Deutsch wins PlayStation advertising account
After having divorced itself from their 13-year advertising company TBWA/Chiat/Day, Sony Computer Entertainment America has now decided who to hand the $150 million advertising account to. Pitchers for the account included Publicis & Hal Riney, Publicis West, Grey, Deautsh, Young & Rubicam and JWT with Deutsch being the eventual winner. As a result, don't expect to see too many PS3 octopus adverts as we venture further into the new year.
While this appears to be an America only deal, TBWA are still, as far as we know, in possession of the European advertising account. Hopefully SCEE will see the light, as SCEA has, and rid us of the dog-fluffing, ballet dancing adverts we've become so familiar with. At any rate, these are exciting times as we head into 2008. With all the 2007 titles having been released, things can only start improving for Sony and the PS3 from here on out.

hopefully this wont give us anymore baby dolls crying for the ps3 and no more punches and weird gross things sticking out of the ps3 like spikes...

Funny enough I was just thinking the other day about Sony's ads and how they need somebody like Deutsch on the task. I'm a happen to be a big fan of his show....but beyond I thought his agency would be able to produce something that would be able to make you run out and go buy a PS3...I don't know that even the current PS3 ads do are that good....and at this point we need a GREAT. We need whoever makes Apples ads...I think particularly the Iphone ads (I hate the Iphone by the way but the ads are well done.)

I'm confused, hate his show? I thought they were an agency?

WTF? Whose show are you talking about?

The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch on CNBC.

I think Sony made the wrong move here. Sony needs edgy exciting ads.
Deutsch is the design equivalent of a wet paper towel. Seriously go to their website and see if anything they have on it actually makes you want to buy the product.
They did make the talking cow "Real California Cheese" ads, wow there’s a good one. When I buy cheese the first thing I think about is how happy the cows are that are making it.
Maybe Deutsch will just buy ads from other agencies and pass them off to Sony like TBWA. Honestly how Deutsch gets the clients they do is beyond me. They must have som ereally gifted BS artists.

Oh, come on dude. Anything will be an improvement on what TBWA have delivered on the PS3 front. Truly awful work: have any of their ads encouraged people to go out and spend a lot of money on the console?
In my experience, word of mouth has sold the PS3. I bought one because of my brother; now in four weeks five of my friends have bought one after seeing mine - including a former Wii-boy.

Funny enough, TBWA/Chiat/Day is Apple's ad agency.

Lets just see how it all plays out before assuming anything...
Hopefully this ad company is capable of doing some kick-arse ads. How long before we see some new marketing strategies?

Agh jesus...playstation is really f***ed now.
They must seem to think that advertising is a joke to hire this asshole's ad agency.
