Worldwide PS3 releases for the week of December 9th

US Games
EU Games
Asian Games
Not bad at all, considering 98% of the year's big releases are out already. This should be the last week with any games of note being stuck on shelves - which is fine by us. We're ready to sit back and finally get through all of the year's great releases.
Don't forget your PS3 is region free, so go ahead and import any of the above games. Release dates are subject to the whim of the fates, so be sure to check with your local retailer just in case.

WOOT ut3 i hope its a big hit
Ed @ Dec 9th 2007 9:38AM
Really hoping EA doesn't screw up the orange box like everything else they touch. I need some half-life action!
Nacho @ Dec 9th 2007 8:36PM
When I found out that orange box was coming to the PS3 I was hyped. Hearing all of the rumors about the lack of effort being put into the PS3 version - I was VERY disappointed.
I really hope these rumors are not true or at least fixed.
The1 @ Dec 9th 2007 10:09AM
December releases are always a risk. I am 50/50 on UT III. I am waiting to see the REVIEWS. I am assuming they will be at least 9.5. Furthermore, this game will need to sell at least 200K in its first week even though at advertising has been week.

That's for PC*
seansloan @ Dec 9th 2007 11:26AM
I think they would be very happy with 100k in sales.Motostorm was the highest selling game for the week of dec1 and it sold 71,537.Also i havent seen even one commercial for UT3
Frank @ Dec 9th 2007 3:10PM
Why on earth would any company be happy with 100k in sales? 5-6 million ps3's out there, and you think they'd be happy with 100k in sales? Wow, just wow.
Highimpact1 @ Dec 9th 2007 3:52PM
Frank, no PS3 game has reached 100k sales in the first week so far, so if they do, that is an achievement... no?
The1 @ Dec 9th 2007 9:43AM
December releases are a risk because most consumers spent their monies during the Black Friday bonanza. UTIII really needs to kick but in sells. They will need to sell at least 300K the first week. However, if this is a limited release I do not see this as being possible. I know I am going to get it. I just hope the game is good and fun.
Deviation @ Dec 9th 2007 11:30AM
For what reason would UTIII need 300k sales in the first week? That doesn't make any sense at all. Heck, Call of Duty 4 and Assasin's Creed both look to sell a million copies for the PS3 before the year ends and neither of them came even close to selling 300k in the US in the first week. Not even close.
Dru @ Dec 9th 2007 12:32PM
Agreed Deviation. And to those of you who think dropping a game this "close" to xmas is too late I say WHATEVER! If the game is good it will sell. If little Johnny wants it for xmas, he'll probably get it. And no, it doesn't have to sell 300k in the first week to be a success.
I hope UT3 is a hit. Maybe it'll take a few players away from CoD4 so I can get some game time in. These servers are whores this weekend, huh? I guess that's what double XP will get you.
Organic_Shadow @ Dec 9th 2007 10:24AM
Funny how so many sites are still reporting an unknown 2008 release date for UT3 even though it's been all over the net that it's Dec 10.
I'm going to risk not getting a copy by not preordering. I need to do some shopping this week anyway though, so I might go by BestBuy on the 11th and see if they have it.
seansloan @ Dec 9th 2007 11:16AM
I reserved a copy of UT3 and gamestop they say tuesday as well. Also anybody recommend a place to buy GT5 at?
The1 @ Dec 9th 2007 11:36AM
Say what you want, 100K would not be enought to make this game a HIT considering the time of year and monies investmented. If the game does not come out swinging, this will not be good. The PS3 games are not selling as well as the X or Wii. With the sells of the PS3 on the rise a Blockbuster hit is needed for the Holiday season.
seansloan @ Dec 9th 2007 12:00PM
well you have dropped your post from 300k to 200k so keep aiming lower.Should be a great game and thats what really counts, but doesnt make any sense to just pick a number out of the air.look at how much advertising for uncharted then look at sales figures.Still not enough PS3's sold to sell that many units.
wonway01 @ Dec 9th 2007 11:42AM
From what I have been reading some say they arn't too impressed with the PC demo and so on and so fourth. What Im noticing are most saying this are hardcore long time UT players. I guess it just wasent diffrent enough or anything new enough to blow them away.
But with that said, for all you PS3 owners that arn't hard core UT people or never played it on PC before should be totally blown away by the game. Im pretty excited about it really. The mods and maps and all that custom content that the PS3 will take part in is huge. I mean look at Counter Strike. Its been on fire for about the last 8 years due to everything people mod and make for it. It just won't go away. I am very excited to see what this brings to the PS3.

