Metal Gear Saga video now translated
Despite the fact that Metal Gear 20th Anniversary: Metal Gear Solid Collection still hasn't seen a Western release, we can now enjoy at least one part of the collection. Included in the box set is the Metal Gear Saga video, which is narrated by an unnamed character who apparently had a run-in with Solid Snake sometime in the past.
Since the video was entirely in Japanese we couldn't understand what was being said until the guys at MetalGearSolid.org recently translated the video. It's a pretty interesting and definitely a treat for Metal Gear fans.

I love the boys over at TUS. hope they could get the site back up :( i feel lonely and out of place.
Its a good video to get perceptive on Solid Snake(old snake) and a great recap of the MGS series. Cheers for an awesome MGS4!

A year or two after MGS4, they should bring out a box set of every MGS along with bonuses such as this video etc.

Hey, I know this is off topic but I have been out of town for the last couple of weeks and saw that SuperStardust HD got an European upgrade. Anybody know if this made its way to the US store yet?
Lard @ Jan 3rd 2008 8:59PM
Awesome, awesome video.
Why do I get the feeling that the narrator is some sort of hint for the game?
Justin @ Jan 3rd 2008 9:02PM
...go on...
Lard @ Jan 3rd 2008 9:11PM
Well the narrator said he met Solid Snake in the Middle East - during the first game? And followed the rest of his career?
I get the feeling someone from MG 1 is going to turn up.
Justin @ Jan 3rd 2008 9:15PM
I just finished it. I get what you're saying now.
He said something else sort of 'spoiling' near the end also...
something about how he will continue on after Snake dies.
God I can't wait for this game.
Lard @ Jan 3rd 2008 9:30PM
Neither can I.
If it's as good as Snake Eater (which I loved and think is the best of the series), I'm going to be ecstatic.
Justin @ Jan 3rd 2008 9:46PM
There's no way KP can bomb on this one...
If they do...man...I'd be one unhappy camper.
Lard @ Jan 3rd 2008 10:02PM
Not with Big Mama added in the story!
Ruben @ Jan 3rd 2008 10:38PM
It must be the guy that appears at the end of one of the trailers that looks like a next gen version of young solid snake.
Nonhippyhippy @ Jan 4th 2008 7:45AM
u comment jus made me think that maybe the narrator is the young snake from the trailer and is a clone of old snake. maybe the patriots set up all the incidents before to pit each of the original clones against each other to find out who is the strongest and then clone them to continue the line of super soldiers..

Let's face it, MGS is the best thing since sliced bread, thongs, or ipods. Really, MGS is just the best thing ever. The fourth iteration can't come soon enough... though i'm shipping for basic training this sunday, and won't be back till june... so Really, as long as it comes out before then, I'm cool. That and army of two. i forgot about that one. looks fun, ya know?
troy @ Jan 4th 2008 12:19AM
Omg i cant wait till the 4th metal gear solid comes out. and honestly if people want to get mgs 4 they have to play through all the games.... but this video was a big recap, and they didnt mention that liquid is controlling ocelot through the arm in the video,,,,, or maybe i just missed it .... anyways kojima is a genious, the mgs serious is amazing fun and epic, and i love how he can impliment so much emotion in the games. anyways WOO FOR MGS!
Tim Parsons @ Jan 4th 2008 12:36AM
Cool awesome Video for catching up considering I've never played a single Metal Gear game ,.
Dahk @ Jan 4th 2008 12:47AM
Lol Ruben, I believe that's Raiden.
Anyway, that was such an awwwwesome video. Definitely can't wait for MGS4. They didn't explain Liquid's control over Ocelot, though like troy pointed out.
Heh I thought I was the only one to like Snake Eater a lot. Those end of game battles were EPIC. Most adrenaline that has run through my blood since the older days of dragonboating. Daaaaammmn that was good.
MJ @ Jan 4th 2008 12:24PM
I think he means the young snake that appears in the trailer where the bird craps on him at the end (whilst hiding as a statue).
I can't wait for 4, going to play through each mgs game as soon as the release date for this is announced, really hope that this isn't delayed though!
WTF iz dat about @ Jan 4th 2008 4:41AM
This may sound strange but I think the narrator is Johnny Akiba. I mean the narrator did say he has been following him for sometime now and Johnny has been in all the metal gear solid games and if Hideo can turn ol androgynous Raiden into the a ninja badass then he can easily turn the comic relief in are MGS days into a key part in the story line.
BlackFox5 @ Jan 4th 2008 1:37PM
I love how every piece of MGS Games have some sort of connections with each other.
Kojima is a pure Genius!
mr_grimm @ Jan 4th 2008 2:00PM
maybe the narrator is kojima himself, he "met" snake during the first game, have stayed with him ever since, and maybe he says that he will continue to make metal gear games even after solids dead, even though he said this was his last metal gear. in anycase, kojima is a clever one.
SPAWNGA @ Jan 5th 2008 9:13AM
A very well put together video but... at the end of the original MGS they clearly stated that Liquid Snake was in fact Snake #1, the most accurate clone of Big Boss, and not Solid Snake as everybody believed, which in fact was the 'deffective' one. That was Liquid's whole hatred against Solid Snake. Liquid thought HE was the defective one. However they failed to mention this on the video. Whatever happened to that plot twist? Was it intentionally left out? Did somebody forgot to mention it in this video? Although it sounds like an insignificant detail of the story, I think that they should stick with every aspect of it... Unless it is just a nice japanese fan made video.
