Blu-ray movie releases for the week of Jan. 6
The week keeps getting better and better for Blu-ray supporters. First Warner Bros. chose to go exclusive to Blu-ray and now we have a very nice line-up of movies to choose from.- 3:10 to Yuma
- Sunshine
- The Rock
- Con Air
- Dragon Wars
- Man on Fire
- Night of the Werewolf / Vengeance of the Zombies
- Killing Machine / Shogun's Ninja
- Sister Street Fighter / Sister Street Fighter II
However, things aren't all rainbows and gumdrops. Also released this week is Dragon Wars, one of the most horrible movies to ever grace the Silver Screen. We won't ruin it for you, but the ending of the movie is so bad that you might want to at least rent it for a good laugh.

Heh, I just checked out what Sister Street Fighter was. I thought it was those girls from Sister Sister in a hilarious parody of the video game Street Fighter. I guess a man can dream..
I missed 3:10 to Yuma, gonna have to rent that tonight. Last western Russell Crowe movie I saw was good so hopefully this will too.

The original Street Fighter films with Sonny Chiba are pretty awesome. Sister Street Fighter was part 3 in the SF series I think.

Haha yeah, those were so terrible they were great. Are they out on Blu-ray?

there are some Best Buys (at least here in Houston) that had 3:10 to Yuma and Sunshine out for sell since Friday

Sunshine should be one of the first (if not the first) Blu-Ray profile 1.1 discs. That alone is a reason for picking it up. Besides that, it's a very good SF movie that reminded me of '2001 A Space Oddyssey' at times.

Do you mean that 3:10 to Yuma would rank right up there with classic Westerns like "3:10 to Yuma" maybe?
I haven't seen this remake but the original with Glenn Ford and Van Heflin was great. A similar movie which came out two years later called "Last Train from Gun Hill" was stellar as well.
I guess I will have to rent this, however I am not positive that Bayle and Crowe can match Heflin and Ford.

Things just keep getting bette and better for Blu-Ray. I will probably buy Con Air or The Rock. Westerns aren't my type of movie so I'm not interested in 3:10 To Yuma.

Dragon Wars looks awesome. By awesome, I mean it looks so terrible it's hilarious. Has anyone seen it?

Sunshine is the one to get. Awesome flick directed by Danny Boyle (28 Days later, Trainspotting, The Beach). Deffinitely will show off that killer 1080p and put your contrast ratio to the test. Should be the 2nd Blu-ray to show off to your friends besides Planet Earth.
310 was also a great movie. Christian Bale and Russell Crowe make for a killer show. Good week for BD.

Sunshine is great. I would get it to try out some of the new features of Profile 1.1. The crazy saturated colors and beautiful special effects should translate nicely to Blu Ray.
