Lost Planet demo available on Japanese PS Store [Update]

For some reason, Lost Planet had a thriving online community when it launched on Xbox 360. Capcom is looking to recreate that success for the PS3. The Japanese PS Store has been updated with a brand new online-enabled demo of the game. Of course, you'll need a Japanese PSN account to access it, but we're certain that Capcom USA will release a similar demo in the future.

Update: Impressions, after the cut. Demo is available on US Store as well.

Wow.

So that's why Lost Planet has such a great online community! The English language demo was a bit daunting at first, thanks to a crowded controller map that had us scratching our heads. However, it wasn't long until we were jumping into mechs, rappelling up buildings, and causing explosive mayhem like the rest of the online community.

Jumping into an online game was incredibly easy. Already, there are so many servers that are filling up quite rapidly. Players from all over the world are partaking in the adventure, and many of them are much, much better than us.

We do wish the demo had some intelligent matchmaking, but that's a small gripe for what is essentially a small sample of the upcoming PS3 game. It might not be as beloved as other upcoming PS3 games, but we had a blast with this title last night. Our interest in the upcoming US release has piqued quite a bit.
