My god! The resolution on that sucks. You can hardly make anything out. But I do hope that this online portion is good. I had so much fun with the Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops online.

The video does seem to be made of ass and fail, but the subject the video covers seems to be some new, highly-concentrated form of Win never before viewed online. The improved shooting controls for MGS4 really look like they're going to enable really intense firefights to go along with the rest of the action.
I wasn't so sold on MGO before, but it's way up near the top of my list now.

I saw this several weeks ago. Unviewable.
But yeah...I hope MGS Online not only remedies some of the shortcomings of online pack that we saw in MGS: Subsistence (awkward controls, too much to handle and still be responsive for most players), but also addresses shortcomings of multiplayer FPS shooters in general. From the earlier trailers, it seems like it'll be alot easier to figure coordinate movements with other team members as well as help other fallen comrades.
Also, I hope it's free in terms of online access (as it was with the original).

MGS4's control scheme had to be 'dumbed down' and made more accessible for westerners. I personally have no qualms with controls in any MGS games; in fact, once I became familiar with all of its intricacies, I wouldn't have it any other way! Perhaps I am in the minority here, but the series is by no means 'unplayable.' (People who say so are merely nitpicking and grasping for straws.)

I don't understand it, myself. If one can't be bothered to learn the nuances of a deep combative system, why does one get so vocal about it? It's willful display of complete ignorance, if not arrogance.
The third one was the most intricate, but still gave the players freedom to dumb it down as much as they wanted. The fourth looks to do the same; is there actual fault in that? How do you dress yourself in the morning?

prawnboy @ Jan 29th 2008 1:55PM
Whatever was going on looked exciting!
True_Darknight @ Jan 28th 2008 4:33PM
Huh? where are you leaving a comment??
This is PS3Fanboy... in case you didn't realize.. PSN is hmmm free...
So why even ask a silly question?
Nate @ Jan 28th 2008 5:07PM
Why would they ever release this? What is that, like 640x480? Geez.
Carlton @ Jan 28th 2008 6:44PM
Are you kidding? It's closer to 64 x 48.
Popfrogs @ Jan 28th 2008 6:55PM
Man, I was shocked it didn't say Buffering.... at the beginning. This video looks like warmed-over baby poop. How could someone fail so badly at making a video?
Autobon @ Jan 28th 2008 7:33PM
The thing i cant stand about Metal Gear Solid is how the characters run! It looks so unnatural.
choirovwolves @ Jan 28th 2008 9:00PM
Well, at least the experience isn't spoilied now! The fidelity (or lack thereof) is really bad; the textures looked 8-bit (albeit with 3D rendering)...
kanin @ Jan 29th 2008 2:04AM
com'on guys, they're not going to release the game like that, it's still in beta
TheEnd187 @ Jan 29th 2008 3:53AM
hmm will they still have bottomless inventory? i hope not, cuz what if you are switching over to a pack of smokes and while flipping through the menu an enemy comes behind you and you get choked?
Ghaleon @ Jan 29th 2008 10:36AM
I didn't think MGS3 Online controlled any worse than other console shooters of any genre. That game was fuuuunnn.
This is one of the only upcoming online games I would actually play.
lee @ Jan 29th 2008 12:45PM
will MGS online come with MGS4 or sold separately?????
Maci @ Jan 29th 2008 1:17PM
According to most, MGS:Online will be bundled as a "starter pack" with MGS4.
