Ladies and gentlemen, meet the PlayStation 3 Kid
First, there was the Nintendo 64 Kid, and now, years later, the PlayStation 3 Kid has arrived. After being hoodwinked by his parents and apparently being perfectly happy with just getting a box, this little guy has an all-too familiar reaction upon opening a new PS3 on Christmas.
Sony, if you're seeing this, we've found you your next line of commercials. "OH MY GAAAWWWWD!"

Bill Kutargi @ Dec 30th 2007 1:19PM
And so, It begins.
Easo @ Dec 30th 2007 1:25PM
My parents would have seriously taken back my gifts if I reacted like that. The way kids talk to their parents today is simply disrespectful and rude.
Dehshizknight @ Dec 30th 2007 1:36PM
Agreed. I'm only 15 but I treat my parents with respect.
Well, maybe its because they're foreign and they'll beat me.
ScottH @ Dec 30th 2007 1:37PM
i agree. kids are disrespectful. But this was just excitement. The beginning of it was the disrespectful part.
Noshino @ Dec 30th 2007 1:40PM
Dehshizknight
HAHAHA, yah, that is what we all foreigns say about US people...
"Well, maybe its because they're foreign and they'll beat me."
Steve McGinn @ Dec 30th 2007 2:18PM
there was nothing wrong with them talking that way, they got the wrong game it was x-mas i can understand why he would act like that, i would have done that if i was 15 years younger and in that place...the parents thought nothing of it
TheWakeUpCall @ Dec 30th 2007 7:42PM
Not all children speak like that, but you're right, that kid was dreadful.
monkiboyjerry @ Jan 4th 2008 9:33PM
This is the ps3 kids dad .please go to you tube a read my reply .
Anthony @ Dec 30th 2007 1:29PM
so your saying u coudnt show any excitement.... i guess u had a f'd up life.... let these kids have there fun. And after all there just kids
Dehshizknight @ Dec 30th 2007 1:41PM
I don't think he was referring to the excitement.
I think he's referring to when the kid says "Do you have the 'receet'?!".
Brarei2oo @ Dec 31st 2007 11:35AM
Haha. I remember when I got my Playstation 3 back in October. I thought I wasn't getting one. But when I opened it, man was I excited!!! Enjoy your new Playstation 3!!!
SuperGayParade @ Dec 30th 2007 1:40PM
"Let's open this one now!" at the end... a true testament to the next generation's attention span.
ryan @ Dec 30th 2007 1:40PM
well itas understandable for the initial reactions becasue as far as hew knew they had no ps3.. what they should of done is made sure they opened the ps3 first...
hell i would probably react the same way if i opened up a game for a system i dont even have
Leo @ Jan 3rd 2008 11:02PM
It happened to me when I got my PS2. It was a bunch of gifts all together. First was a memory card, then a controller, then 2 games... then the PS2. It's kinda fun when you get surprised. :)
Kevin @ Dec 30th 2007 1:41PM
Anthony, I don't think you understand. I'm 14 and I realize that these kids are seriously disrespectful or just 360 owners.
If you got a guy with a 360 a PS3 game, I mean come on. But adults could have honestly made a mistake, don't treat them like" GOD YOU ARE SO STEWPID!!!!!1!"
But nowadays I think it's just those shows on like Disney Channel or Adult Swim. ( By Disney Channel I mean Hannah Montana or some thing like that. My sister watches them. I hate it. I would rather be playing COD4.)
Kspraydad @ Dec 30th 2007 1:50PM
Ah yes...soon to be joined by the I'm 16 and Preggie show with baby Spears.
Family Channel...um, you're supposed to entertain my kids not 'normalize' teen pregnancy.
Tom @ Jan 3rd 2008 10:28AM
Yes, TV makes kids evil. I think there's an 'Adult' in Adult Swim for a reason.
Anthony @ Dec 30th 2007 1:46PM
i apoligize..i didnt understand what u were tryin to say
NeoRaiden @ Dec 30th 2007 1:55PM
I like how they're still going to have to return something...
The kid said they don't even have a playstation 1...
Now they have the 40gb playstation 3...
