PS Fanboy Best of 2007: Best Strategy Game

Stay tuned all this week as we reveal the our nominees for the very best games of 2007. Winners will be declared on December 27th.

2007 didn't really see the release of many strategy games. The games are generally slow-paced, involve a lot of micromanagement, and have branching stories that lead to a multitude of endings. Whether turn-based, real-time, or some sort of middle ground, strategy games almost always make for an exciting gaming experience. Knowing this, we should mention the single strategy game that earns an automatic victory this year.

The winner of PS3 Fanboy - Best Strategy Game is:

Bladestorm
Omega Force | Koei

Bladestorm is the only real strategy game to have found its way onto store shelves this year and it was a surprisingly decent adventure, if repetitive and slow at times. Since there's nothing to compete against it, we have to say something we thought we wouldn't say: Congratulations, Koei. You've won. You've finally won.

uh...well maybe they want to start doing this annually and then you'll see how much fun it will be in the coming years. Sure, the PS3 doesn't have too many games, but there's definitely enough good ones to start annual awards.

I agree MetaGeek. This is just making the PS3 look bad atm, next year to include this cathegory could be proven worthy, but not now... not yet :/ Just like the Fighting one, Tekken 5: DR should be under Downloadable Game and it's a port, yet people felt the need to pit it against the only other fighting game available for PS3 which is actually made for next-gen, VF5.

Seriously. Can we get a contact email for the higher ups? This is a talent waste. It seems like they could have you writting on your regular topics.

Tell them to hire my little sister to write about the best MMORPG catagory so you can get back to breaking news.

That is unless it's Peter. If Peter is asking you to do this, then I want to suggest a boxing match instead. Why? Not because I have a thing against him (he was nice when we met), but if Uwe Boll can challenge the press, then I want to also.

due to theres only like 1 game

Quit your griping people. First of all, this post is hilarious. Secondly, this game is an RPG if anything. Thirdly, it's pretty fun if you don't expect an action game. Fourthly, real-time strat games suck on consoles, period. I'll be interested to see Pixel-Junk Monsters, but all the rest just try to use the controller as a mouse, which doesn't work. If you've ever played an RTS on the PC, you know what I mean.

I've got an idea... how about we take the 2007 award and put it in a box, clearly label it and put it in a closet. Then next year we give the winner of the 2008 award the 2007 award too. You know, because it was in development during 2007... and, well, anything but giving the award to Bladestorm.
