Blu-ray movie releases for the week of Dec. 11
Following up on last week's strong lineup of Blu-ray releases, we're treated to an even meatier menu to feast over. This week is, perhaps, one of the greatest moments for Potter fans as all five movies come to Blu-ray.Harry Potter Limited Edition Gift Set: Years 1-5
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
High School Musical 2: Extended Edition
Lost: The Complete Third Season
Led Zeppelin: The Song Remains the Same
The Legend of Zorro
Rent
SOS! Tokyo Metro Explorers: The Next
However, if Potter isn't your thing, there's always Led Freaking Zeppelin. And if you don't like Zeppelin, may we suggest High School Musical 2?

if this sells more on BD than on HD-DVD, then expect Warner to go BD exclusive.
Slade @ Dec 9th 2007 9:09PM
Harry potter, getting that

Highly doubtful. Many Warner movies have sold better on Blu-Ray yet they are still neutral.
I'll be getting HP #5 as I already have 1-4 on DVD.
Killer @ Dec 9th 2007 9:54PM
I agree with Andy....besides, it's not very buisness savy to release all 5 movies on a format you might just get rid of later? I mean why would you waste the manufactoring cost to make 5 movies and a box set and then choose to go exclusive? Definately not cost effective. You would weigh your decision on one thing not 5 different movies and a 5 movie pack set. If they were going to do it, they would have done it before this release, but who knows maybe I take Time Warner for a company with buisness sense to much. We'll see.
motorer @ Dec 9th 2007 10:05PM
gettin #3 and #5. woot!
Hoffer @ Dec 9th 2007 10:41PM
Does that box also have room for years 6 and 7? If not, I'll hold off until all 7 movies are out and buy that box set.
loic54 @ Dec 9th 2007 11:13PM
Led Zeppelin all the way, but maybe the latest Harry Potter movie also.
Hito @ Dec 9th 2007 11:38PM
Saying Led Zeplin and High School Musical 2 in the same sentence should be illegal.....
DAMNIT you made me do it too
Robert @ Dec 10th 2007 12:17AM
Actually #2 is right. Warner has publicly stated they are monitoring Q4 sales and will be making a decision of exclusivity in the near future. That being said, HP is far and away their biggest dual format release of the quarter, if not the year. If we sell more HP and beat them for the week when they have Bourne + HP, it will certainly deliver a swift kick in the nads to M$ and the HD-DVD group. I will definitely be going my part by getting all 5 movies....
JPN @ Dec 10th 2007 8:42AM
Dude...they're ALWAYS "monitoring" sales. They publicly stated that so people who feel some bizarre investment in the format wars will buy more movies of their format. Don't fall for the hype.
Young Capwn @ Dec 10th 2007 12:24AM
@9 Power To ya dude, im all out of doe this week, but ill get em eventually.
ANd i thought the new HP was gonna be 2 disk long on HD-DVD because the whole movie couldnt fit on one disk lol, i heard that somewhere.
Robert @ Dec 10th 2007 12:48AM
@10. Hah, haven't heard that one but it's very likely. Warner is releasing them on the 50 GB BD disks with all HD special features and finally some PCM audio. The HD disks have those overrated internet features, but they don't get HD special features bc of the 30 GB limit. Hopefully the Blu version isn't the "watered down" HD-DVD port like we usually get. Hopefully we will get better than usual turnout in HP week from the PS3 crowd and make our mark.
Dahk @ Dec 10th 2007 2:06AM
Aww come on! Catherine Zeta Jones in glorious HD! Where's the support!? =P
MCX @ Dec 10th 2007 3:54AM
I will wait for all 7 in a box set. On BD -- but dam I don't know whats Warner deal --- I need a BD version of the Matrix trilogy.
EDGE @ Dec 10th 2007 8:02AM
will be picking up Lost season 3
JPN @ Dec 10th 2007 8:40AM
Why in the world would anyone buy that special edition of harry potter 1-5? If you're THAT into it, you know there are 2 more movies coming that'll be in some more awesome kind of packaging...releasing that at this time a year is totally a scam, something someone would buy as a gift for a harry potter fan, not realizing it will be obsolete...but they already got the money...
Frank @ Dec 10th 2007 3:32PM
Why in the world does anyone buy any piece of technology? They know a more awesome kind of the same technology will be coming out.
(That was sarcasm)
If you're a huge Potter nut, you have the choice of a 5 disc box set NOW, or waiting another 2-3 years for the 7 piece box set.
TJ @ Dec 10th 2007 10:29AM
I'll get Potter and Lost. I don't mind if the other 2 are released in different packaging. I can watch them in high def for 3 years before the final movie is released on Blu-ray. I'm not knocking anyone for waiting, but as long as the discs play, I don't see anything wrong with getting the 5-disc set.
I've got a friend who is buying all 5 individually, however, just so they'll match in 2010 when he buys the next 2.
XDragon @ Dec 10th 2007 11:19AM
I'm getting all 5 individually.
Warner will be looking at this holiday season's sales, esp of Harry Potter, as a possible reason to pick a side.
Now I'm waiting for Lord Of The Rings on Blu-Ray and I finally watched my region free Transformers The Movie (1986) Blu-Ray improt from Amazon UK and it was awesome!
craig @ Dec 11th 2007 9:39PM
Waiting on Blade Runner to end my purchasing holdout. I'm hoping the transfer is as good as the 2001: A Space Odyssey standard.
Kevin @ Dec 11th 2007 9:34AM
I see everyone referring to the Harry Potter years 1-5 set as a "5-disc set"
It's 5 MOVIES
but the set has 12 discs lol
just so you know
never$$hort @ Dec 11th 2007 3:17PM
