Don't have a credit card? Want to purchase things on the PLAYSTATION Store? No worries. Now you have the PLAYSTATION Network card. The kind folks at SCEA sent us an early Christmas gift -- a card that's redeemable for PS3 and PSP purchases on the PLAYSTATION Store. No further details have been officially released, but rest assured that these cards will be readily available in retail stores in the future.
I was just looking for these last week on google. I wasn't sure if they had them or not and found out it was just in Japan. Yay now I can actually get some PSN games.
damn! its not a huge deal, you get kinda used to paying an extra 13% on everything. I had a brain fart earlier... duh! 20$ is 20$ its just wont buy you something worth "20$" :P
wow money cards always have the money that says on them and they never have tax. The companies sell it for a little cheaper and the store sells it for more.
I hope this means they are coming to Canada as well. They should partner with some big companie like McDonalds or Walmart to have them at every checkout.
Good on you Sony.
Theres been a card redeem thing under account settings for quite some time now.
We also need this for Europe. Come on sort it out Sony, how long does it take? The PSN store has already been coded to take it (as it's already running in Japan).
Dude, you won't believe this but JUST TODAY! I got issue #2 of PlayStation: The Official Magazine and in the Letters section, there was a question about PLAYSTATION Cards and the magazine's reply was "By the time you read this, SCEA will have made an announcement about this" and I was like...where is it?
And here it is! YES! Lol.
But yeah, all of my purchases have been made using prepaid debit cards, which make you end up loosing money because they have a monthly fee so when you have exactly $5 left, you can't add it and because you can't add in increments of $1 on the PSN, I have money left over on the card that can't be spent. It really blows...
Might be handy for Non US/NA folks who want to be able to purchase items from the US store too. The price is usually comparable between US & UK store, and as it'd always have the English language theres no reason to not get the US version rather than wait 3+ weeks for the same item to be translated into languages you dont care to ever use.
I don't have a credit card, but those pre-paid Debit card gift card doohickeys from American Express have worked peachy for me. I know that's what everyone suggests on the us.playstation.com forums.
it they are anything like the 360 point cards then all you do is scratch the code from the back of the card, log in to your account and go where it says "redeem code" then enter the code in.
but i've never used a PS3 account so I wouldn't know.
I wish they would have had that out in the stores now, they would have made great stocking stuffers! But it's good to see that this is pretty much confirmed, they've had the "use playstation network card" option in the account management section for a while now.
I tried using a credit card to download omega dawn and it said my card was invalid even though my info was right and it has enough credit on it. anybody had this problem with a credit card or PSN card?

Took them long enough. They should be nice to give us a free game while they are at it. you know. tis the season. ;)
Draco @ Dec 13th 2007 6:09PM
Thats great, but I guess they will have to sell them instore for something like $17.70 +tax (Manitoba 6%GST+7%PST) so it equals the exact $20.
wem003 @ Dec 13th 2007 6:12PM
If its like iTunes cards you are paying $20 for $20.
Then your purchase on the store is where tax is collected.
xrich @ Dec 13th 2007 7:36PM

Vincent @ Dec 13th 2007 6:35PM
Does this mean people who are in a region that is not supported by SCEA (like South America) will now be able to purchase stuff?

Awesome! Finally!
