Media Manager software now free to download
Sony is offering their PSP Media Manager software ... FOR FREE. This nifty bit of code allows you to easily transfer files, such as photos, music and videos to your PSP. Most readers of PSP Fanboy should already know how to use PSP's file system, but for those that are new to the system, this is a definite must-have. You'll have to download the program from the Japanese site, but rest assured -- as Kotaku found out, the program will run in English.
A Pro version is also available for those that want more. Who thinks that Sony should bundle this kind of software with every PSP? We certainly do. Sony should make it easy to get the most out of their hardware.

tim @ Mar 9th 2008 8:58PM
just downloaded the free psp media manager 1.0 to run program requires a serial number. Where would i get this info? not included in the readme file. HELP!!! totally lost
Tanya @ Dec 18th 2007 10:20AM
that should have had it included with the psp from the beginning (much like ipods/itunes). I think that would have solved a lot of people's gripes about not knowing how to put media onto their PSP's.

Mac support please, c'mon you're killing me!
joey @ Dec 18th 2007 10:56AM
What NO Mac support?
I guess I can deal with Parallels for now.
I give SONY Kudos for finally trying after two years.
Alien @ Dec 18th 2007 11:10AM
Wow , this free software is pretty unexpected . Sony is really trying lately :D
[.sm0ke.] @ Dec 18th 2007 11:13AM
Still trying to figure out why I bought the software in the first place when I already had an iPod...
superaktieboy @ Dec 18th 2007 11:33AM
Sony, your next step is to put this on a disc (cd/dvd w/e you want) and give it free with every PSP!!
.P@BsLpKn @ Dec 18th 2007 11:47AM
now this take me by surprise, finally Sony is doing the right moves, thumbs up for Sony.

FYI: Keyword there Poeple "Free to DOWLNOAD" ,. Not use! ,. it requires activation ,. this is just the download nothing more
Vinkoniggma @ Feb 2nd 2008 4:50PM
It took me 3 tries to finally activate it. The first two times I tried to activate w/o my personal info but it wouldn't register nor would the support site connect. I didn't give up so I tried again but this time WITH my personal info. Guess what? It worked. Sony wants American souls. I gave them a fake one!
disposition @ Dec 18th 2007 2:41PM
Actually... it is free to use. They just require that you register with or without user information in order to use it. Big whoop.
aeron @ Dec 18th 2007 5:13PM
sony better return the 20$ I spent on this overrated peice o' **** then.
Dehshizknight @ Dec 21st 2007 1:35PM
Yes, but you also payed for the material packaging and disk. They wouldn't return your money if they're loosing money on production.
Don @ Dec 18th 2007 6:03PM
So... this free version doesn't have any video conversion capabilities???
And.. it requires some sort of registration?
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Dec 18th 2007 7:13PM
Well like Stringer said, this looks like one of the first step's Sony is doing to start becoming a major media company that could rival Apple and Microsoft.
...and this is definitely a GOOD first step.
FOXHOUND @ Dec 19th 2007 12:32PM
I just wish it hadn't taken them so long to do. Granted, it took trial and error back in March'05 to figure out what went where; but if SONY wants to be more user-friendly right out of the box... throw in this MediaManager with the handheld, as PSPFanboy mentioned.
Damo @ Dec 19th 2007 3:57PM
If you purchased the older version and they haven't offered the free update to the newer PRO version, flick sony creative software an email - they upgraded mine for no charge.
alberto @ Jan 7th 2008 12:18PM
at last something usefull
