Call of Duty 4 to get downloadable maps

What do you do when you make a Game of the Year-winning title? You make more of it. Call of Duty 4 is getting DLC later this Spring, adding brand new maps for the popular online shooter.

According to the press release, "We've demonstrated our commitment to delivering the best multiplayer experience in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and that continues with our plans for new downloadable content," explains Infinity Ward's Community Manager, Robert Bowling. "We're excited about the new maps, and the added gameplay variety, and we can't wait to wrap things up and get online with everyone."

Considering CoD4 is the best selling game of last year, we're pretty sure the fine folks at Activision are going to have to build another pool of money to swim in once the DLC gets released.

They [infinity ward] can't even provide/deliver the connectivity patch for europe sucessfully so im not holding out much hope for this going smoothly over here. Although would love some new mappage!

Are you sure this the same COD4 game that I have??? I haven't been able to connect to the servers in a month! Way to go Infinity Ward!! I applaud your "COMMITMENT"!

I can get on every time too, from solo online to 6-person party play.
Regardless of what you think about their online code, you have to admit that the game itself is solid.
I'm not worried.

same problem here, would be nice to get online to play the current levels, but its an awesome game hopefully that will get sorted out before then.

It does suck! :S I was able to connect withing seconds after the update. But after a few weeks it went from taking forever to find game, to just not connect at all. The game itself is AWESOME, when is working. I'll give a try tonight to see if it works.

I hope they make some smaller maps so I can play 1 on 1 with my friends online without getting bored

That would be cool if they threw in some new features too. So I can search for PSN names. Or see what games my friends are playing with the option of jumping in.

This is great; I'm getting a bit bored of the current maps now.

On a different note, no-one seems to have mentioned the next proper PS3 firmware update for months. Surely it should be here in the near future.

I miss the monthly updates. I'm really craving some news on the next one.

the next one will have in-game XMB....... its been said about all the rest of them so eventually we will be right..

In Game XMB is pretty much already in, but it's up to the developers to implement it. The only two things that are really needed in games is the ability to play custom soundtracks and the ability to see your friends menu. Both of those are possible. Custom soundtracks have been in a few games so we know it's possible. And in Burnout Paradise, you can pop up your friends XMB menu (So you can see what friends are on, what they are playing, check messages, etc...).

1. More levels like Crash.
2. Night levels.
3. Split screen online?

They need to work on the lobby alot more also. Is it so hard to make it like UT3's, or Resistance, or anything else that lets the GAMER choose where to go?

Also how difficult would it be to allow people creating their own 'servers' to setup a map rotation? If I join domination and end up on the boat one more time...
