Motorstorm patched to version 3.1 today
Evolution Studios are continuing their excellent support for the year old game Motorstorm by today patching the game to version 3.1. While not as substantial an update as version 3.0, the new patch does add a few handy features. The vehicle selection screen can now be viewed in a 2D grid as well as the old 3D view, which speeds up the selection a touch. Levels can also now be reversed, essentially doubling the number of levels available.
A proximity meter, similar to the one in Elimination Mode, has been added to Motorstorm Mode and two new audio tracks have also been included in the game. We're happy to see games continuing to be supported by their developers, even after a year on the market, and hope we'll be saying the same sort of thing this time next year. If Motorstorm 2 isn't out by then.

how does reversing tracks work around the jumps and things?
mccomber @ Dec 11th 2007 1:41PM
They aren't reversed, they are mirrored. Left is now right and such. I wondered the same thing at first.

Motorstorm is just awesome - as good as it gets for a launch title. I have about ten PS3 games; nine of them are getting dusty.
Evolution deserve a huge amount of credit for the way they support it. Let's hope we get more tracks a la Devil's Crossing!

Cool. I hope the 2d grid views makes vehicle selection faster. My only real gripe with the game has been the load times. I wish there was an option to 'install' it to the hard drive. Seems like a shame to have storage ready to go but still wait so long for loads.

This is one of those games that just refuse to die and I do agree you have to give the dev's credit for pushing DLC to the gamers!! Hopefully they'll be able to have split screen in a patch or something in the near future! we'll see what happens!

Anyone else having trouble connecting to the server to download this update?? It keeps telling me that its unable to connect to the server, I've tried 3 times... is it my Ps3 or...???

I bought it at launch and I was kinda disappointed. I just really suck at it. It plays well, the music rocks...but I'm the worst driver ever. I think it took me 2 days to beat the first track.

Download the time trial add-on which allows you to add all kinds of ghosts. Then copy the lines. Saved me seconds a lap.
For the tighter cornering, it's all about the handbrake on entry. Squeeze a little boost on the exit. Also use short boost-bursts to steer the car in fast corners.
When playing against the AI (i.e. not online), don't use boost for more than a second or two at a time - and as few times as possible - until the latter third of the last lap, otherwise you excite the AI too much. Trust me, it works. Online, only choose games with "Catchup" switched on: you get more boost if you are behind!
Get on the official forums and find out which car works best for each track. For example, I am near unbeatable on the RainGod Mesa in the Ronin (highly stable car) but can barely place in the Patriot Surger (rides the bumps badly).

I just want more control options damn it! Pleeeeease add right stick throttle on the next update.

Would like to see in-race maps so you can tell where the competition are. Also race positions in top left corner.

I like all this added stuff that is coming out for MotorStorm but I want split-screen bad. I would even pay for it as a download. So may be in the next update I will finally see that.
darkpuppet @ Dec 12th 2007 12:30PM
now, if only they could patch it so cars had working headlights -- then the last1/3rd of the game would be fun.

Perhaps they can do something about the homicidal/suicidal AI that the two weekend add-ons have featured. I swear if I get cheap-shotted one more time by the game I may have to throw something. Seriously, tough AI is fine, but these guys are simply out to take you out, they don't care about their pace in the race at all. Quite the annoyance when you're trying to complete the tickets to unlock the extras. I paid for it, either give me an unlock code, or do something about the stupid, frustrating and annoying AI.
Apart from that, great DLC, thanks Evolution.
Now, fix your damned AI!
