Golden Axe screenshots reveal swords and dragons

Sega once made a game now legendary in arcades -- Golden Axe. In the age of 2D side-scrolling brawlers, it reigned supreme. Arguably. Way back in last May, Sega announced plans to bring Golden Axe to the newest generation of consoles but have been silent ever since. They have been working on a lot of other things, so we imagined the title fell by the wayside. Seems that at long last, Sega is making progress. We present these screenshots to you for your inspection. All the weird fantasy elements are there, but we've no idea how the game will play. So until then, get your cosplay on.

I heard that you can't play as the dwarf ax battler dude ; (
he was my favorite character, but I will still get this game for the nostalgic factor. I wish that sega will bring back street of rage also.

dear god, that streets of rage comment is the smartest thing ive ever heard (or read) about anything from anyone.
Golden Axe has great potential and i hope it lives up. it was already a great game, just making the leap 3D is the obstacle. same with Streets of Rage.

Streets of Rage = best Genesis game soundtrack of all time. I loved that game.

yea hopefully the up the graphics on this cause they could get an extra sales boost based on the nostalgic value as long as it looks and plays good.

Looks as good as Conan.
Which means it looks pretty bad.
Hopefully these are just some renders, and not actual game screenshots, and the final game might look better than that. Because right now it just screams "cheap multi-platform port", and that's too bad, because I have a friend who's a huge fan of these games.
