PS3 version of DMC4 accounts for 39% of UK sales

At first glance 39% doesn't seem like a lot, but when you consider the numerous reasons UK gamers had to choose the Xbox 360 version over the PS3 version then the number starts looking less and less disappointing. Not only was the PS3 version a full £10 more expensive, but it also "suffered" from a 20 minute installation procedure before people could start playing. This is ignoring the PS3's lagging install base of more than a million. So, that 39% isn't looking too shabby now, is it?

There are two and a half times more 360's than PS3's in the UK, yet they've only sold half as many more 360 copies of DMC4. To have sold more copies per console the split would have to be better than 72/28% in the 360's favour.
Get it? More PS3 owners bought it than did 360 owners. What, did you expect PS3 owners to buy two copies each? Jesus Christ.........

To answer your question... DMC4 sales are 82.95% PS3 and 17.05% 360. To break down the consoles, the PS3 is at 1.9m(76.67%) and the 360 is at 575k(23.23%) in Japan.

Why is everyone acting surprised? I thought the UK was the only country in EU where the 360 sold more. It seems they are putting more importance in countries where the 360 has a stronger lead. What about worldwide sales? Do those not count anymore?

Let's just make this clear once and for all. These figure show that - on a console for console basis - the PS3 version kicked 360 ass in the UK. Do the simple math people.

as for the console-to-console basis you speak of, I mentioned the numbers soley on sales - if this so happens to be because the 360 has 3 times the number of ps3's then so be it, if anything that just proves my point that i still expected more in europe. (keep in mind not all of us know the figures of console sales)

Any way you cut it 39% still sucks and on top of that people are willing to pay more for the 360 version.If the PS3 had an online service as strong as Xbox live was before the late 07 holiday fiasco and had achievement points then it probably would blow away the 360 especially because the 360 is unreliable and has no Blu-ray.

Not only is the PS3 game the more expensive one, as has already been pointed out there are 2.5 times more 360's than PS3's in the UK! Have 2.5 times more copies of DMC4 been sold on the 360? No - nowhere near! Console for console the PS3 version is winning hands down!

The blogosphere is controlled mostly by American gamers who have from the start and continue to take a very negative attitude to the PS3. UK online readers are spoonfed the same bias in English as their US cousins, thats my theory.
What some misinformed writer publishes trickles down from the hardcore to the everyman eventually and has great influential power.
Mainland Europeans are immune from this and so relay on their previous perceptions of the PS brand and make their own minds up in most cases.

Thank you, that's so true. People here in America are so easily influenced by the media it's ridiculous. The American gaming media has obviously been bias against the PS3, and people here are so simple minded that they actually listen to them. I've heard from many, many people that the PS3 is considered the best console in Europe.

I got my collectors DMC4 copy from HMV, and got a free Hat, £10 off voucher and (God knows why when i got the PS3 version) an xbox360 DMC4 faceplate. I thought that was worth the extra £10 i paid (I paid a total of £45)
I think the game is amazing, and the 20 min install time didn't bother me. I liked the back story it explained, had a flick through of the art book that came bundled with it and i read the PS3fanboy DMC4 review while i waited. This didn't half get me excited for playing it lol.
If this game was still a playstation exclusive, it would have been absolutly brilliant, because it would have been a game that no other 360 game comes close to replicating.
But i surpose if DMC4 sold 61% 360 games, then i guess they'll keep on making it multiplatform for the ca$h.

Personally I am really starting to feel like an all day sucker for buying the PS3 last month. Rabbid Fanboys are grapping at straws, 360 owned 61% which is what Capcom cares about not 39%. I'll watch movies on the the PS3 and play my games on the 360, thanks.

Dude its just the UK where they have 2.5 X more 360's. Also if you really look at the numbers for every 5 copies of DMC sold in the UK3 are for 360 and 2 for PS3. Also, If the 360 had the capability of doing a mandatory HDD install 5'm sure they would have. but, because of the Arcade/Core SKU this will never happen.

I wonder if all these detractors actually looked at the fact that in japan ALONE DMC 4 sold more copies at launch than both consoles did in europe at launch.
(about 40k more overall at launch, 160k or so in europe for combined sales and 204k in japan on PS3 alone).
Either way the series is doing great so far.

The Devil May Cry 4 tv ads in the UK had only the Xbox 360 logos at the end which probably helped. In the summer when the PS3 overtakes the 360 in systems sold, the software numbers should start evening up. They're already pretty even across the whole of Europe looking at Burnout Paradise's numbers.
It'll be interesting to see how much closer the DMC4 Euro sales are.
Gotta love the 360 fanboys in here pretending to be disgruntled PS3 owners. You just carry on 360'ing your console back and forth with Microsoft repairs. :)

Considering the 360/PS3 ratio in the UK(~2 mill/850k or ~2.35/1), DMC4 didn't do too bad in that respect. M$ can have fun with their numbers, what do I care. We all know who will eventually be the victor... especially with all those hardware issues.

For the US comparisons... 360 owns 73.65% of the console market, compared to PS3s 26.35%. DMC sales were at 61.18% 360 and 38.82% PS3.
So again, PS3 DMC4 sales are again slightly higher for its installed base.
Note: Rough console numbers and game sales are coming from vgchartz.com. The Wii's numbers are not taken into consideration in console share. And by no means should this all be assumed to be 100% correct, as mistakes happen.
