Devil May Cry 4 being bundled in Japan

Due out on the 31st of January, alongside the game, the bundle will retail for 47,800 yen. That's around 212 GBP, 294 Euros or 422 USD by today's standards. Not a bad deal at all. Since the price drop sales in Japan have been increasing nicely and, hopefully, this bundle will only improve the situation.

How long is the gap between the american release and the Jap release of DMC4? I might have to run out and get the import version. The funny thing is it was Devil May cry 1 that made me get an import PS2 back in 2000 (or was it 2001). When I saw the trailer I was like "WOW THAT IS SOOO SICK".

The U.S. release is about a week from the Japanese release. January 31st compared to February 8th, your call.

The only problem is that Japanese release will have everything in Japanese ;)

Not necessarily. Haven't you seen the Japanese trailers they're in English but the subtitles are in Japanese.

That's a whole week, man! I wouldn't risk it! import IMPORT!
Seriously, with no white console on the horizon in the US, I may just import myself.

That's a bad idea. All the expats that bring their non-Japanese consoles to Japan (and vice versa) have problems with the Store and other things. PS3's are designed to be born in a region and used in that region.

This is where the rubber meets the road. We will see if Japan really is losing interest in a lot of traditional PlayStation series that are Japanese-created.
Hot Shots Golf didn't do a whole lot of PS3-selling. Neither did a lot of other games that they usually just eat up over there. Hasn't Gundam so far been the biggest unit-pusher for them? If DMC4 doesn't sell units(ie: bundles) then I can see a lot of these series being heavily westernized from here on out. If Japanese gamers aren't buying them anymore Capcom and the likes are going to stop going out of their way to try and make the games appeal to them.

I believe Dynasty Warriors 6 has been the biggest recent system seller in the Japanese market, which is consistent with past trends. That was my impression, anyway.

Funny thing is, believe it or not the language barrier really doesnt hurt soo bad when you play imports. I have been playing imports since snes (my fist was Captain Cammando). To be honest only rpg's give a real problem. By the time the Dreamcast came out in the US I had finished like 2/3 of the launch line-up already (Blue Stinger was awesome).

I wonder if they'll try a Metal Gear bundle, there or in the states.

Is the U.S. *ever* getting the white ps3?
I think the bundle (with either DMC or MGS4) would sell like hotcakes.
BananaBoat @ Dec 20th 2007 6:48PM
This bundle would sell a hell of alot better than the Motorstorm bundle. Now, I'm not saying Motorstorm is a bad game...but come on...put a real game in the bundle.
I wouldn't buy it though. My receiver is black, my speakers are black, my DVD player is black, my sat box is black etc etc. I don't understand the logic behind Microsoft and (now) Sony coming out with glossy white components that don't match a single thing.
Oh and...I am rather enjoying Motorstorm. I'd rather have gotten a free copy of Resistance or Warhawk though.
