Sony called most green games company by Greenpeace
Do you love the earth? How about the PSP and PS3? Good, because your loves are one and the same. Sony is called the most green games manufacturer by environmental group Greenpeace. Sony scored an impressive 7.3 from the organization, making it the third most green company in the list. Compare that to Microsoft at 2.7 and Nintendo at a shocking 0. Sony fans certainly can be proud of their company's efforts to truly go green.

Don't support Greenpeace. Don't support yellow journalism.
Autobon @ Nov 27th 2007 1:30PM
Greenpeace.............lol. Wow, is this the best article you could find? I want something interesting!

I would love for those that say that they despise Greenpeace to articulate their hate, preferably in list format.
I personally admire Greenpeace and do not understand where the hate for them comes from.
Brello @ Nov 27th 2007 1:59PM
I'm too lazy to bullet it. Here's an article that touches on a few reasons why Greenpeace's actions don't match their intentions. http://www.highnorth.no/Library/Movements/Greenpeace/ge-ar-gr.htm
Obviously there's far more examples, but I'm sure you can dig them up. They're just rather corrupt. Also, they support Earth First, which is a known eco-terrorist group.
required @ Nov 27th 2007 2:44PM
Eco-terrorists? Are you serious?
In my opinion a sane person would use that label for organizations such as Monsanto, or say Exxon not Greenpeace. By the way, that article reads like a rant written and endorsed by the whaling industry which I presume highnorth.no is or am I missing something?
Brello @ Nov 27th 2007 4:17PM
Don't like Forbes Magazine articles? Fine. Read the wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_Greenpeace and check out their references. They've got some good ideas, but their execution needs lots of work.
Pilch @ Nov 28th 2007 7:04AM
@ Brello: you've linked to a page dated November 11, 1991. Perhaps with more recent references it will be easy to see why you think they are critizised now.
Bearing in mind that Greenpeace annoys governments, industry and political lobbyists, is easy that someone forming part of these groups writes an article on Wikipedia. Which carries a warning sign of caution right at the top of the article.

i want a better world. this state was born on manipulation and greed.
you can never trust media therefore you can never trust anything at all. we just live our lives feeling bad for one another working hat 9 to 5 just so we can remember what important in life. "bills" thats what it comes down to money...
we make it to spend it to give out and the next day another media report. just pile of crap on top of more crap. where will it end who knows. at least some people are trying to make a better world. whom i dont know. and yes sadly money will always be the drive of it all.
pixelator @ Nov 27th 2007 4:00PM
Notice the .no suffix on the anti-Greenpeace link... Norway. As in major whaling industry Norway. In fact, in the About Us section of that website, they acknowledge that the website is a coop with, shock, the Norwegian Whaler's Union.
Doesn't take a genius to see where THAT severely biased slant is coming from.
I think it's funny how this gets chided/downplayed while the latest cheeseball Wii racket and brown-metallic DS color get raves and applause from the Weblogs community...
Brello @ Nov 27th 2007 4:12PM
Source: Forbes, November 11, 1991. By Leslie Spencer with Jan Bollwerk and Richard C. Morais. It was just a Forbes magazine article that they happened to publish on their website. Just like how this website posts stories from other sources.
pixelator @ Nov 27th 2007 4:23PM
As I said, biased slant. Cite a Norwegian Whaling website for a criticism of Greenpeace and you're going to get holes shot in your theory.
All organziations are flawed. I'd rather support the flawed organization trying to SAVE endangered species, rainforests, etc. than the ones trying to kill and destroy same in the name of industry.
pixelator @ Nov 27th 2007 4:34PM
And btw - Forbes = Big Business Interests. That includes the cosmetics and oil products that stem from whaling.
People who are interested in an unbiased view of environmental groups like Greenpeace don't go looking for that in FORBES.
Autobon @ Nov 27th 2007 4:46PM
pixelator,
just take a moment and listen to yourself. This is what you sound like, "I dont care if its true that greenpeace is flawed, at least they are flawed and carry my beliefs"
Great man, brilliant. Also, if you actually know anything about greenpeace, you would know that their CO-FOUNDER said that they purposely created myths and lies to try to prove their point. And because he was upset with what they have become, he quit. So its funny how you come back and say this article is from a whaling company, blah blah blah. Just shows how ignorant you are about things.
Also, in case you know anything else about greenpeace, let me enlighten you. Did you know they are the biggest enviromental group in the world. Ya, they have tons of money and invest it in their interests. So for you to make fun of the "big business intersts" Forbes company as you put it, is totally hypocritical, since your greenpeace heroes do the same thing.
Please go educate yourself about this stuff pixelator.
JKPierce @ Nov 27th 2007 7:31PM
Flawed like our justice system is flawed? Flawed like our Medicare system is flawed? Flawed like our two-party political system is flawed?
If it was conceived by humanity, it is flawed by default. Nothing in perception is perfect; we get by on what works best.
Autobon @ Nov 27th 2007 8:53PM
JkPierce,
First off, this disscussion is not about government, medicare, or whatever else you want to bring up. Its about greenpeace, so please keep it reletive.
Also, if you think every thing "concieved" by humanity is flawed, then you are contradicting yourself. Because that would mean that YOUR view that everything is flawed, is also flawed.
Random1448 @ Nov 27th 2007 6:20PM
Although I hate green peace, yea! sony
LAZoftheTamarinds @ Nov 27th 2007 7:14PM
That's really great! I knew Sony would be the best out of the 3 since they opended those recycle places for your old consoles.
Oh and CAPTAIN PLANET FTW!
Bryan @ Nov 27th 2007 9:06PM
we are just destorying ourselves. at least someone is trying to point that out. at the same time no one cares. i know i should but dont pay much attention. i cant go cold turkey on life. i dont have money to get that hybrid car, change all my lights. i want to make a better world i do really. but its so hard to not enjoy life.
Bryan @ Nov 27th 2007 9:21PM
what does ftw mean??? im so stupid. isnt wtf?
LAZoftheTamarinds @ Nov 27th 2007 10:00PM
I'm pretty sure it means "For The Win". And if not then what the hell have I been posting!?
demasque @ Nov 28th 2007 3:44AM
Yeesh, I'm sick of the modern boogey-man that is enviornmental hysteria. I bought a PSP because it's well designed and has the type of games I want to play.
I don't care a whit for their 'GQ' (green quota).
CcoconutBoy @ Nov 28th 2007 10:55AM
Nintendo's 0 score is very misleading. Greenpeace didn't have any info on Nintendo, so instead of leaving them out of the thing altogether, they just gave them a 0.
