Rock Band controllers priced and dated
While the foaming from the mouth may have subsided somewhat in the months since Rock Band's original release, we know that there's still a large number of you waiting for the instruments to finally become available individually. EA has today thrown you all a bone - but beware, it's a bit mouldy. The prices and dates for the guitar and drum controllers have finally been announced.
The drums will be available from the 12th of February for $79.99 and the guitar from April 1st for $59.99. This makes the bundle pack a damn good deal. It also means you've got another two months of waiting until PS3 owners can play four player. Pretty unimpressive, if you ask us.

I'm curious, does the guitar work for Guitar Hero, or is it a Rock Band exclusive? I've tried checking other good sites like psbeyond.com for the news, but have yet to get an answer.
Sorry if that's a noobish question, and nice post!

No it doesn't.
But it really doesn't matter to me though, Rock Band is so much better than Guitar Hero. The only reason I was tempted to buy GH3 was for a spare guitar. Of course, we all know how that went.

ditto

Thanks guys. I've yet to try Rock Band, but am very tempted to do so now. :)

Honestly, I have played both. My little brother bought GH3, which is an awesome game and very addictive, it was fun (actually still really fun and challenging).
I, after moving out, bought Rock Band... it was so much better. It's easier to play (not as challenging unfortunately) but when you get many people together, it's awesome. Especially after some drinks. What's even better, they constantly add new and better songs, supposedly there are supposed to be 200 by year end '08.

I suggest to ANYONE thinking about buying RockBand go read their official forums first. Thousands of people having to return faulty guitars and drums less then a month of playing. I had to return mine less then a week after I bought it.
The company used cheap parts for the equipment. Again just go read the # of complaints on their official forums. It's a joke.

Oh my... it's the activision troll...
Janir @ Jan 25th 2008 3:02PM
The faulty guitar issues been resolved and even them if you went online and ordered a replacement they turned then around asap. Some people had low turn around issues but most of then didn't use the onlien warranty or attempted to get their local best buy etc.. to do the replacement.

As long as the guitars work, I don't think it will be a big problem.
Dan Davis @ Jan 25th 2008 9:01AM
The real problem here is the fact that we have to wait until April 1st to get that second Strat! I just wanna play some bass while my g/f rocks out on lead! Hopefully MadCatz can release a "respectable" guitar before April...
heckteck @ Jan 25th 2008 9:36AM
likei just had a rockband part with three of my friends....we had a good time but we would have had a better time if my other friend was on my gh3 guitar for bass......on the other hand my guitar and drums have been working fine....the only thing is that the yellow pad is starting to bubble on my drum set
Tony @ Jan 25th 2008 9:44AM
more bs from harmonix...yet i still can't stop spending money on rb dlc. i hate myself.
Elsnerma @ Jan 25th 2008 1:14PM
I'll be waiting on the third party controller with the switch between GH3/Rockband. Though, I wish they'd just release the patch already...I get a lot less lag, even after calibrating, using the Rockband controller than I do with the GH3 controller.
Al @ Jan 25th 2008 1:26PM
Problems with instruments resolved? Please.

Over 159 PAGES of people complaining about instruments. Activision troll? Better then an Activision nuthugger.
Hihi05 @ Jan 25th 2008 3:22PM
Does anyone know what the deal is on this? Are they just taking a really LONG time to design the packaging for a guitar that has already been created, packaged and shipped in a bigger box? Is it really that hard to just make a smaller box so it can be sold individually? I have a Rock Band guitar in my living room. Why do I have to wait until April to buy another guitar JUST LIKE IT? If any other third party guitars make it to market before April, the Rock Band folks will have just wasted their time. I hate not being able to play with a fourth player. It's bullshit.
ArmorForVictor @ Jan 26th 2008 11:42PM
I'm really having a hard time loving my rock band guitar. I've had to fix it 3 times since i got it for christmas. I had to fix the strum bar, fix a wire that was sliced (not by me), and today the little spring on my whammy bar broke so i had to fix that too. i hope these new guitars don't have these problems.
Mike @ Feb 3rd 2008 11:54AM
Maybe you need to take more care of it rather than banging it. I've had Rockband since Christmas Eve and the guitar is in perfect condition. I think it's a typical American thing to complain about waiting.
tammie3121 @ Feb 26th 2008 1:20AM
well I have ps2 and ps3 and I bought rock band bundle pack for ps3 but because we could not use the guitar controller on the ps3 from gh I decided to buy the cam for ps2 the drums, mic, and guitar will also work on the ps2 and all of my gh guitars for my ps2 system also works very well on rockband we are still waiting till april to buy a guitar forthe ps3 love those grafics on ps3 for rockband the game itself is better.
