Just when you thought you knew everything you could about Media Molecule's upcoming world-creator game
LittleBigPlanet, we find something else that blows our minds and makes us anticipate the title even more. In the latest
Edge magazine, it's been revealed that in addition to the emotions and such your sackboy (and sackgirl) can perform, there are plans to lip-synch voice chat. That is to say, the characters will move their mouths in roughly the same way you do (even if not, it's still cool). Down the line, expect stuff like voice filters, too. We think that's a pretty stellar move.
[Thanks, Kane!]

Cool, hopefully it'll be a bit better than in R6 Vegas.
kentuckyfried @ Feb 19th 2008 6:01PM
I hope R62 has women models that look like women, as opposed to men. =D
grognard66 @ Feb 19th 2008 1:44PM
Ha, that's pretty cool. I wonder if the little characters will be big enough to really see that though. Maybe there's some type of zoom feature. I hope they don't do the voice filters though. The original x-box Live had that and, trust me, the service is better served now that voice filtering is gone!

Dude, in 1080p, it'll be very easy to see their mouths moving.
Ishimaru @ Feb 19th 2008 1:55PM
Everything about this game equals win. I want it now :(
chris.westermann @ Feb 19th 2008 2:10PM
Cool, but, how about they save something for LBP-2, and lets release this gem already. Honestly, I could live without my little guy lip-syncing to my chat.
TinyTim121 @ Feb 19th 2008 2:16PM
This game just gets better and better! I cannot wait for this game!!!
Kozalicious @ Feb 19th 2008 2:23PM
Unfortunately, this may bring about a whole new era for the Furries. May God have mercy on us all.
Jay @ Feb 19th 2008 2:43PM
Could LBP be a Wii-killing app?
Hmmmm....
Mikezula @ Feb 19th 2008 2:47PM
That is all sorts of quirky-coolness.
Konchu @ Feb 19th 2008 2:57PM
This could be strange hearing some voices synced. Cool but weird.
DMeisterJ @ Feb 19th 2008 3:12PM
Also, this game will breathe and sleep for you, and even go to work! No, but that is cool though.

I've said it before: When this game is released - I'll buy a PS3.
emir989 @ Feb 19th 2008 3:15PM
man this game needs to come out this year or Im going to cry
Chris Rah Osiris @ Feb 19th 2008 3:17PM
This game just gets better and better
HektikLyfe @ Feb 19th 2008 3:30PM
This is the reason it is taking so long to release? The features and functions are there. The users will be the ones to create the content and the some of the image textures.
Lip-Syncing? This could've been a patch.
The PS3 needs all the help it can and holding this general-public-happy title presumably to coincide with the HOME release is only hurting the console's potential success.
Now is the time Sony. People are picking up Blu-Ray players. Throw that in already. I say Sony and not Media Molecule because I firmly believe it is Sony sitting on it and not the developer.
Jay @ Feb 19th 2008 3:53PM
I'd rather it be late and right than early and wrong.
jimmyink @ Feb 20th 2008 6:04AM
maybe they announced it too early? seems like they needed something to get people pumped about the PS3 back in the dark year of 07.
pellucidity @ Feb 19th 2008 4:14PM
I love all the stuff they keep showing, but it's becoming a long wait.
A-Troll-Named-Slickback (Yes the A Troll Named part, and yes every time!) @ Feb 19th 2008 5:03PM
Resistance Fall of Man did the mouth moving/voice chat am I the only one that noticed it!
Darkdrium777 @ Feb 19th 2008 8:28PM
No I had noticed it as well. It's cool, but I don't think it's actual synching, more like the mouth opening in closing. This however looks like it will be true synchro.
David @ Feb 19th 2008 5:30PM
Don't you guys remember that this was announced last year? This is old news. They are great news but they are old...I'll check and see if I can find the article where I read that. I find it really useful in this game since you can see the characters up-close and emotion plays a big role in the game. Resistance also has this feature but I don't find that useful since that isn't the kind of game where you can stand and watch the other's players lips move.
Herobotic @ Feb 19th 2008 5:41PM
I desperately want to make machinima for this game, so this is so perfect for me.
Dahk @ Feb 20th 2008 9:48AM
loL! I didn't even think of that. That's soooo wicked!
Now I gotta do it too ahaha.
