Burnout Paradise demo scheduled for next week
You know a demo's going to be good if the publisher is willing to make you count down every second leading up to it. The Burnout Paradise demo is coming in seven days, and counting. What system could it be for? Well, it looks like the demo is for release on the PSN. With PSN updates happening every Thursday, and this countdown coincidentally also landing on that day, we're pretty sure that PS3 owners are going to be very, very happy.

Awesome, I have some many games and no time to play them all.

Excellent news! Better support 1080i and the DS3 though...

Don't hold your breath on this one coming to PSN. They always let us down.
Popfrogs @ Dec 5th 2007 11:58AM
Could this be the first good EA game for the PS3?
Jevanzz @ Dec 5th 2007 12:19PM
Don't get your hopes up. :)
Dru @ Dec 5th 2007 12:54PM
I won't be holding my breath, but I am hoping. This game looks awesome and I love the fact that there will no loading. Also, having the whole city open to you from the beginning will be nice.

This game was created for the PS3 first, not ported from the 360, so it should be good. I'm looking forward to it, although I have to say there are way too many driving games on the PS3.
Organic_Shadow @ Dec 5th 2007 3:21PM
Only thing I am really hoping it has is online multiplayer. Even if we only have 2 cars and a small portion of the city....I don't care. I just can't get my head around how multiplayer or the challenges work just yet, so I would prefer some hands-on.
Even the videos do a poor job of conveying how you start challenges, etc.

how do you get the other car on demo i only have one do you have to do all the races?
ck @ Dec 5th 2007 5:22PM
This will be awesome. Burnout has never let me down.

@4 - 1080p is probably not going to be acheievable for the 1st version of games on the platform, it'll take a couple of installements for the devs to totally screw the most out of the system.Besides, it should be pure 720p (not upscaled), so that at least is a bonus.
Stef Geiger @ Dec 5th 2007 8:24PM
We're definitely in to the SECOND generation of PS3 games, and I said 1080i, not 1080p. 720p is no good, since my TV doesn't support it. It seems that MOST games these days do actually support 1080i, if not 1080p, like Ratchet, COD4, Uncharted, R6, The Darkness, Lair, Ninja Gaiden, Pain, Calling All Cars... And there were a number of first-gen 1080p titles too, like that NBA game and Full Auto 2, off the top of my head.
MGSteve @ Dec 6th 2007 11:35AM
Well, what I meant was 2nd versions of games that have already been released. As for not supporting 720p because your TV doesn't - get a proper HDTV then!!! There are only a handful of games that support 1080p most of them PSN games where they aren't exactly the most graphically demanding.
Actually, I can't think of one game which supports 1080i/p as standard that's a normal release. GT5 will be the first to support 1080p, although its 1440x1080, not the full 1080p.
UT3 is only 720p and when I spoke to Mark what-his-face from Epic, he did say that he expected UT to run in 1080p on perhaps the 3rd release, once they have got their heads around the PS3 platform completely.
We will over time see more and more games run in 1080i/p, but it will take a lot of serious optimisation to get it to do so - look at how long GT5 has taken to produce!
Also, to be honest, I'd take 720p over 1080i anyday. 1080i is really only good for slow moving action, games need a progressive scan output for smoothness.
So either way, looks like you need to get a decent TV! You'll benefit from it as 720p output scaled to 1080i is crap - I've done it on my TV when I was trying to get Warhawk to run in 1080i/p and the difference in quality was noticeable.

I hope it appears on the PSN, because I've heard so much chatter about it and don't actually know what it is precisely!
John @ Dec 5th 2007 8:40PM
There can NEVER be too many driving games. Right now the only good ones for me are Dirt and... the Sega one is not bad (though Dirt is more gorgeouser).
I was like, whoa, January, that's so far away. Then I was like, whoa, it's like... already December, and stuff.

Here's my question: I've seen over and over on the internets that Paradise will not have split screen multiplayer. But I've never seen any source for this information other than "some guy on a forum". Can anyone confirm or deny this with a reputable source? This makes a big deal to me. With split screen I buy the game, without it I don't. (Same deal with Motorstorm).
Broken Haiku @ Dec 6th 2007 7:06AM
Wonderful! I've been really curious about this game, so a demo is more than welcome!
