Users plagued with mysterious PSP Store errors
A number of people are having trouble using the PSP Store. A thread on the PlayStation Forums shows the growing frustrations of those that have met error 80048516. They rightfully purchased content from the Store, and simply cannot transfer the data over to their systems. Some users complain they've purchased over $30 worth of content that they're no longer able to access.
Calls to PlayStation support lines have left the users frustrated at the seeming lack of a solution. Constant days of "research" on their part seems to suggest only one solution: returning the system for a new one. We haven't encountered issues with the Store on our end, but we also don't manage more than one license at a time per system. A word of warning: don't deactive your PSP systems unless you really mean it! And don't try having multiple licenses (from different territories, for example) on your system.
We wish the best of luck to those affected, and hope to have an update regarding their situation in the near future.

Those customers are lucky to even gotten that far. The store won't accept the same VISA card that every other merchant on the net accepts. And, yeah, nobody at Sony is particularly helpful with that either.
We PSP owners waited so long for a store, and this is what we end up with? Are the same people responsible for the Sony Connect debacle in charge of the new store?

that stinks but i got an error last night dont recall which one but i had never seen it before it happened when i was try to put a copy of spyro on my friends psp slim.
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Jan 9th 2008 7:15PM
Yeah I believe they're most of the same people.
Which Visa are you trying to use?
RadioScott @ Jan 9th 2008 7:59PM
It's a check card from my bank. Others have had the same problem. Some have had to enter their billing address EXACTLY the way it appears on their statements. That seems to work for some people. But, it didn't help me.
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Jan 9th 2008 10:30PM
Well I'm sorry but I can't help with check cards. I'm not sure if the PSN can accept them or not.

Not only Visa, but some Mastercards don't work... I have a regular Mastercard, and it will not work.
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Jan 9th 2008 7:07PM
Thank you so much you guys. This will hopefully spread word about the issue enough to call some more attention to it from Sony.
You're my heroes :D

Hey guys! I just saw a new post from "WHO LOVES PS? I DO" on the thread and he says that his replacement system DOES work with the Downloader.
Here's the link to page 5: http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=psp&thread.id=3229384&view=by_date_ascending&page=5

I use to have them, but I have only 1 gig card, so I have to erease the SOCOM tactical strike, now I have a bigger card and wont let me....
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Jan 9th 2008 7:17PM
I've had the problem for a little while now and it's nothing to do with the memory stick you use. It looks like it's the PSP's internal flash memory that's getting screwed up with the PSN Downloader.
pspboy84 @ Jan 9th 2008 7:55PM
I had problems either since getting my psp slim star wars bundle. It took a couple of tries to get it to work but once it was activated it downloaded the games to my memory stick with no problems. Sony should give back people's money if they are having problems with the online store.

Yeah, the store SUCKS in it's current iteration. I have Windows 2000 which isn't compatible with the download software for the store. Which means that even though I have a PC, a PSP, a Credit Card, A 2 GB Memory Stick, and money to spend, I still cannot download anything from their sh*tty store. I guess even Sony wants me to go give MS money to upgrade my operating system before I can give Sony my money.
Strike009 @ Jan 9th 2008 8:34PM
uhhh...just about everything supports windows xp nowadays. with the next next operating system out, dont you think its time to upgrade to xp? (vista blows btw)
Autobon @ Jan 9th 2008 8:45PM

Where are you going to change this speed? On the PC or in the PSP?
For the record, I attempted to reactivate and got the same error... Anyone else having this issue?

FINALLY! I'm so glad a site is actually talking about this. If you're looking at that other page in the PS forums, check out this one:
http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=psp&thread.id=3218813&view=by_date_ascending&page=1
It's got six pages (as of this post) talking about it. And, It always get error code '0x8004810b'. Check out this page before you say 'download the installer', please.
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Jan 11th 2008 1:59AM
Yeah so now there are two errors getting to the PS Store. Hopefully PSP Fanboy can generate some kind of public awareness for Sony about this problem. I've paid for Beats and I wanna play it!
Trekster_Gamer @ Jan 10th 2008 1:50AM
Sony is not customer friendly, they better get there act together or the PSP is liken to start doing as bad as the PS3!
fuzzyback @ Jan 15th 2008 4:40PM
i had the 80084516 download error happen to me when i made the mistake of using a pc running vista
Rye @ Jan 10th 2008 11:15AM
I purchased a game around Christmas and get that error EVERY TIME! Sony Support basically told me to download the PSP Media Download app (duh) and try again... Hopefully this problem will be corrected with the next Firmware update.
ahole_derby @ Jan 10th 2008 1:04PM
I got the error after I purchased "Beats" and download it to my Windows XP PC. I reinstalled the Downloader app, and rebooted a couple of times. Finally, I gave up. Luckily for me, I also own a PS3. After I got home, I looked in my PS3 store's download list, and found "Beats". I downloaded it to my PS3, then transferred it to my PSP without any other problems.
The current system really blows. Why in the world doesn't the store work by simply allowing direct downloads to the actual PSP?!
brad_snake412 @ Jan 10th 2008 3:02PM
the speed of your internet if its too slow it does that as well
