It seems the good folk over at ThreeSpeech have brought a Haze special to our attention, courtesy of Gamer TV. Since they don't have the video on their site, they redirected us to GameTrailers, which resulted in the above movie for your enjoyment. This dump truck we call the internet ... it's wonders never cease. Oh, and Haze is looking pretty cool, too.
I'm definitely getting this game. The only reason I really wanted it was because of the 4 player online co-op but having a strong single-player and multiplayer makes it all the more better. First day purchase for me!
Looking like it's going to be a very good game, I believe many will compare it to Halo, and there are similarities, but in the end I think it will stand as a very solid FPS for the PS3.
How ever much i like to know what's going on with game development i can't help thinking the behind the scenes stuff is going too far now. Just finish the game already.
Lol I noticed that too. Why do these small things seem to fun to pick at? =P.
In any case, don't bog the guy down for being wrong. They DID confirm the PC/Xbox360 version a long time ago, and then proceeded to knock them off development.
I still think Haze is going to be a timed exclusive. None of the articles mention that it's NOT coming to the 360. It's just not coming anytime soon. Will that matter? Not for us, but if the 360 has too many FPS's on the market for them to even slightly do well in, there's no point in them considering it.
So I'm guessing like UT3, the 360 version will start development after release, and they'll do something like Lost Planet did for PS3 later on, when people are half-done playing Halo 3/Mass Effect/CoD4/the list goes on.
Worst part is, Treyarch seems to want CoD5 to be WWII shooter. Maybe Ubisoft can release Haze at that time =P since none of us want WWII shooters anymore lol.
PSU: What was the reason behind dropping development on the Xbox 360 and PC?
Derek: From a development point of view, exclusive development is attractive because you can really focus on getting the best out of just one platform, rather than always needing to split your efforts across multiple versions of the game. And this is why exclusive PS3 development has been so useful to us, as the entire team has been able to work very closely with the PS3 hardware.
As for why the PS3 was our platform of choice, the company has a history of getting good results out of PlayStation hardware from our days working on the PS2, but also, out of the three platforms, the PS3 is still the youngest and so represented the best opportunity for us to get a game out into an uncrowded market where it was likely to get the best recognition.
I was stoked 2 get this game for Christmas mabey, but then they delayed it until next year... and now I dont know if I want to spend my money on it or not. Depends on if I get money for Christmas! BTW Andy: I see the Xbox, but he is holding a ps3 controller. It is still a little wierd...
to the right of his computer is the ps3 that his ps3 controller is plugged into. im sure they need a 360 too considering that it will be released on the 360 at some point
well as far as i know it is a timed exclusive, but if you are right then i am sure that is just that i might be left overs from another game they were working on.
Or perhaps its there because Free Radical are also working on Timesplitters 4, a multi platform release, so they are inevitably going to need 360s at some point
It's probably just the video, but that looks really bad. And though the gamplay looks to have a few gold nuggets in there (laying still on the ground and popping up to cut the necter off the mantel guys backs) the games overall feel seems sort of...lame.
Exclusive in marketing terms many times means TIMED (See Lost Planet for instance).
As recently as Nov 16 Howard Stringer (This is the CEO of SONY) of SONY confirmed that HAZE is being ported to Xbox at a later time.
Here is his direct quote: "Developers are now creating games on PS3 and then porting them to other platforms. This shows the strides developers are making in creating content for PS3 and also provides developers with an advantage as it's harder to port from Xbox 360 to PS3. Ubisoft's Haze is the first title to be created on PS3 and ported to Xbox."
This was said on Nov 16 when it was assumed Haze would beat Burnout Paradise to market.

Face it, it's not timed. It's PS3 exclusive. There will not be a 360 version.
Don't have a brain fart because a GAME developing studio has an xbox around. It WAS supposed to be a cross platform game, xbox, ps3, pc. Then timed exclusive with the ps3 getting it first. Now it is, and has been confirmed SEVERAL times that it will be a Playstation exclusive. Perhaps Ubisoft doesn't want Haze to get lost in the assortment of FPS for 360?
Lol! There is nothing strange about them having an Xbox development kit. They're multi-platform developers so they can develop games for the Xbox as well. If they were a Sony First Party developer it would odd, but they're not. All non-first party developers have PS3, Wii, and Xbox kits if they have any plans to develop games for them.
I just bought R&C.FTOD and Uncharted to get entartained after christmas, this seems also as a must-get. 1st day buy for me! Finally the PS3 get some great exclusive titles...

This is a game that could be compared to Halo. It has vehicles and fun weapons.
This video makes me want this game even more.
butterfly @ Dec 8th 2007 7:09PM
looks like halo 3 on nectar.
halo 3 is an awesome game but this could be even better. it is more realistic, and the story line looks to be much better than halo's.
i will be getting this game.
Andy @ Dec 8th 2007 6:16PM
Hmm......
There is an Xbox 360 underneath an phone and coffee mug about 80% of the way through. And the guy is playing Haze.
Maximilian Lockwood @ Dec 8th 2007 6:50PM
Yea I was going to make note of that too... but the guy IS holding a PS3 controller whilst playing...
I think the 360 is just a paper weight. Or a display shelf for his phone and coffee mug.
He can't REALLY be playing Haze off that system anyway. It would get the RRoD because of the hot stuff on top of it.
Kspraydad @ Dec 8th 2007 7:13PM
Because Haze will be coming to the Xbox360 next year.
Sony themselves confirmed this.

No it isn't. And Sony confirmed it wasn't. And so did FreeRadical. Haze is a PS3 exclusive. And not a timed one.

@Extinction...
Your quote only goes to show that it is exclusive NOW, that they are focusing on one platform etc etc...it DOES NOT preclude HAZE going multiplatform.
MY quote, on the other hand, EXPLICITLY CONFIRMS that Haze it going to Xbox 360 and the source is the CEO of SONY.
You can check my comment history all over the net if you like, I'm a SONY whore...but this title is multiplatform.