One of his presents was transformers for playstation 2...
Therefore he won't be able to play the game. I'm not surprised they made this mistake. People suck at doing their jobs. They don't know jack s*** in the department they work in. I remember overhearing someone in the store asking what the difference is between the 40 gb and 80 gb other than the hard disk space, and the employee replied "Uh, that, and you get a free game, motorstorm." IDIOT. Just one example of how employees suck at what they do. I have a million of them.
Popfrogs @ Dec 30th 2007 2:47PM
Well, what I've found is, the less you pay people the less they care about their jobs. Retail sucks anyway so it takes a certain kind of person to put up with nonsense from the public on a daily basis. Then retail jobs don't pay much...so there ya go.
Darkdrium777 @ Dec 30th 2007 5:32PM
They actually have a PS2 already, so playing Transformers won't be a problem ;) Go read the comments on YouTube, the dad isn't as stupid as you seem to think he is...
All of you people are talking about how disrespectful that kid is, well come on! Who is disrespectful? The kid who says: "Hey, we don't have a PS3!" or all the others who say: "Man this kid is so stupid for actually stating the obvious". Keep in mind that he's probably ten years old (ie Star Wars and Transformers games are exciting at this age, evidenced by his reaction to the opening of Transformers) so he's most definitely not mature enough to think like you guys seem to think. Besides, it's his dad, so he can be a little more familiar with him... I personally do not see any controversy in this video (Apparently I'm alone on that one since there are so many comments about how that kid acted) so what's the deal? Why is everyone accusing that kid of something he definitely did not do intentionally? (He doesn't think like you guys who are 17 or 18, therefore he didn't think it was disrespectful, it's his education that has to teach him that, and obviously since he's 10 that did not fully happen yet...) Besides he got the PS3 afterwards, and that was the whole idea of the joke. I'm sure that if someone had pulled the same prank on you at the same age, you would've acted the same way. There is no doubt about that, that's how kids think, all the time.
Please people, can't you be happy when you see someone happy about opening a Christmas present? What's the deal with all these dark and accusatory thoughts?
Bevoman03 @ Dec 30th 2007 1:58PM
Another 7 y-o to Pwn
Dehshizknight @ Dec 30th 2007 3:47PM
Funny thing is, when I'm new to a game, its the young ones that kill me the most. Lol.
Fiefdom @ Dec 30th 2007 2:12PM
Bloody hell, so many of you adhere to such a ridiculously archaic perspective. The kid looks between eleven and thirteen and there was no malice whatsoever in the statement. Please explain how such behavior is going to be detrimental to his development as a civilized human being in the long run because I've been acquainted with a lot of American children who would act in a similar manner and ended up just as congenial as most other young adults I've come across. Please explain why such an innocent query on the child's part demands disciplinary action for infringing on the boundaries of disrespectful behavior. Grow up. It may be in your best interest to become familiar with the fact that many societies in first world countries are drifting away from disparaging their youth for trivial infractions of totalitarian demands for respect and chivalry; only those born with a disagreeable disposition in the first place are apt to retain disagreeable behavioral patterns throughout their lives.
Fun video, I was surprised by how much the little sister got into it.
Szu @ Dec 30th 2007 2:55PM
There was the N64 kid.
The N64 fell behind the PS1.
Now, we get the PS3 kid.
The PS3 is falling behind the Wii.
The circle is now complete.
MBO @ Dec 30th 2007 9:05PM
yes, but the ps3 is obviously catching up and i have no doubt it'll flatten the wii in like half a year.
usagi704 @ Dec 31st 2007 11:44AM
Wow, what logic you have! I bet you're religious with that kind of logic.
Chris @ Dec 31st 2007 5:16PM
I remember that I reacted the same way when I opened my NES for Christmas so long ago.
Organic_Shadow @ Dec 30th 2007 2:57PM
My dad pulled the 'oops, wrong version' trick on me with a Sega CD back in the day...
nobody528 @ Dec 30th 2007 3:06PM
I'm with Bevoman03. Let's hope this kid gets a PSN ID quickly so I can pwn him before I have to go back to work :D
On another note, I have a strange feeling that (if the parents are smart & know what they're doing) the parents will get more use out of the system than the boy. Then again, the system may end up thrown in a messy room letting its Blu-ray and other media streaming potential go to waste.
