Operation: Omega Dawn expansion for Warhawk revealed
InsideGamer has somehow unearthed images from the upcoming Warhawk expansion, Operation: Omega Dawn. The screenshots reveal a brand new vehicle: the KT-424 Combat Dropship transports 1 pilot, 6 soldiers and 1 ground vehicle and includes a new weapon, the MBEC-3 Heavy Support Cannon. A new level, the Omega Battlefield, will include 5 map layouts.
Screenshots also reveal new lighting for the older levels, and new nighttime missions sound too good to pass up. Hopefully, we'll get more details of this upcoming expansion soon.

This looks totally stunning!!!! I cannot wait!
Larz @ Nov 30th 2007 2:05PM
I agree, this is a great day for Warhawk fans.
It's awesome that they listen to feedback too. I suggested a while back that they should add time-of-day settings in the next expansion, including night time.
elephant_stone @ Nov 29th 2007 1:24PM
Looks way darker and more seedy :) cool!
All I need now is collectable paracutes/ejector seats and I will be happy :)
RatBoy @ Nov 29th 2007 1:25PM
The dropship is a lot prettier then I thought it was gonna be, especially at night.
The new map looks sweet/scary. I wonder how the nighttime conditions will effect game play. It certainly looks tre atmospherique.
I can't wait... now if only a release date and pricing would drop I could get myself into the appropriate tizzy.
Dougal @ Nov 29th 2007 2:15PM
The linked site suggests a (provisional) release date of 20th Dec at a price of 5.99 Euro - according to the Bablefish translation from Dutch! I have no idea how reliable this information is and what that might mean for you guys over the pond. Going on how SCEE has been screwing us over on DLC, you'll probably get it a couple of weeks earlier for a couple of dollars :-[
Livi70590 @ Nov 29th 2007 6:03PM
As for the dropship, anyone else thinking it looks like Ratchet & Clank 3/UYA's craft of the same name?
Livi70590 @ Nov 29th 2007 6:07PM
^ Scratch that.
Akamaru @ Nov 29th 2007 1:27PM
WOW! This is what I'm talking about. Sorry CoD4, I still love you but in all fairness, I knew Warhawk first and we are re-kindling the flame.
Organic_Shadow @ Nov 29th 2007 1:29PM
If you guys go to the link and look through the screens you'll notice that EACH SIDE gets their own dropship. They both seem to be the same model, but are skinned differently for each team, and the color of the lasers....or whatever.... coming out of the cannons are different. (purple and red)
Pretty cool. Why don't other games have night maps?
Adam @ Nov 29th 2007 2:07PM
I've been playing CoD 4 alot online recently, I was starting a round of Warhawk, and I just found it too slow. However, this expansion should get me back to Warhawk
RatBoy @ Nov 29th 2007 1:37PM
I remember a playstation blog post a while back about a release with several, very small, layouts for the existing maps. Does anyone know if those are being released with this expansion as well or are they coming in another patch? (or are they already here and I'm just not paying attention?)
Jason @ Nov 29th 2007 1:38PM
This looks sweet. If they release stuff like this on a regular basis Warhawk could keep my interest for a long time.
It would be awesome if a future DL allowed the host to choose conditions like day/night, weather, etc. for all maps.
Adam @ Nov 29th 2007 3:36PM
Yeh, if they could keep up with the updates like Motorstorm is (another vehicle pack released last week) although I would assume it would have to sell some more before they would consider working on more stuff. Currently it has sold about 350,000 at retail, so I would expect over 500,000 worldwide, but lets hope they do concentrate on adding more stuff. (I'm looking for more maps, more weapons, more vehicles, more planes (a heavy bomber as well as the new dropship), fuly customisable skins, some single player missions, and boats) I would guess if they kept up the updates, a re-release could happen next year for all the DLC
@ Rat boy the maps were part of the 1.2 patch, they should be out this month too
Just me.. @ Nov 29th 2007 1:40PM
hmm.. i got the disc version... now what? hey fanboy find out if PSN cards are in the works too!
Byron517 @ Nov 29th 2007 1:41PM
this looks amazing!! I can't wait!!
Ryan @ Nov 29th 2007 1:41PM
The drop ship adds a lot more options for using strategy and team work. Unfortunately most games I've been in everyone just does their own thing.
Akamaru @ Nov 29th 2007 4:42PM
I completely agree. It's like everyone just want to get kills, kills and more kills. I always offer to play a supportive role (like guard the flag or man the turret) to try and promote some teamwork.
Kohath @ Nov 29th 2007 1:45PM
This game is awesome, but playing it makes my eyeballs dry out. Seriously. It's something to do with not blinking, I guess.
The night modes aren't going to help.
Solace @ Nov 29th 2007 1:57PM
between Warhawk and COD4, i feel like i'm dating two really hot models and can't decide which one to be faithful to!
J17 @ Nov 29th 2007 2:14PM
@Solace
Amen to that!!! :D
Thoas @ Nov 29th 2007 2:02PM
Cool! :)
Kohath @ Nov 29th 2007 2:16PM
I've heard people say Warhawk is too slow compared to CoD4.
On a recent 30 minute Warhawk CTF game, I got 35 kills and died about 20 times. I guess I don't understand how that can be considered slow. What would fast be like?
(I haven't played CoD4 multi-player yet.)
balaam @ Dec 1st 2007 10:44AM
"fast" is resistance type speeds with 1 kill every 20-30 secs, they often come bunched with 4 kills in 10 secs and none for half a min. You die about every min or so depending on match settings. COD 4 (i reccomend you get it, single player is fantastic, online is more addictive than halo), you die once every few mins and get about a kill every 40 secs. However warhawk is extremley well balanced and i can't wait for the map pack to realy get me playing again.
Titty Pink @ Nov 29th 2007 7:08PM
Yeah, Warhawk seems mad slow. Its just when you slew onto new targets while on foot. Just seems much slower. I don't feel comfortable jumping into Warhawks when I'm not the pilot, I don't think I'd feel too good about someone getting 6 of us killed in one swoop. Thanks, but no thanks. The maps are welcome though...
Wayne @ Nov 29th 2007 4:54PM
I love warhawk, it's my favourite game at the moment. This expansion looks like it will add some additional strategies.
I am assuming this addon will require v1.2, so we should see some decent changes before and after this addon.

COD 4 fast? You want to know what fast would be like? Ill spell it out for ya. U-N-R-E-A-L T-O-U-R-N-A-M-E-N-T 03 ^^
Livi70590 @ Nov 29th 2007 6:08PM
do you think that you can pick up vehicles with that thing? like off the ground? i hope not, it'd make CTF far too easy.
Colin McGinn @ Nov 29th 2007 6:18PM
I am speechless. This is better than I expected and I expected a lot. I will pay whatever they want ... just give it to me. This is the most addicting online experience since CS in my opinion. Too much random/fun/funny stuff happens!
Larz @ Nov 30th 2007 2:09PM
I gotta agree with hpvs17. You want fast? Check out UT.
And anyways, if you want to see slow, go play some Halo. Good god, am I the only one who feels like I'm moving through pudding in that game? Soo much slower than Warhawk for sure.
