GT5 Prologue pre-order found at $40
Your first real taste of next-gen GT is coming in March. At least, according to amazon.com and GameStop. Both retailers have pre-orders for the upcoming disc version of Prologue -- and for $40. There are those that think this is much too expensive for a "demo," while others will note the extensive features set that puts most retail games to shame.

It's an ok deal. I'd rather just get the full version.
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Jan 24th 2008 12:46AM
btw, thats some sexy box art.
doc j @ Jan 24th 2008 12:54AM
I'm a sucker, so I'll be getting the demo.
Also, great cover.
Deviation @ Jan 24th 2008 1:18AM
I'll download the demo for Prologue just to get an idea of where the game's at and to see it in motion but I won't be buying Gran Turismo 5 until the full game is out.
Yes, Prologue has as much content as many full games (and I can see why it appeals to some peope) but I just can't bring myself to pay for an incomplete product. I'll wait for the full game.

Demo of prologue? Are you talking about GT-HD? Because the car handling/gameplay/physics/whatever-you-call-it in Prologue IMO is very different over GT-HD and perhaps much improved. It almost seems pretty bad for some of the BestBuys out there to be putting the GT-HD game in the PS3 kiosks since the cars in that game plays/handles differently than the cars in GT-P using the same track. Maybe it's not the handling but definitely feels different on the controller/wheel.

@ leiwei
No, I believe there's an actual "DEMO" for "Prologue" that they're releasing.
i.e. there's GT5, GT5: Prologue, GT5: Prologue Demo, and GT:HD
In any case, I'm also a sucker, so I'm gonna get Prologue.
And yeah, I mean this demo of a thing has like more content than most regularly priced games. And... I love Top Gear - so I must get this.
kris.barratt @ Jan 24th 2008 9:01AM
There was a demo of prologue on the japanese store, I have it on my ps3.
It has the whole of the suzuka circuit + 6 cars. You can actually race against opponents on a full track in it rather than just perform a few basic trials as in GT HD.
mccomber @ Jan 24th 2008 1:36AM
I think this will be hugely popular with the people who really love the GT series, but it's certainly not going to create waves. An interesting experiment, but unless it drops to $20 or so well before the full game I think I'll just wait.
Then again, this may sell really well to people who don't know what they are buying, and think this really IS the latest full release in the series...
kingofwale @ Jan 24th 2008 1:43AM
Same month as MGS4, It will be a great month for PS3
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Jan 24th 2008 2:04AM
March is going to be great for Sony. PSP and PS3 are gonna dominate in March.
Zozzi @ Jan 24th 2008 2:23AM
just check google and you'll find game for $39.99 in bestbuy, toysurs, circuit city .. probably every main store has a preorder for such a price ;-)
dp @ Jan 24th 2008 2:56AM

http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStation3/4-/3595201/Gran-Turismo-5-Prologue/Product.html
although this will be downloadable on PSN yes?
wonder if it will be user locked like warhwawk?
reakt @ Jan 24th 2008 4:22AM
At £17.99 at play.com for once, a game is cheaper in the UK!
ABadr @ Jan 24th 2008 6:37AM
1p Cheaper at Amazon.co.uk ;)

pschemi @ Jan 24th 2008 6:55AM
You can preorder the game for 45 Euros at Amazon in Germany .Well thats about 60$ lol
Mario @ Jan 24th 2008 1:32PM
Well I just checked Best Buy in Canada, and they list it at $69.99, which means pretty much the same in US$.
FAST @ Jan 24th 2008 7:08AM
Now here's a prime example of a game that shoud be downloadable from the PSN at a reduced price. You want more than the regular little demos and are willing to pay for it but not quite enough to spend the money on a disc.
slim_on @ Jan 24th 2008 8:25AM
Huh? Isn't this going to be free on the psn? I already have the japanese version of Gran Turismo 5 prologue which they also sell over there. Is it the same version? It seems complete but I just can't read everything.
Noshino @ Jan 24th 2008 9:43AM
No, they won't release that one for free, they have released a DEMO of GT5 Prologue for free (which probably is what you have), but the complete version of GT5 Prologue I REALLY doubt will be released for free
grognard66 @ Jan 24th 2008 9:06AM
$40 for a demo/beta is a rip-off. So much for PSN being free, this is just one of the many hidden costs of PSN...
Deviation @ Jan 24th 2008 9:16AM
Troll. There's going to be a demo for Prologue. Not to mention that the last two Gran Turismo games ALSO had Prologue releases. Go back to your cave.
emaxximus @ Jan 24th 2008 10:39AM
grognard66 you are the very definition of a troll. You have posted a total of 4 comments to date, every single one ripping on the PS3 or saying the 360 is superior, all posted on PS3fanboy. Mabey if the 360 was as great as you think it is you would go play some games instead of trolling PS3fanboy you friggen dork! Haha!
HAAS599 @ Jan 24th 2008 9:34AM
on the japanese psn you can download the full version. I'm sure it will be the same everywhere else and the price was a little cheaper for the download. I have the asain version and the language isnt to big a hurdle but I wish they had american car stats like horsepower and mph instead of nM or ps or whatever it is. if your a GT fan, then this is a definite buy.
Pixelantes Anonymous @ Jan 24th 2008 4:03PM
The version on the Japanese PSN is in Japanese language only. The version being discussed here is localized to English-speaking countries (and I assume Germany / France).
Dehshizknight @ Jan 24th 2008 6:32PM
The box-art on this game is superb! I wonder how they'll top this for the actual game's box-art.
