Eternal Sonata: the PS3 trailer
Namco Bandai is bringing its JRPG, Eternal Sonata to the PS3 next year. Originally an Xbox 360 exclusive, the PS3 version adds a number of enhancements to the experience, with new characters and a fleshed out storyline. (Those that played the 360 original knows that the story needed to be slightly more developed.) Hopefully, by releasing on the PS3, Eternal Sonata will actually ... y'know, get played by an audience that actually appreciates this genre.

I like Japanese RPG's as much as many PS3 owners, but honestly this game seems a bit ho-hum...
Graphics are pretty but not really next gen.
Seems a bit girly.

"Hopefully, by releasing on the PS3, Eternal Sonata will actually ... y'know, get played by an audience that actually appreciates this genre."
more like 'hopefully, by releasing on the PS3, Eternal
sonata will actually ... y'know, get played by the incredibly dense Japanese consumers who would turn down a superior foreign product in favor of the inferior native one.'
yes, the japanese consumers are the dumbest on the planet.
Noshino @ Dec 11th 2007 7:25PM
superior product? no one denies the fact that the 360 still first on this gen, but to say that it is a superior machine? you are going WAY too far, get your facts straight....the 360 is nowhere to being a superior machine, maybe superior interface, but its awful hardware takes all of its so called superiority away from it...
Yes, the japanese are the dumbest ones, that's why most of the developing studios are from there, the biggest franchises are from there, 2 out of the 3 console makers are from there...and hey, this is only on the videogame area, do you want me to go beyond that?
oh, also, if they are dumb, why would Microsoft put SO MUCH effort into AT LEAST getting the japanese interested on their console...
think again before you say something, it might come back to bite you in the ass....
Maci @ Dec 11th 2007 7:24PM
Arguably, the only thing the 360 has is better games. These games are targeted toward the American and European consumer. Not much on the 360 really scream "Japan."

@ Noshino
Yes, it is a superior product. They both offer the same game but one is cheaper. do the math. 'it has extra content that 360 version didnt have' who gives a shit? ill bet my life that nobody looking at Eternal Sonata thought "i wanna get it but it doesn't look like it's gonna have enough content.."
and hey, if the consumers will buy your brand's product no matter what you're bound to start making money "see: Apple" that's why the Japanese market is thriving.
and why does microsoft put money into Japan? because Japanese money still counts as real money, ya know? just because consumers are ignorant doesn't mean they don't have money. why shouldn't microsoft try getting some of it?
@Maci
well, games SHOULD be the only thing that does matter. This is a game console after all. and there have been a good handfull of 360 games that would have sold well on the ps3 but were neglected because theyre on an american console.
at the price point microsoft is selling the 360's over there it'd be completely worth it to pick one up for 5 solid games.
(god knows people have no problem buying the ps3 and it barely has 5 good games)
lastly, and im not gonna post anymore so please dotn give me any of those tough-guy baiting comments where you feel good because i dont respond.... i would think that a console that eclusively features 'western' games would appeal to more people in the east. I mean, sony has received tremendous success for being the go-to system for jrpgs and other eastern type games. why is there no one over in the east striving to play something different?

Wow, isn't it fun when fanboys get racist?
John @ Dec 11th 2007 9:01PM
you just made a racist generalization. That means you're ignorant, and don't read books. Which means that your ideas have no meaning. What's that? You're fading out.
Noshino @ Dec 11th 2007 7:14PM
"get played by an audience that actually appreciates this genre"
ouch, I see what you did there, low blow...hahaha
but yah, like I said before, JRPGs haven't been one of the 360's strong points, and Blue Dragon is the perfect example of it (altho it wasn't even that great, seriously, Sakaguchi lost his magic...)
now, people are going to say that they already had a year to play the gam eon teh 360, but the truth is that most of the JRPG fans that have already played it will buy it again JUST for the extra features, the extra characters, story, customes, add a lot and is a HUGE plus
best example? Rogue Galaxy...
JRPGs have always been Sony's ground :P

Finally, a good PS3 RPG. I hope the North American version of the PS3 version allows you to select Japanese voice acting like the North American version of the 360 version did.
L @ Dec 11th 2007 7:52PM
Dear god do you ever listin to your self sometimes All BLA better than the xbox ...... Do you ever just sit back and think about the game itself. WHo cares what the hell its on .it won,t kill you.

JKPierce @ Dec 11th 2007 8:34PM
It hurts to read what you slam on your keyboard and submit.
Emophia @ Dec 15th 2007 10:37AM
Sakaguchi has lost his magic, Blue Dragon was so mediocre it hurts...
Lost Oddesy is his last chance to redeem himself for me...
John @ Dec 11th 2007 9:00PM
This looks great. And yes, I will be playing it with the Japanese voice-overs.
Kspraydad @ Dec 11th 2007 9:58PM
Can we erase 80% of the above comments and stay on topic?
mat parker @ Dec 12th 2007 2:44AM
