Well, my excitement for this game went up quite a bit after watching the video.
Dreadhead541 @ Feb 8th 2008 8:35PM
i'm not sure how i feel about Zack's voice. It sounds kinda annoying, but at the same time he supposed to be that way and i have a feeling that it'll grow on me
soul899er @ Feb 8th 2008 9:19PM
shut up im tired of ppl complaining about the dubs, be grateful the game even came here, you're so ungrateful >_>
GELNIKA @ Feb 8th 2008 9:31PM
I Know how you feel.
Makes me glad i got the japanase version, but could always be worse. Ever hear the voices in Drakengard or AC, KH...
Yeah it could be worse. Even though the translation aren't gonna be perfect either.
in the japanese version Zack says " yoroshiku" to lazard, which is more nice to meet you, but here he says heya...
yeah...
oh well, at least there making it in english.
zoen151 @ Feb 8th 2008 10:14PM
The voice acting makes me want to cry, it's so stale... The Japanese version was so intense with the voice acting.
Anyways, what's up with the craptacular voice acting?
Brian @ Feb 8th 2008 10:22PM
I'm just glad there's going to be an English dubbed version, this game has too much story to fully enjoy in Japanese. hope they leave in the jap. dub!
bryansurvive @ Feb 8th 2008 10:38PM
i just want english subtitles its better to hear the original voices. just like the movie it was bad enlish voices.
Marco Cano Jr @ Feb 8th 2008 11:05PM
*sigh* We're ether fighting about which console is better or that Japanese is way better the English dub. I guess thats what make to world go round.
Anyways, Honestly I was way more worried about the lip sync but everything else is fine. I have to say that the Aries in Kingdom Hearts 2 sucked hard (Unlike Mandy Moore in the 1st Kingdom Hearts).
merc25 @ Feb 9th 2008 12:39AM
all the people lending their voices to this game, have lent them to these characters before(which kind of shocked me on angeal and genesis actually being in something before this).
http://imdb.com/title/tt0483593/fullcredits#cast
Steve Burton ... Cloud Strife (voice)
Rachael Leigh Cook ... Tifa Lockhart (voice)
Robin Atkin Downes ... Genesis (voice)
Rick Gomez ... Zack (voice)
Stefan Marks ... Lazard
George Newbern ... Sephiroth (voice)
Colleen O'Shaughnessey ... Voices
Mena Suvari ... Aerith Gainsborough (voice)
Ryun Yu ... Tseng (voice)
Blue @ Feb 9th 2008 11:56AM
Dammit. It's the same American Aeris VA as the one in Kingdom Hearts and Advent Children. My heart aches at the thought of hearing the emotionless-brainless interpretation Mena Suvari brings to the table.
upz @ Feb 9th 2008 7:19PM
Mmmm...Mena Suvari...so hot. And that Rachael Leigh Cook...even better. So I guess it is true what they say about former A list actors turning into voice actors.
daxFan @ Feb 9th 2008 12:40AM
I've gotta say thats one of the few dub jobs that has ever really impressed me. Altough... pretty much every single other dub that has, has also been a square title.
Brello @ Feb 9th 2008 1:48AM
It seems like I'm the only one that prefers the english dubbing. Reading subtitles while missing the action on screen is not a good thing in my eyes.
B1gC72 - PSN: KillaKornbread @ Feb 9th 2008 11:12AM
thank you. i know that the english dubs are bad but i would rather be watching the action than reading text. if i want to read, ill pick up a book. just give me something thats lets me understand the gist of what is going on and i am good.
Noshino @ Feb 9th 2008 12:23PM
I would agree with you 2, but just one example....Dragon Ball....THE DUBS ARE HORRENDOUS...
I'm dead serious, NONE of the voices match the characters, hell, I have heard it in Jap, Italian, Spanish, and English....I still think the English one, is BY FAR the worst....
The same can go for other games/animes that keep a faster pace like say Naruto, One Piece, Chrono Trigger, and Neon Genesis Evangelion....
NukeAssault @ Feb 9th 2008 1:51AM
Meh, ill have to deal.