Joface @ Dec 30th 2007 11:54PM
I agree nobody528, they are like 8 years old if even that. They needed something less maturely based. The two games that they got are like the only games they can play. That was an excuse for the gamer father to get a PS3.
on a side note, I want to smack that kid.
REMY @ Dec 30th 2007 3:32PM
Um... they didn't seem all that excited. The boy was like "lets see what's in this box now" ?!? (after opening and finding out they got a PS3) Maybe it would be best to cut the video off at Oh my GAWWWWWWWWWD!!!
Patrick @ Dec 30th 2007 6:37PM
Im 26 and love seeing these videos, brings back many happy memories or Christmas mornings as a kid, their reactions are always priceless.
I look forward pulling these sorts of stunts when I have kids thats for sure.
MattMN @ Dec 30th 2007 7:43PM
Great video but I would have gone for trying to get my kids a 60 GB if they can still be found.
And what's with the flat panel TV in the background? Who buys a a flat-panel in 4:3 aspect ratio and not widescreen?
Darkdrium777 @ Dec 30th 2007 10:06PM
Someone who bought it a few years ago, when widescreen was not as popular.
chops nz @ Dec 30th 2007 7:41PM
sony could use that guns n roses song "oh my god" off the end of days soundtrack for there ads.
TheWakeUpCall @ Dec 30th 2007 7:42PM
hahahha we have a new legend on the scene. Move over N64 kid, we now have PS3 kid, and he has the catch phrase
'oh my god! I guess we don't have to replace that game after all!'
And I love the dad for playing along with everything, so funny. He sounds like a funny guy.
m0nty @ Jan 1st 2008 5:00PM
Wait till he finds out there's nothing worth playing on it.
Just me.. @ Dec 31st 2007 6:30AM
I love my ps3 but for a kid i would buy a Wii.. seems to me daddy wanted a ps3 ;-)
Chris @ Dec 31st 2007 6:54AM
Well, my wife wanted an iPod for Christmas, so I got her a Halo 3 Zune. :)
True_Darknight @ Dec 31st 2007 10:58AM
hahaha I did this to my nephew and what not. Sent him UT3 and he was all like 'Oh man, he got me the wrong game'. HAhha but he was older and didn't scream like a girl... i think.... now I have to make an 'Oh My GAWWWWWD' UT server!!
PS - Anyone is welcome to come join my server when I'm home.. Named 'UT RULES'---- COME GET SOME!
usagi704 @ Dec 31st 2007 11:56AM
What is with all of the prude jerks?
Boyo @ Dec 31st 2007 6:50PM
The second I got my PS3 on christmas I yelled: It's a nintendo 64!!!
Konchu @ Dec 31st 2007 5:50PM
No need to be hard on the kid for being excited. I didn't see him being rude at all being cute trying to be knowledgeable. Kids gotta keep there parents in check on that stuff ya know as they don't always get it(I think these parents do).
Kinda reminds me when I got my NES I had wanted it so bad so opening it was a dream I can still smell the wonderful aroma of new electronics when I open the box that crisp Styrofoams embrace of the system and hooking it up to a ancient console television from the dawn of color television in all its wood grain glory. Good times though this video still doesn't top N64 kid reactions.
John @ Dec 31st 2007 10:51PM
This looks like the same kid as the Nintendo Kid, with his sister. But I kept waiting for the slo-mo "AAAAAUUUGGGGHHHHH MY GAAAAAAWWWDDDDDD>>>>"
Vincent @ Jan 1st 2008 9:53PM
Man that was cute XD Reminds me of when I got my Mega Drive 15 years ago ^^'
Bucket @ Jan 2nd 2008 11:32AM
I can't say my niece and nephew reacted that way when I got them their Wii this Christmas... although it's been a pain in the ass reminding their parents who I bought it for.
Jake5678 @ Jan 2nd 2008 1:13PM
Awesome...
dan @ Jan 2nd 2008 3:18PM
in no way does this beat the n64 kid
