These Resistance 2 screenshots look predictably awesome

So, you may not have heard, but Resistance 2 was finally announced a couple of weeks ago. Judging by the response we received from you guys, we suspect you'd appreciate seeing any scrap of information on the game that we can find. Well, we wouldn't call these seven screenshots scraps. They show off the Chimera's new look, with their slim-fit suits, as well as a range of environments. Exciting stuff! Go have a look for yourselves, the gallery can be found below.

Definitely not Insomniac. Look at the first R&C shots that came out and everyone calling bull on those? And see how the game turned out for that one? These definitely can't be bull. Besides, GI played a running version of the game and said it was beautiful in the mag.

I have the new Game Informer that has the reveiling of Resistance 2 and it looks amazing. The game is gonna be huge! I couldnt get into the orginal Resistance but this 1 has my attention.

INCORRECT Borst- As we are all fully aware, INSOMNIAC GAMES are not in any need whatsoever of issuing "bullshots" FACT.
That is for developers like Bungie and their incredible 640p masterpiece.....

I read the Game Informer article and it said something to the effect that Hale would be leading a squad of soldiers just like him. So maybe the chimera coming off of the planes in screenshots are part of the humans whose mind resisted the chimeran influence. But then again that doesn't really work with the way the chimera are produced.

I was reading in the new issue of Game Informer that RESISTANCE 2 will have 60 player ONLINE!!! 60 FREAKING PLAYERS!!! But the sweet thing about that is other then just throwing a bunch of people together to just battle out *which I'm sure is an option* but they seperate the group into squads that has individual missions that take place while this huge battle is going on!! In other words meaning BAD ASS!!! Not to mention that the single player is said to be twice as big as the original with an independent CO-OP tOO that is going to be different everytime you play!!!!!!

Game of the Year in 08! I'm calling it out now!

from what we know about it so far, it certainly could be in the running but as of right now, Super Smash Bros. Brawl has that GOTY on lock and key. (at least in my mind anyway, hopefully their both great games though)

Reason for the human planes?

I'm thinking it's got to be modified their way... but why?... to blend in. You see, if they invaded an area with high human population with a human plane structure... no one would be as alarmed, until they came out & started killing.

Or another thought...

Maybe some of them choose to hijack the airport, killing off anyone trying to escape?... in another screenshot, you see a few planes flying above these two giant robots... and they look like they've been shot down, or Hijacked.

But anyway, that's just my two cents of imagination. Let's say I can't wait for this game, it sounds great so far. And looks it too.

I also noticed that the sign the Chimera are standing in front of says 'Home of the 37th Fighter ----------- Detention Camp' on it, with the dashes representing where a Chimera is covering the sign...perhaps the detention camp is a sort of political prison, a symptom of the government that controls the radio and TV under President Grace? America isn't supposed to have left the Great Depression, so we'll see what that means for what should be recognizable cities and landmarks.

Humans and Chimera are working against another unknown enemy.....I BET YOU! On the new GAME INFORMER it shows Hale to be giving out calls while with Chimera...maybe they are now working together?

I cant believe you people actually think the game will look like this on your tv. have you not learned anything. if these are in game shots then they were photo shopped or touched up. but i am telling you now it wont look that good. some people never learn, grow up and get a girlfriend its just a game you act like a bunch of kids and are naive. I dont care if it doesnt look like the pics i am going to get it ,but at least i have reasonable expectations.

When you see the monsters face at the end when it eats the guy, it looks just like a chimera screaming. but the rest of its body is kinda retarded.

ANYWAY, Resistance 2 is gonna blow any other games ass wide open.

Lets just hope they do proper marketing and get everyone to know what this game can do, and then I think this could sell at least 1 mil PS3's. Who knows, the game might even outsell Halo 3 if it's hyped up enough.

Why does everyone think the screen shots are fake?? What cuz they're nice looking? Um, aren't we in the "Next Generation" now or something? Can screen shots not look good yet? In 2078 A.D.D I bet people will still be calling screens shots BS because they look too good to be true. The only thing I thought about when looking at the screens is that the chimera's heads look weird... I think their heads are smaller and they have smaller teeth now, or something. But w.e. I can't wait.

but seriously, am i the only one that remembers the Chimera coming out of dropships all the time? somebody had to be flying that plane. im not surprised at all that they would come out of a human looking plane. i mean look at their new armor, and their facial features even look more evolved. and as for the other screenshot where Hale looks to be yelling orders at Chimera, dont forget about the Cloven that were talked about all the time in the intel on the first game but never appeared except for a multiplayer skin. the Cloven look just like humans and have the Chimeran virus and feed on dead soldiers. i actually think that Hale is a Cloven since we know he has the virus.

either way, im super excited for this game and it looks great. only bad thing is, its almost completely made me forget about Killzone 2.....

Surely like with anything the fact that people try and claim the screens are faked or doctored in some way is only a compliment to the work Insomniac did. Also it is likely that the people complaining are not PS3 owners or planning to become so...again this reaction is a testament to the fact that people think the game looks good.