CyborgSPIKE @ Feb 9th 2008 1:57AM
i luvved the japan version, they were so enthusiastic bout there acting. in this i thort at first that it was made by fans (cooda been the poor quality) but i guess it was just wierd not hearing it in jap. will buy the english game and will luv the dub!
Zann @ Feb 9th 2008 4:53AM
Man I can't wait for this to be released. I haven't opened my jap version yet.. lol..
Alien @ Feb 9th 2008 6:10AM
I actually think the voiceacting is a quality one :) Lets be honest , the game deserves it :)
shaffy @ Feb 9th 2008 9:54AM
I've no problem wih Zacks voice it did sound annoying at first but hes suppose to be 16 there, hopefully the voice will mature once hes 24 plus nothing can beat how bad Mena Suvari is as Aerith >_> I really wish they would get Mandy Moore...
Either way I've no problem with it being in English in fact I'd rather have it in English not that I'd miss any action while reading subs had it been in Japanese (seeing as 9 out of ten times when I watch something its subbed) but I never find the Japanese voice to suit the characters in these...
midgarpheyne @ Mar 1st 2008 2:03AM
Zack is 18 in the beginning of Crisis Core. And he doesn't live to see age 24. Zack Fair dies when he is 23.
cafecito @ Feb 9th 2008 1:51PM
There's nothing better than the original, but hey, It's getting pretty decent voice acting judging by the video... and that's enough for me. I just wanna play this game soon!
rockernanimefreak @ Feb 9th 2008 3:55PM
The Voices are O.K.! now go fanboys! in search of a high quality trailer! :)
Shelly @ Feb 9th 2008 9:22PM
"Angeel?" Angeeeeeel? *sob*Where's the A? I just hope Genesis no longer sounds like a crazy vampire, because that would be sad. They should have just gotten Gackt to do both voices, since he speaks English fairly well. Or at least can voice the words properly.
Oh well. I didn't expect the English to stand up to the Japanese - it was wonderful. :) I guess now I'll be able to understand more of all those emails and such. :/
Really, though, it would be wonderful if they included the Japanese acting too, but I'm sure that's too much to hope for. :( I don't know why people have a problem with subtitles; can't you see everything at the same time? Seriously, how long does it take you to read? O_o
Oh well. I guess I like "Zack" better than "Zax," so I shouldn't complain. >_
Daniel @ Feb 12th 2008 8:44PM
I love the "Japanese VAs are better" knee-jerk reaction that some people have. Then they go on and say "they just put so much emotion into it". So, tell me why on the international or final mix or whatever special editions of most Squeenix games for Japan....they give them the option of using the ENGLISH voice track? Why will the Japanese version of AC:Complete Blu-Ray have an optional ENGLISH voice track? Maybe they have the same "grass is greener" thought pattern as some of you guys do.
Personally, I enjoy the English voice-overs because *gasp* I don't speak Japanese, and no matter how much "emotion" they put into it, it doesn't make a damn bit of sense to me.
And for the DBZ comparison guy, Goku was voiced by a chick in Japan...how's that for "not matching the character"?
LeMi @ Mar 9th 2008 7:56AM
Voice actor for English naruto dub: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maile_Flanagan
It is very common to have female voice actors for young male character voices.
Even dough i don't speak Japanese i still prefer watching every anime and playing every game i can on japanese (someone always makes a undub of the game). I will buy this game when it comes out but i'll probably make a undub (i'll download jap version and replace audio files)
Great alternative would be inclusion of the Japanese audio tracks.
Daid @ Feb 25th 2008 6:00AM
when in march does the English version comes exactly?
Jason @ Mar 4th 2008 9:22AM
man its a game not a movie, get over the voice acting. its not even that bad, n if ne one of you think you could over dub this n make it sound better go ahead and show us if not shut the Fu$* up easy as that. its an awsome game and now even better its in english
Aaron @ Mar 22nd 2008 2:13PM
i'd give the voice acting a 7/10. It could have more emotion and not be so monotonous.
Seriously, the dude was like, "you. will. leave. at. once." like a robot.
But I am sick of my jap version so i shouldn't be complaining
