Rock Band "guitar compatibility" patch on its way
Over at the official Rock Band forums a member of Harmonix has made an announcement that a patch for the PS3 version of the game should be arriving imminently. This patch "addresses a number of items related to guitar controller compatibility." Most people on the forum are assuming that this will fix the problems with the Guitar Hero III guitar when used with Rock Band, finally allowing PS3 owners to play the game as it was meant to be played - with four players.
The announcement came last night and, sadly, the patch is still not available. HMXSean has posted again to apologise for the delay and to let everyone know that he is finding out what's taking so long. We'll let you know when the patch is finally up and what exactly it does as soon as we find out.
[Thanks, Wes!]

Awesome! Harmonix wins the award for most responsive company. 2 weeks since the game was released (one of which was Thanksgiving) and they already have compatibility with foreign (to them) hardware. Awesome. Can't wait to rock out with 4 people :)

...it's not great customer support. It's more like this, "What? We released Rock Band as standalone on the PS3? Doesn't it say works with most guitar controllers? I thought we found out it didn't work with any guitar controllers but ours?"
The didn't have a choice rather or not to fix it before Christmas. They are selling an unplayable game at this momment, and until people started to put some real pressue about the standalone copy I imagine that they were going to just sit back and wait for us to buy their first party guitar.

I would like that as well as using the PS2 guitars as they are cheaper and easier to find.

yay. When this hits, I'll be able to play guitar again! Since the packaged guitar (and drums) already broke.

How about we get the Rock Band guitars to work on the PS2 Guitar Hero 1,2 and 80s? That would be just SUPER.

I don't know about you guys, but I have no intent of buying the full RB set. Too many people are talking about broken drums. I'll buy GH3 instead and (hopefully now) use the GH3 guitar to rock out to the tasty song list in the standalone version of RB. Besides, I mostly play games by myself anyway.
