LittleBigPlanet will not intimidate users, says Sony

The game keeps it's 2D structure primarily to deter users from feeling intimidated. It's much easier to work with a 2D world, anyway. The intense physics engine helps keep things fresh and prevents the game from becoming just a 2D platformer. Keeping things approachable and keeping the single-player experience fun and satisfying are also keys to success. While some levels can be designed with teamwork in mind, if it's not fun alone, it probably won't work online. There's plenty more to read up on, so check out the whole interview. We're just excited to hear anything about this glorious sounding game.

Honestly this is the game that got me interested in the PS3. I used to play gmod with friends daily for almost a month and it was awesome until it started getting into a fight every day. This is like gmod but with scores more possibilities, not to mention design your own worlds (sort of). You could release a 4-5 part world where they all have the same theme. I better stop hypothesizing before this turns into more of a block.

The more I see, the more I'm want this game, the more ideas pop in my head for level design. 2-D retro levels from the old school days, mazes, game tribute levels, and just my own mental contraptions.

Hmm, this is a great step since it makes the game easier for casual gamers (like myself).
Although, if they have an option for more complex level developing, I wouldn't be one to utilize it, but it would surely be cool to play some of those levels designed by other gamers.

i dont know about the rest of the world, but I have been sold on this game for quite some time.

Yes, yes, I think I know when this game will be released...it is quite obvious actually...WHEN THE PS4 COMES OUT! But really, since SSMBB has gotten delays like hell...why wouldn't a particularly more complex game get MORE delays?

i was worried about the level creation being too difficult for the average consumer, and it very well may be to hard for them to grasp. but the ability to share and play other peoples levels will keep this fun for people who wont be able to grasp the creation engine. this game potential is through the roof and could offer something for everyone. from Super Mario tribute levels to boobs and penis levels, something for everyone!

This ,ff,and blu-ray are the reasons y ibought a ps3. Maybe for the next version they should team up with Clickteam. There multimedia fusion is an awesome gamebuilder and i think if you combine the two it will be unstopable.

From the interview:
"We’ve started that already with the beta trials and from the QA stress test point of view. We’re listening to the beta users in terms of what would help them be creative."
Wait, what? They've started beta?! I want in!

It all depends on the nature of the packed-in 2D levels, though. I wouldn't call most of the modern 2D console titles "accessible"
Something like a physics-based New Super Mario Bros, right in the box, could keep this game from getting trapped in demographic hell like Psychonauts, Viva Pinata, and Zack and Wiki

what are they talking about those things look creepy!

This is exactly what gaming needs right now, and the possibilities for LBP are endless. My only concern is will people truly want to learn this game's intricacies, or will they need constant novelty to provide an incentive to keep playing? I know, for myself, that this is going to be a keeper. Something to go back to even in the years ahead.
Tru-blu @ Jan 22nd 2008 9:14AM
Release this game already! Good grief.