Alright so for everyone who is wondering about UT3, here's a quick summary of all the reviews on the web, including mine (Since I finished the campaign):
-About the solo part: the campaign is basically a set of tournament matches well stringed together with some cinematics between chapters that add an O.K. story to the mix. During the single player campaign you will tour most (If not all, I can't remember) of the maps of the game in a geographically coherent way, since you are part of a war and are gaining terrain over your opponents, you gradually enter their territory to fight in their maps. The story plot itself is ok, it holds itself together pretty well, and even though it's not the absolute best story in the world, it ends with a cliffhanger, which is always nice since you know there will be a conclusion to the story in the future... I won't spoil the cliffhanger for you though.
-Solo grade: the average online review is about 85%, I give it the same grade. It's not excellent, but it's a good experience still...
NB: There is also bot play on the PC version, and it should (IMO) be included on the PS3 version, so for those who do not have internet at all times, the bots provide a great alternative since the AI is always as challenging as in the previous Unreal games. And while the short supply of maps might be a problem, just wait for a few months to start seeing the first maps for PS3.
-The online part: This is where the game really shines, all the reviews you will find on the web agree with that. And while I did not play online too much (I was focusing on the campaign see ;)), I have to agree that playing Warfare maps against other human players across the globe is pretty impressive, and it's just too cool to pass up (You're in a large war online against other players, how cool is that?). With bluetooth mic support (At least I hope so) on the PS3, it should provide great opportunities for building complex strategies to tackle the opposing team. And why not yell a taunt or two at the same time?
-Online part grade: Some 90-95% scattered across websites. I do not grade it since I have not been online much (Only thrice in fact, but it was still cool :D).
NB: The only problem with the online is getting online, for the PC version, since the interface of the menu is as unclear as it gets. However I assume it will work differently for the PS3 version, so it should not be a problem. But if it works the same way, you will quickly learn to hate UT3's menu system, unless it actually works better with a controller...
Dehshizknight @ Dec 9th 2007 12:15PM
I think Unreal Tournament will be big. Maybe it won't sell 300,000 units on the first week but this is one of the most hyped games for the PS3. I'm probably not getting this right now because I already went over budget on my most recent games (Uncharted, Guitar Hero III, and several PSN titles).
Oh well, I guess I can ask for this game for Christmas. Lol.
JayD-1K @ Dec 9th 2007 12:23PM
this should be a good game. i hope they nailed the on-line play! voice com. will be key, clan tags, and of course....the mods! Playstation Blog is already trying to get players to make mods for the game. this could keep the game from getting stale over the next year! imho
christian @ Dec 9th 2007 12:46PM
when will we see a PS3fanboy.com review of Half-Life 2? I pre-ordered this 2 months ago, but worried about framerate issues etc,. would like to see a ps3fanboy.com review soon to help decide if I should cancel the order or not...
Trym @ Dec 9th 2007 1:37PM
Cancel it already, its EA ffs..
ryano @ Dec 10th 2007 3:40PM
Unreal games have always been too fast to be any fun, and they have been the same game basically for years.
PS3 controller certainly isn't as comfy as a 360 controller for a FPS game, and I really don't want to shell out another $50-$80 for a keyboard and mouse setup.
the PC requirements aren't as high as Crysis. so i'll just get this for the Unreal Editor it comes with (not a level editor for the game, for my own projects).
Livi70590 @ Dec 9th 2007 1:57PM
Any OB reviews yet?
KHCloud @ Dec 9th 2007 3:22PM
Ahh man, the PS3 didn't meet it's FPS quota this week. *rolls eyes* Still UT3 should be awesome, I already have The Orange Box on my PC, so not too worried about that. From what I've played of Blacksite on my roommate's 360, I'd rather not touch it again.
MrSparkle @ Dec 9th 2007 3:51PM
Anyone who DOESNT think UT3 is going to be awesome... Needs to simply be shot.
Epic has done an awesome job developing this for the PS3. Having played the game myself all I can say is WOW. I have this for my PC as well... and decided to simply go for both simply because of what I can do with em.
My 360 wont be seeing much play anymore.. and my wii just sits there looking at me like a sad puppy.
UT3 will be setting a standard. This game's visual quality, optimized code for the PS3 architecture... and MIND BOGGLING improvements to the UT3 engine and optimization are simply stunning.
Who cares how much it sells. Epic and Mark know that this game is driven by the millions of Unreal Tournament fans out in the world.
ALL HAIL TO THE ONE AND ONLY FIRST PERSON SHOOTER!!! WELCOME BACK TO UNREAL TOURNAMENT!
bran @ Dec 9th 2007 5:17PM
Do you work for Epic or Sony sir?
seansloan @ Dec 9th 2007 5:22PM

elephant_stone @ Dec 9th 2007 5:29PM

Anyway - do I sell my Oblivion and get Game of the year edition or just download the upgrade from the store?? hmmm
EL_CHUY @ Dec 9th 2007 6:43PM
I don't know about the orange box yet. Some say it does have some framerate problems no too bad (but still problems) mmm... I'll wait.
Christopher @ Dec 9th 2007 9:47PM
No sir. I am just a gamer who knows what he is talking about.
See everyone on tuesday on the field

Heya Fellas,
A few things:
1. 100K in sales is horrible. Especially for a game of UT3's caliber. I am sitting here puzzled listening to people rationalize this as an "OK" thing. With titles only selling 100k you will see less and less PS3 exclusives since Devs can just make it for 360 and sell a million. With an install base of 6 million there is no excuse for the system to have only 2 games at 1 million sold (360 had more than 2 at launch alone, not to mention Ghost Recon and Dead or Alive which came out a few months later). When your install base is 6 million and games are only selling 100-300K there is a problem. What I dont understand is if these games arent selling what in the hell are people doing with their systems? If any of PS3's "Big" games (Warhawk, Heavenly, Drake, etc...) came out for 360 they would have passed 1mill already. Like I have said time and time again PS3 owners dont buy games. I love my PS3 to death but we are gonna miss out on some great games and get a lot of crappy ports unless people start buying some games.
2. i will be getting UT3 tomorrow and I hope many of you will too. It should be good. Though I do wish Sony could have got the PSN in better shape by now. It is missing many key features that LIVE has that makes online gaming awesome (in-game invites, cross game chat, in-game access to friends list, accepting invites in-game, etc...).
3. i am looking to start up a clan on PSN. My 360 clan is sick and ranks high on every game we play. Looking for MATURE gamers, that play often, and that buy a fair amount of games. Please have some skills and know how to work with a team. Hit me up if you are interested, my PSN name is TheShowstopper.
Clan Name: Art Of War