I think 360 has some beautiful looking games Halo 3 surprisingly is not one of its best graphically and this looks better than that title. But the two are also very different titles with Halo being more multiplayer focussed, Halo has great gameplay that is its strength, why compare them. I am sure the console can, will and has shown itself to be a lot more capable than that.

wow I feel sorry for you guys who are halo haters any of you who have played the entire halo 3 story in legendaryon a good hdtv know that it is really a beautiful game especially with the draw distance, and in legendary the number of enemies on screen is just staggering and if you have grphic gripes go to bungie.net and compare good halo 3 screenshots with this game and you will see the style and the graphic quality are very simular.I am looking forward to this game its gonna be really good ,but the single player in halo 3 was the most epic and best I have played in any game and I doubt this game is gonna top that.

I in no way have a problem with Halo 3 in fact I was defending it. It is good graphically, but no mind blowing (there are better looking 360 games) and no doubt I believe it has certainly shown its influence to some extent on resistance.

I do believe that the meat of the Halo 3 experience is in its multiplayer. That is no disregard to the single player aspect but I think the engine was compromised slightly to adapt to a flexible multiplayer experience. Just a guess of course. I prefer the design in Halo to most FPS...brighter colours and almost toy like enemies as opposed to drab brown landscapes and generic soldiers. To compliment one is not to undermine the other.

I have played Halo3 on a 32" Sharp AQUOS LC32D64U display, which is admittedly the best 32" LCD display on the market right now, with full compatibility with all resolutions and great picture quality. That means that yes, I have played Halo3 in 1080p full HD with 5.1 surround sound and calibrated colours. And I was disappointed. :/ It doesn't look that great, at all. It is merely average, the only good thing about it being the light and shadow effects, leaves reflecting off your armour and etc. But that's it. Nothing else looks impressive. Simply nothing. And you can argue all you want about "playing on legendary" and stuff, this has nothing to do with visuals... I have a friend who has an X-Box 360, and we played games the likes of Gears, and after you've played that you cannot help but feel disappointed by Halo3's visuals. They are not as impressive as they should've been for this flagship title. And that's really too bad... I'm not a hater, in fact it would be hypocritical for me to be one since I have played very little of the Halo franchise altogether, but from the few hours of gameplay I've seen from Halo3 (And the game lasts a few hours, so I'd say I've seen a good part of it), I was not impressed at all. Judging the story and the multiplayer aspect is something I am not doing, because it has no relevance at all, it doesn't add to the level of detail in the screen shots of the game. I am responding to detract your off-topic arguments.
And while I agree that Resistance 2 may not stand out graphically, it is indeed a major step up from the first title, which is good news. Halo3 also stepped up, but the fact that it runs in 640p and therefore that you can see heavy aliasing over long distances in 1080p HD makes it a lesser step up.

I love how all you idiots are proclaiming this as game of the year when it isnt' even being released for another 8 months. I also love how people are proclaiming the graphics are setting a new standard when it's just static screen shots. To all those idiots that don't think these screenshots aren't photoshopped or "touched up" remember the Kill Zone 2 screenshots...oh yeah they admitted that they were "touched up." Now am I saying the game isn't going to look great? No. I'm sure the graphics will be excellent since they have a history of making great looking games. Do I think the screenshots make it look much better than Halo 3? A little bit for sure but definitely not what you guys are proclaiming. Am I a big Halo 3 fan? Yes, I admit it but I do prefer COD 4 over Halo3 right now. And lets remember there is a lot more to games than just pretty graphics...remember a great story, great soundtrack, great gameplay, great multiplayer and then hopefully all these elements come together in a great package. That is why Halo became the great franchise it did. Even if you hate Halo histiry has shown many people have enjoyed the game over 3 generations. Before I get flames, yes I am a 360Wii poster. I don't hate the PS3 but not one game has made me want to buy one. When FFXIII is released then I will buy one (maybe in white not sure)-not MGS4. I hate the fact there this generation forgot about epic RPS...I'm sick of FPS! Fuck the pretty graphics if it doesn't sell a botaload. Remember the business is all about making money. Last time I checked Halo 3 sold over 8 million copies and going. Can Resistance 2 or Kill Zone 2 match that? Not even close IMHO. Lastly, bring on FFXIII ASAP!

I love how so many Wii360 posters are so insecure they just have to come over and post here. I'm not a 360 hater - in fact, I spend most of my gaming time playing CoD4 on my Halo 3 Edition 360. Halo 3 was a good experience but it was in no way graphically impressive after having played Gears of War. Even CoD4 looks better. And we are, by the way, talking about graphics here right? Not storyline, not soundtrack, not some other bs.

I suppose you have to ask... why would the Chimera want to attack an airport out in the middle of nowhere? Perhaps that cargo plane has some cargo that the baddies were hauling out when they were rudely interupted.

Or, maybe they just look cool running out of the plane? *8)
