Devil May Cry 4 to include hard drive install, 5.1 LPCM audio, PSN support
You may not like Capcom for porting the former PS3-exclusive Devil May Cry 4 to the Xbox 360. But, can you take comfort in knowing that the PS3 version is still superior than its 360 counterpart? If you watched this episode of The 1UP Show, you would've heard the 1UP editors agree that the PS3 version looks and plays better than the 360 version. In addition, a new issue of Famitsu reveals some features that are sure to make PS3 owners quite happy.
An optional hard drive install will supposedly remove all load times from the game. But, be warned -- it's quite a hefty install at nearly 5GB. Not only will load times be shortened on the PS3, but audiophiles will be glad to hear that the PS3 version also includes 5.1 LPCM audio. There's also support for the PSN, although how exactly it will work is still unclear. Regardless, it makes us glad to see the PS3 version of DMC4 get extra functionality.

Good news for PS3 owners but we all know Capcom has no soul.
Popfrogs @ Dec 26th 2007 6:53PM
No, it's EA that has no soul. Capcom has no loyalty.
Dehshizknight @ Dec 26th 2007 6:58PM
I guess its because I never played Madden '08 but I still like EA. I guess I saw them as a lazy developer but after seeing Orange Box for PS3, I can forgive them. Lol, they did a pretty good job on that.

"Capcom has no loyalty."
Loyalty? Is this another one of those BS arguments where people whine over the fact that Capcom is in the games business to make MONEY? Multi-platform releases are fiscally smart, period. Unless one of the console publishers is willing to pony up some dough to make a title "exclusive", there is virtually ZERO reason why they should limit their games to a single platform. Go lob your emotov cocktails at a company that actually deserves it.
I look forward to seeing how well the load times are reduced with such a large install. If it's anything like the RE Outbreak games on the PS2 (which dropped some of the insane 35 second loads to maybe 10 seconds), I'm going to be quite happy with it.

Well, Square Enix seems to be doing well with the FF exclusives all the way since the PS1. I remember when Capcom screwed Nintendo with the Resident Evil exclusives and ported RE4.

No cooperation does, it's about money... Which all it ever is about, good...
PSN... I wonder...

no load time in exchange for 5gigs??count me in!Wasnt UT3 supposed to load a boat load on the HD as well?I check package and it said 250MB

I own both a 360 and a PS3 and was conflicted on which version of DMC4 to buy, PS3 version to keep it in the Sony family (I got the first 3) or 360 (achievements are a plus lol), this extra PS3 stuff just settled it for me. And from what I've seen, visually they look the same.
Dehshizknight @ Dec 26th 2007 6:57PM
If Home comes out around the time of the release of Devil May Cry 4, then you'll get your achievements soon enough. Lol.
Dehshizknight @ Dec 26th 2007 7:04PM
I think every Devil May Cry fan will get the PS3 version simply because of the controller. Since all the previous iterations were for the PS2, and since the PS3 controller is pretty much the same thing (with some much needed improvements), they would totally prefer the PS3 version.
I used to think loading times weren't that bad but after playing Orange Box I realized that it can directly affect the experience of the game.
Dru @ Dec 26th 2007 7:54PM
Long load times are horrible and ruin the experience. After playing through Uncharted without a single load screen or any loading, period, I never want to go back! I'd happily give up 5GB for it. Hopefully other devs will think to do the same when developing for both consoles. I always forget that some 360s don't even have a h/d.
LAZoftheTamarinds @ Dec 27th 2007 2:02AM
Oh man Uncharted was Phenomenal! The only load time was when you load your savegame. After that it was all smooth sailing. No load times between levels. :)
Patrick @ Dec 26th 2007 8:57PM
Things like this are precisely why I upgraded to a 160 GB hard drive.
LAZoftheTamarinds @ Dec 27th 2007 1:58AM
NO LOADTIMES? That is great!!! I'll gladly sacrifice 5gb for it. :)
Shadowhaxor @ Dec 27th 2007 9:55AM

Thats funny, since Kobayashi stated that Devil May Cry 4 on the Ps3 and Xbox360 show no graphical differences and if you also watched the the side by side footage on gametrailers, you would have saw that the Xbox360 version was more colorful and sharper.
... No further comments.
chris silcock @ Dec 27th 2007 10:41AM
actually, gametrailers.com has effed up most of their PS3 videos to date due to them running their PS3 with incorrect settings. I recently changed these on my PS3 and now assassin's creed looks far better than before. The whites are nice and bright and the colours are sharp and crisp :) There is little or no difference between the 360 and PS3 versions, except what was mentioned in the article...
Thank god for non-optional HDD's :) Good on ya Sony!

Any reason why this story hasn't been posted on Joystiq yet?
