After the PSN
update that never was last week, you'd be justified in feeling like Sony owes you something special for this week's update. If you happen to like PS1 games or add-ons, then you're in luck. If not, maybe Sony will pay you back next week. Here's the full release list:
- N20 PS1 game (£3.49)
- Hardcore 4X4 PS1 game (£3.49)
- Motorstorm "Double Track Pack" add-on (£3.49)
- Folklore "Pigly Pack" add-on (free)
- Devil May Cry 4 "TGS 2007 Trailer 2" (free)
- PixelJunk Monsters trailer (free)
- Bionic Commando trailer (free)
- Devil May Cry 4 wallpapers (free)
It's
always nice to see PS1 games that we weren't expecting. This "Pigly Pack" for
Folklore is unlike the normal quest packs - there are no quests or costumes included, just a new folk to collect. As a result this piece of DLC is completely free of charge, which suits us fine. So, commenters, does this satisfy?

Nitrous Oxide was a cool game. I hope it comes to the U.S. store. Another cool one was Nanotek Warrior. I still own that one. I might have to bust it out this weekend.

Useless update.

n20 is an interesting game. I have it on ps1. My dad bought it for me long ago when a store was going out of business. It's a seizure waiting to happen. Try it, it's kind of fun!
Aurvant @ Jan 10th 2008 2:59PM
Well, the Euro PSN had better be happy because the trickling news coming down the line about the USA PSN update is another "You'll get nothing and like it edition."
As it stands right now the US store gets a few rock band songs. Oh boy, everyone who doesnt own RockBand just shouts out a "GEE EFFIN' THANKS" to the US store.
Sucks.

I'd wish you guys would stop equating the UK with Europe. What is available on the UK store isn't always available on other stores around Europe.
Monty Mole @ Jan 10th 2008 8:10PM
I'll tell you whats really bad about this weeks update!!
N2O doesn't seem to even work properly! my Dualshock3 just starts vibrating like a psycho and none of the buttons work no matter what port I select via the PS button!
I feel another $ony refund coming on !!
Vidikron (FU) @ Jan 11th 2008 1:53AM
Hmmm... some of you guys want games like Pain and Everyday Shooter, while I would like to have Populous The Beginning.
lee.cash @ Jan 11th 2008 5:22AM
Incorrectly tagged post (again).
Should be "UK PSN updates for January 10th".
Yes, I'm going to keep doing this until the authors of this site alter their copy. Either price the content in Euro* or call it what it is: the UK update. It's NOT the European update.
I'm glad to see at least someone else (hey Majik) is also tired of this.
*And just to preempt the expected posts of "They can't price ALL the currencies in Europe!" 320 million Europeans use the Euro verses 65 million who use the British pound. So, price one if you want but I'd be interested to see how you justify pricing a currency that is less prominent by a ratio of five to one. Or, you know what? Price both. Make everone happy.
Monty Mole @ Jan 11th 2008 5:44AM
Well said and well done lee.cash
Anti European stance is wonderful, I wish to subscribe to your newsletter :-)
Seriously, if prices are in £s then its the UK update.

@Monty Mole
Hi Monty, what makes you think I am anti-European? I'm actually very PRO European and have requested that the PSN content be displayed in euro on this site for some time now.
What I am saying here is: if you're not going to display euro pricing then don't state it's a "European" update. It's not. It's a UK update and, obviously, I can tell it's for the UK with the presence of the sterling sign but that's not my point.
I've been accused of pendatry before when I've asked that the euro price be also displayed next to its sterling equivalent (£/€ for example) as others have said that they would prefer the writers of this site to better allocate their time "[...] finding out more about new games etc."
I disagree and here's why: though the writers of this site are obviously gamers, they are also journalists and it's in their interest, as a journalist, to get their copy as accurate as possible. I really think that this is a stellar site and the guys are doing a fantastic job which is why I don't consider this trolling or ranting. As a journalist myself I prefer when people point out my when I get my facts wrong which can happen to any journalist.
I'm simply stating the obvious and this can be quickly remedied one of two ways.
1) Put the euro price next to the sterling price when listing content for PSN updates.
or
2) Correctly identify the posts as "UK" updates and not "European" updates.
I'd prefer #1 as it at least would signify what the content costs for *me* and not just my British neighbours but I'll accept the easier solution of just accurately calling the post what it actually is.
I honestly don't think this is much to ask.
Thanks
Monty Mole @ Jan 11th 2008 10:15AM
hehe.... no offence intended buddy, just the way your first post seemed to read to me, thats all:-)
Anyhow, I agree with you 100%, either UK Update with £ or Euro update with the euro sign, depending on which currency the prices are in does dictate if its a UK or European update, It's common sense that much anyhow :-)
DETH-DEFIANCE @ Jan 11th 2008 2:05PM
Rather nice update, though nothing particurly special. I'd love to see ps1 games like Command and Conquer and the Tomb Raiders.
freker @ Jan 11th 2008 2:41PM
This is a poor date for us Europeans (I'm in UK) I'm still patiently waiting so I can can slowly get the whole PSone Crash Bandicoot series to play on the PS3 and my PSP.
Also, why the lack of the fantastic 'Hogs of War'? Thats a true brit game, Rik Mayall and all.
I just find the PSone service is a bit underused, this could be so awesome if we could have games like Medievil 2, Rollcage 1+2 and the Spyro games, Crash Bash would also make a fantastic addition to the games I could play LEGALLY on the PS3 and PSP.
Most importantly, I WANT those other awesome PSN games them Americans have. Having Toy Home DOES NOT make up for the fact we don't have Everyday Shooter and Pain.
Apart from this, I can let this slide because updating (almost) every Thursday must lessen the variety available on the PSN and make Sony run out of material faster.
