Vague FFXIII information reveals use of split screen

The other person we've seen, but haven't been introduced to, is the guy with the blond hair who looks like a mix between Seifer and Cloud (seen in the last new trailer). He has unclear motives for us, the player. We're not told if he's on Lightning's side or not for a long time -- so perhaps he's a villain instead of an ally. Who knows?
An aspect of the game we haven't heard about previously is a type of "split-screen" that shows different characters in different places at the same time. Speculation is that the split-screen function is for cut-scenes, but we think it'll play a slightly more prevalent role. We have no idea what -- it's just our speculation. What think you, masses?

They're not talking about the girl in the above photo, they're talking about the guy on the motorcycle, which is pretty obvious he's male.

Perhaps to control multiple characters, to eliminate the 'ok all you enemies stand in a line, and we will too. and go!', of the old FF system, your one character can attack this whored over here with gambits and your other character can run around free to attack others. Then press R3 to switch screens/character control.
Just a thought per request

I thought it was mentioned once?
One magazine said it was used for telling a parallel story of another character happening at that instance of time :o

Reading this for the first time brought up Wild Arms in my mind. A tiny box showed where other characters in your party were... just once actually, so you could talk to them and get them to join forces. =P Lame, but just saying.

Didn't they do that in Final Fantasy IX, to a lesser extent? Without split screens?
Who am I kidding, no one cares about IX.

I can't wait for the FFVII remake either! Surely Square must have a secret plan! :D
Brendan Brown @ Jan 11th 2008 2:27PM
Their secret plan is to finish two entire other games (XIII, versusXIII) first before even thinking about a remake.
