OPM Rumour mill: GTA I/II, Street Fighter Alpha, Splinter Cell Conviction coming to PS3

The latest issue of the British mag, Official PlayStation Magazine, contains a few tasty rumours about upcoming games that might see release on the PS3. First, it states that Grand Theft Auto I and II will be heading to the PSN Store in order to quench peoples' thirsts for GTA before the fourth chapter is released. That means we can expect to see them before April. Hopefully.

Another game set to appear on the PSN Store is Street Fighter Alpha. To be honest, we're wondering why when Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is due out at some point this year. This is probably Capcom's way of telling us that it won't be out for a while yet. Finally, Splinter Cell Conviction is reckoned to be heading to the PS3 at some point, according to UK high street retailer GAME. Sounds good to us, we're always happy to welcome more games onto our favourite system. So how do these rumours make you feel, commenters?

Did you like Double Agent? That's a game that I've always been undecided on, since I wasn't a huge fan of the previous two games in the series. I'd be interested to hear what you thought of it.

i only played splinter cell on ps2, but god bored with it pretty quick. conviction looks more like my type of stealth gaming though.

Right on, that was my experience as well on PC (boredom). I would agree, though, that Conviction does look a LOT more interesting.

jajaja then I am 2/3 PSFanboy because I never owned a PSOne, the PS2 was the machine that reduced a lot my PC gaming habits

I'll probably grab GTA2, if the graphics aren't pixelated (it's been years since I played it, can't really remember), and Splinter Cell - I thought they said that it wouldn't be on the PS3, because yadda yadda Xbox 360 handled the AI better blah blah.. Am I thinking of a different game?

GTA 1 & 2 would be cool. Ubi have already stated that convinction is 360 exclusive after Game had it on their site

If I am not mistaken a few months back on the ESRB there was a listing for Street Fighter Alpha.

So may be this will come out.

As for GTA I would not doubt it. Why not make some more money before the next GTA game comes out.

As for Conviction I keep hearing about this rumor and I wonder if it is true. But I think that it would come out six months after the 360 version though.

LOL @ 'AI' in Splinter Cell.

Splinter Cell has been consistently downhill since the very first game. The teams in Montreal and Shanghai can't seem to make any genuine innovations. Oh look, now if I press a button when in a special spot, Sam pulls off a style kill that I have absolutely no control over! Entertaining the first time, boring afterwards.

For their latest game they appear to be making drastic changes at the expense of losing what makes Splinter Cell what it is. Some levels may be more traditional Splinter Cell rather than tramp throwing a hissy but fans are still going to be pissed they can't play good old Splinter Cell with a slew of new moves, objects and so on which Kojima Productions always seem to manage just fine.

The introduction of multiplayer was pretty sweet but if you didn't start playing with everyone else, it was impossible to learn the ropes with everyone else so experienced. From there on it's just been more of the same again.

I hope they produce something fresh, true to the original game but three times now I've been gradually more disappointed.

I agree with you for the most part, however, Double Agent's story really sucked me in... for some odd reason.

Sure, it wasn't the best SC, but it was nice to see the Montreal team give the PS2 version some love for a change after a few shoddy ports (Thanks Ubisoft Shanghai!).

Anyway, call me crazy but I just might pick up a 360 just for SC:C.

Happy to hear that the GTA's will be coming to the PSN, I'll grab those. I doubt I'll get Alpha. And either way im getting Conviction for 360 so I could care less if it comes to PS3 or not.

UBISOFT will deny that a PS3 version is in development until the 360 exclusivity agreement is up.

I would love Conviction would come to PS3, as i have been with Splinter cell since it was released on PS2. I have got all of them; PS2 games, PSP game and the PS3 version of double agent (Not as good as PS2 version imo). So hearing that it was 360 exclusive really pissed me off. But i'll get for the PC

As for GTA 1 & 2, i would definatly purchase that from the PSN and give it a good play

Street Fighter doesn't appeal to me...Tekken FTW!

For anyone who didn't already know, GTA 1 and 2 were released free by Rockstar years ago, and can be downloaded for PC from their site. Although if you want to pay for them so you can play on a big tv, that'd make sense too.
