Tim Schafer muses on the wonders of Uncharted's 'half-tuck'
Avid readers of Joystiq and PS3 Fanboy know that we have a small crush on Tim Schafer. Why? You can find out for yourselves. After reading his latest blog entry on Uncharted, you may also become his fan."I just finished Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and I will tell you this: I liked it a lot. It had beautiful environments, fun platforming, and the awesome phrase, 'I'll kick you to sleep!' You should all go play it right now. It was all super next-gen, but the most next-gen thing about it to me was Drake's shirt. Check it out: Somehow it's tucked in, and yet not tucked in, at the very same time. Of all the technical marvels contained in Uncharted, this was the one that really mystified me."
This is easily one of the most entertaining rants we've seen, that affirms both Uncharted's undeniable quality and the mysticism of the half-tucked shirt. And, coming from the mouth of Schafer himself -- you can know that this is truth.

Half-Tuck: The new style for gamers.
Hashbrown_Hunter @ Jan 23rd 2008 7:03PM
I've been pimping that style for years! Everybody called me a loser...I cried to sleep many nights.
But now it's in, and I'm popular! yay!

Yeah I've been doing the ol' half tuck for a while now. Looks awesome if you have a cool belt or buckle. Also, bonus points if you have a gut and still do it (like me).

The partial tuck has been a fashion staple for a while now. Both the hip hop guys and the big belt buckle rock guys do it in various forms. Just shows Drake is stylish.

Most underrated game ever.
anyone with a ps3 needs to play this. it will blow you away. nothing needs to be added nothing needs to be taken away. game is a must play hands down.
bykerjock @ Jan 23rd 2008 7:06PM
I agree the game was damn good...but it didn't blow me away. It was great at moments, and I totally enjoyed it...all the way till nearly the end....where suddenly, it was just too damn scripted!
Must do this to advance, where you must hit this button at the precise time. That final fight nearly ruined the game for me.
I though...ok, maybe it's just me. But several friends said the same thing. Just felt out of place in an otherwise fantastic title.
Ratchet & Clank Future - now there's a game that blew me away.
Now, if only they could add a half-tuck to Ratchet..... hmmm.

Wayne Gretzky did this first about 30 years ago with his hockey jersey. . .
Kevin @ Jan 23rd 2008 5:29PM
Really makes you wonder.
HMMMM

I believe the official name for it is the "front tuck" or "frat tuck"
Dave @ Jan 23rd 2008 7:17PM
It's by far the best PS3 game that I've played and if they made an expansion pack I would buy it unreviewed on its release date. One of my neighbors "tried" it out over Christmas... for about 3.5 hours, lol.
I hope it becomes a regular franchise. The mechanics are there, the characters are likable, and the graphics are top notch.
tkbaby13 @ Jan 23rd 2008 8:32PM
lol i do the "half tuck" too and all my friends r like "why do u do that" and i always told them because its the style.

lol this is both hilarious and ridiculous.
ryan @ Jan 23rd 2008 6:52PM
i know where he's coming from as it's much easier to put together a Gears of War type character with 2 separate parts, but this is interweaving parts, makes for more intresting and realistic design.
on a side note: anyone find it curious when dealing with a locked gate in Uncharted: gate's locked, kick it. won't budge, shoot it, lock's broken, kick the gate open yet THE WHOLE GATE FALLS APART....that's some lock.
A @ Jan 23rd 2008 7:04PM
its all in the physics ...or something =P
but seriously, was that game not the ****?! good stuff. cant wait for the sequel.
Ruben @ Jan 23rd 2008 7:05PM
Ryan I guess it doesn't fall apart at first because the lock has kept the gates from turning and its so rusty that all it needs is that turn to break apart, but it can't turn, because the lock was keeping it together. Sorry for all the logic but yes thats real lol anyway.
xdamage @ Jan 23rd 2008 7:08PM
@#8 Ryan's side note.
Thats actually THE first thing a friend of mine noticed when he first saw me playing Uncharted. Hadn't thought of it myself, and yes, it makes no sense at all, hehe! :D
Ayways, I personally occasionally wear my t-shirt "half-tucked", so my studded leather belt shows better. ;)
Consolcwby @ Jan 23rd 2008 10:38PM
The only thing wrong with Uncharted was the lack of ANY three-headed monkeys. I mean, If Schafer is going to be playing it, might as well make it worth his while... =D
Matt @ Jan 23rd 2008 11:18PM
lol, nice SoMI reference. Hmm... off to play some Monkey Island now!
