PS Fanboy Best of 2007: Best Puzzle Game

Who doesn't like puzzle games? 2007 saw the release of a plethora of puzzle games on systems like the Nintendo DS and the PSP, but lucky for us, loyal PS3 addicts worldwide got their hands on a few excellent brain-teasers as well.
The nominees for PS3 Fanboy - Best Puzzle Game are...
Zoonami/Cohort Studios | Sony Computer Entertainment

Coming in a pack with some other minigames, Go! Puzzle delighted us with varying challenges of varying difficulty with varying results. It was a plethora of puzzle goodness for a very decent price and for those who enjoy thinking about their games, it did its job.

Another Go! title, this time with the puzzle that took the world by storm: the Sudoku puzzle. This puzzle game was basically that page of your newspaper in high definition, but without as many pencil scribblings. It's Sudoku. It's fun.

there's no competition for Portal (Orange Box)!!!
it's the obvious winner in puzzles!!!
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Dec 19th 2007 8:00PM
THIS WAS A TRIUMPH

Overlooking Portal in this category should be a felony.
Also, didn't the PS3 get Puzzle Quest? That's a damn fine puzzle game if you ask me. Still probably like Puzzle Fighter better (for second place, naturally).

PSP got PQ. As did DS and XBL. It hasn't been released on the PSN yet, but it should be...

Puzzle Fighter for Best Puzzle Game, Best Fighting Game, Best Downloadable Game
Jason @ Dec 19th 2007 3:50PM
I'm not much of a puzzle game fan, but out of these three I would vote for Puzzle Fighter. I'm looking forward to Echochrome being puzzle game of the year next year.

Honestly, all of these suck. Portal sounds interesting, but it's fairly low on my to-buy list, and contrary to what the 360 fanboys say, we have so many good games on the PS3 I don't know if I'll be able to afford to buy my way that low on the list.
Dru @ Dec 19th 2007 5:02PM
I've been thinking the same thing, Nate. There are still a few games out there that I'd like to play and seem to be worth my money, but I don't really want to spend the $60 although I could afford it. There are way too many games sitting next to my PS3 that are screaming to be played some more. Uncharted, R&C, AC, CoD4, SW Legos, EoJ, just to name a few. I still need to get Shivering Isles so there goes another 50-100 hours of my life!

I already sent a reply hours ago, but it seems to have not been posted...
Are you still that upset over what Gabe Newell said about the PS3? :) The Orange Box has more of a PC gaming following, and just because other people say it's good does not make it honestly bad. I cannot wait for Portal because I think that it is an amazing concept. I think it's pretty lame of anyone to say that a game is not as important just because it's not exclusive to their system of choice.
Also, none of these games suck at all. You just seem to not be a puzzle person. Meanwhile, myself, I have loved playing Go! Sudoku and Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. Whether they are good or not is an opinion.

puzzle fighter, hands down
Geph @ Dec 19th 2007 5:24PM
Puzzle Fighter is the most fun game, but like Tekken 5 it's really just a port with a facelift. For that reason, I vote for Go! Puzzle. Because Sudoku just isn't that fun to play when you have a PS3 in front of you.
alienclays @ Dec 19th 2007 6:05PM
that sudoku game whould be remote play compatable.
and why don't we have a downloadable lumines? that game with extra downloadable songs would rip a dimentional time space tear in my bank account.
linebeginstoblur @ Dec 19th 2007 9:58PM
It's really puzzling why the PSN doesn't have a Lumines, especially since Xbox 360 already has Lumines Live!. Lumines started on a Sony platform, and I'd like to see Q Entertainment continue to develop for Sony (especially including Every Extend Extra Extreme and that HD version of Rez that Xbox Live is getting soon).
Barndo111 @ Dec 19th 2007 7:29PM
I'm really surprised that Lumines hasn't had a PSN version released for the PS3 yet.
Sudoku is ok but when you can buy twenty books of it at the grocery store, it's just not as interesting.
SSFXXVHFHDPF Turbo or whatever is a port of an old game so....yeah.
My vote goes to Go! Puzzle. It's the only original (ish) game up there. Although it's probably just a rehash of stuff I've already played. I should probably check it out first. Or I just don't like Sudoku. A lot.
Are there any new original puzzle ideas out there?
TheEnd187 @ Dec 19th 2007 7:30PM
I liked go puzzle
linebeginstoblur @ Dec 19th 2007 10:02PM
This is unrelated, but there's been something I've been dying to say for so long. If Tetris were ever on the PSN, I would download it in a heartbeat. I don't care if it's the same old game, I've been dying to get a full version of that game, and HD would be a great plus.
