Bioshock team looking for PS3 developers
2K Boston, the team behind the wildly success Bioshock, is looking for a number of PS3 programmers. "PS3 and production experience using Python or Ruby will be highly regarded" for the Tools Programmer position. "Experience with PS3 development is highly desirable." for the Senior Console Programmer position. "PlayStation3 experience highly desirable" for the Programmer position.
Something has us thinking that the 2K Boston team is making a PS3 game. Just call it a hunch. Of course, this is in stark contrast to previous rumors that they were avoiding PS3 altogether. Could the sequel to Bioshock be coming to PS3? Considering 2K's acquisition of the team, we say it's very likely.
[Thanks, Matthew P.]

Very intriguing story, I believe it completes overshadows the ps3 monitor story.
Organic_Shadow @ Jan 14th 2008 11:23PM
Previously it was a separate 2K team that needed PS3 programmers. Now it's actually 2K Boston? Hmm...

This is intriguing news

Hopefully its a new ip, I played through Bioshock on PC.
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Jan 15th 2008 1:23AM
Yeah I'm hoping for a new IP. Maybe after the new IP they could go back and do a BioShock sequel/prequel.
Efeez1986 @ Jan 16th 2008 2:00AM
I hope it's something new and not Bioshock. I played Bioshock, and it's very boring and overrated, with no replay value.
ryan @ Jan 15th 2008 1:49AM
Bioshock sucked! it was so boring halfway through killing and looting with no puzzles for your plasmids, only that stupid Hack mini-game! and that last boss *shudders*
...sorry, but i had high expectations for the game since the demo was awesome. glad to see that 2k is spreading their wings!
finelicker @ Jan 15th 2008 5:30AM
Hmmm, I don't think they'll do Bioshock, this will be a new multiplatform IP.
Similarly, I remember hearing months ago that crytek were looking for PS3 programmers, I think their advertisment for the position is still on their website.

Bioshock or not; this'll really wind up the 360 set.
choirovwolves @ Jan 15th 2008 8:07AM
This ought to be karma for all the mudslinging the PS3 had to endure hitherto. (Either that or the industry has a hard time with exclusivity.)
ryan @ Jan 15th 2008 11:38AM
it's not just exclusivity. it's companies finally getting good results with the PS3 kit. after 2 years of striking gold with the 360 (quicker system to learn and develop for) companies are now realizing there's more money out there to make. this is good for EVERYONE, not just fanboys.

Bioshock sequel/prequel on PS3 CONFIRMEED!
Yeah, I said it. What are you gonna do about it?
baby sea tuna @ Jan 15th 2008 9:31AM
I think they should try and port BioShock to PS3. At this point, it's not gonna sell a hell of a lot more copies on PC or 360, but I know not as many people played it as should have.
Popfrogs @ Jan 15th 2008 10:29AM
Yeah they don't have much to lose. If Lost Planet sells well, then companies will learn that PS3 owners are willing to buy year-old X360 titles. Let's hope it's not as bad as the freezing PC version.
Aaron @ Jan 15th 2008 11:16AM
Told you Bioshock was coming to the PS3.
ryan @ Jan 15th 2008 11:43AM
sorry for the triple post there choirovwolves.
Ranus Studios @ Jan 15th 2008 2:28PM
Yes! Very likely! Because god forbid they make a game that isn't Bioshock related, and for the PS3 at that!
I'm sorry, that was really mean. You get my point, though.
zeusx99 @ Jan 15th 2008 4:51PM
It's highly unlikely that the Bioshock sequel will be PS3 exclusive, if on the PS3 at all. Given that it's pretty much System Shock 2, ____ Shock will likely be on the Xbox 360 at the very least.
choirovwolves @ Jan 15th 2008 6:18PM
@ ryne: keep in mind that Sony has upgraded their dev kits so that they induce less headaches. PS3 may be hard to develop for, but the hardware in itself has lots of potential. The reason I'm so wary with ports (even triple AAA titles like Bioshock) is because they seldom harness a console's power to full capacity. Oh, and your redundant posts were condoned. :)
BlackBeltJones @ Jan 15th 2008 11:33PM
I doubt it, 2k boston has been very clear. Last time the PS3 bioshock rumor came up when people found the PS3 mentioned in the PC code Ken Levine came out and said "I promise you, there is no secret plan about the PS3 that we're keeping from people. There's no PS3 development going on that we're hiding. There's lots of stuff that gets into game code, plans change over time and we got an exclusive deal with Microsoft ... that's not a Rosetta Stone discovery."
Now MGS4, that's a different story.
