ESRB: Street Fighter Alpha coming soon to PSP/PS3
According to the ESRB, retro fighting fans are in for a treat. Street Fighter Alpha is returning as a downloadable title for both PSP and PS3. The ESRB has consistently been an early source for upcoming games, and we're glad to see yet another fighter make its way onto the Network.
PSP and PS3 fighters are few and far apart. Tekken Dark Resurrection stands as one of the few fighters available on (ironically) both platforms. The upcoming addition of Alpha should be a nice way of passing the time until Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, no?

I love the Alpha series. This is a must buy for me. See Sony, more this and less meh. Resident Evil 2 would be nice too since Japan already has it.

I didn't know SCEA owns the IP for Street Fighter, what about Capcom?
So confused this point.
Akamaru @ Jan 7th 2008 8:03AM
They might not own the IP but I'm sure they have a say in what IPs capcom does and doesn't bring over.

I fail to see the irony as noted in the article. I see a coincidence that Tekken is on both platforms, yet I see no irony.

Nice, I loved the Alpha series. However I have a question, do downloadable games work as region free too?
Does anyone here have a Japanese PS3 with the US version of Tekken 5: DR to confirm this?
SQUIRTFORCE @ Jan 6th 2008 8:57PM
TOO BAD I OWN THIS GAME STILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 I bet I could beat ANY OF YOU with Birdie. And I mean that.
Chris @ Jan 6th 2008 10:15PM

Rayman 1 appeared as well, some minutes later, on ESRB as "PSP/Playstation 3" game.
Ryan @ Jan 6th 2008 10:13PM

Prophestus @ Jan 6th 2008 10:44PM
As far as what I've heard, expect sometime this summer like June/July to coincide with SF's 20th anniversary
mr judg @ Jan 6th 2008 10:25PM
Im confused. Wasnt Turbo HD Edition supposed to drop in January?
Organic_Shadow @ Jan 6th 2008 10:25PM
If a PS3/PSN game offers the ability to stream the game to the PSP, like with PixelJunk Monsters, does it have to get a rating approved for PS3 AND PSP?
Prophestus @ Jan 6th 2008 10:46PM
Oops that was supposed to be to #10, mr judg
will @ Jan 6th 2008 11:42PM
damnit... give us Alpha 3 instead!
sammy @ Jan 7th 2008 12:31AM
Maybe it is the PSone version for some odd reason. It must be the case with Rayman.
Kinketsu @ Jan 7th 2008 12:39AM
Excellent, my favorite Street Fighter series! It seems strange to release it close to HD Remix, but I'm not complaining. But given this is Street Fighters 20th, I wonder if this means we're in for some more Alpha releases. If that's the case, I may hold off to see if Alpha 3 turns up, although I already have Max for the PSP, I'd like a copy of Alpha 3 I can play on the big screen (My PS1 disc and PS3 machine are different regions unfortunately)
Vincent @ Jan 7th 2008 8:19AM
Do downloadable games work regardless of the region of your console? What region is your PS3 and your PS1 disc?
Waldex @ Jan 7th 2008 2:52AM
GO SONY, ALL THE GODDAM WAY!!!!
Kinketsu @ Jan 7th 2008 9:32AM
Vincent, my PS3 is a Japanese machine and my PS1 version of Street Fighter Alpha 3 is from the U.K.
Vincent @ Jan 7th 2008 5:10PM
Thanks :) But have you ever tried any downloadable title from the US PSN on your PS3? Like Tekken 5: DR for example? Does it work fine?
Sorry, it's just I'm curious because I heard downloadable games are region locked but I haven't tried them myself :|

I don't like Street Fighter so this dosen't interest me. Great news for people who like Street Fighter though.
