bad for Home if people hated the beta, even if the final version turned out pretty good.
Popfrogs @ Nov 27th 2007 4:10PM
That's one of those damned-if-you-do situations. They wanted to get the game out there and get people talking, but no matter how many disclaimers you hand out, the press attacks games like a rabid horde of hyenas. Basically, if you bring something to a show, it better be a week away from going gold or the press will destroy you.
JaseH @ Nov 27th 2007 1:31PM
Some here are saying the interest in Home has declined recently...
But I disagree. I think alot of people are so eager to try the damn thing out, that they've become hyped & excited.
Most are waiting for information, and once it hits, they're onto it in seconds.
Its just like food. Show a big fat juicy steak to a pile of fat people, and take it away. Tell them they'll have it soon.... they'd probably go nuts, wanting it NOW.
This delay was great both ways in my view. Its given time for Sony to work more solutions & ideas into Home, while it has the chance... since let's face it... 07 isn't really the PS3's "Online demanding year"...
2008 will certainly welcome it.
Secondly, it's generated interest, and eager-to-try fans.
Just my two cents.

i would certainly like to participate in the Home Beta though. i wish they would open it back up again so i can test out this update stuff.
kentuckyfried @ Nov 27th 2007 4:09PM
lol...for a long time, I wasn't aware that there was any Home beta testing going on b/c the website makes it sound like it hasn't even started in the U.S.-->
http://www.homebetatrial.com/
But anyhow, I do hope we can all get a taste of it, as incomplete as it might be. I just want to see what it really looks like on the screen, even if it's just an avatar walking around with no interactivity. Well, ok, some interactivity might be good to help turn on the Sony hype machine.
kentuckyfried @ Nov 27th 2007 4:09PM
Also, I don't know why people would inanely slam Uncharted back in its E3 release. How many months ago was that? Of course it wasn't complete! At least it wasn't like Lair, where coming upon release date originally, the controls weren't even working, and they had to delay by a few months (which still didn't save them unfortunately).
The Aggie CEO @ Nov 27th 2007 4:03PM
I NEEEEEED this to be finish soon........
hell a beta is cool and all.........but it would be nice if WE could test it too
Andy @ Nov 27th 2007 6:43PM
As someone who has people on my buddy list in it, it started in America months ago. However its limited to only a handful of individuals.
The people that read gaming websites/blogs are the minority of gamers. If you have half a brain you'll know how this applies.
Dehshizknight @ Nov 27th 2007 7:07PM
Yes! Closer to completion. I'm not exactly mad about the delays. Whatever it takes to make it the best experience for us. Yes, I know most of you guys don't mind the flaws but, since it is free, they will get a heavy hit when this comes out (just look at Warhawk, it was $40 and servers were pretty slow).
Making the world bigger will be essential to prevent overcrowding especially if they have a limited amount of servers.
leviizme @ Nov 29th 2007 12:33PM
home will be the greatest thing on the network i think come on sony hurry up

I am in the Beta and lets just say at the moment HOME is nothing to hail. The new building is pink (breast cancer?) idk. Also when you try to load pictures from your hd HOME always crashes. Really, right now you guys are not missing out on anything special so do not fret.
