GDC08: Hands-on with the Logitech Driving Force GT

The wheel feels incredibly sturdy, and offers a surprising amount of resistance when making turns, crashing into walls, and more. The force offered by the wheel rivals those found in arcade cabinets. The wheel makes Gran Turismo 5 feel like a completely different game. Playing in cockpit mode with the controller is incredibly immersive. With wheel in hand, this does feel like the "real driving simulator" that GT promises to be.
While the wheel is impressive, we were a bit underwhelmed by the pedals, which lack the heft that makes the wheel so impressive. The pedals need a bit more resistance to feel a bit more realistic, and need to be heavier, so they don't move forward so much. Regardless, we're impressed by this incredible effort of bringing home an arcade experience. Considering the asking price ($150), Logitech needed to make a high quality peripheral. We think they succeeded.

Hmmm...
If i the pedals are made a bit better, and if i can find someway i can use the steering wheel without a table, then yeah, this would be on my "to-buy" list
But after spending money on the GTA IV special edition, i may wait till GT5 for this

Where they better than the G25?

There's nothing better than the G25 ;)
But in all seriousness, the lack of H shifter and difference of $100+ in price point leads me to believe the G25 is still the king of the pack.

I never use the wheels for home. Too expensive for a casual racey. I wanted to know though: How much resistance do these types of controllers have? Can they be set to give feed back and stiffness like Initial D?

Doesn't this look like the Driving force Pro GT for ps2?? Does it feel and react the same? Curious.

Ya, this just looks like a reduced version of the G25. ( like the G25's pedals would not have moved due to the grips at the bottom ) I think the all around version might be worth the extra money.

I have a Logitec Driving Force Pro for PS2 with rumble that works fine that I've been enjoying with NFS, Dirt, and GT HD Concept for months.

Damn! I just bought the Logitech "Driving Force Pro" for my PS3. I haven't opened it yet. I'm now wondering if I should return it and wait for the "Driving Force GT".
Really, they look very similar, except the buttons on the center of the steering wheel are now a different layout...

I'll be buying me a G25 as soon as GT5 comes out in EU... It's a bit more expensive, but it seems to be made of better materials, has nice leather finish on the steering wheel, pedals seem way better quality, has 3 pedals, has H-pattern shifting box and the shifting box is movable...
Digg up an old car seat and make yourself a nice playseat :)

I have the Logitech Driving Force Pro (the GT4 wheel...)
It isn't very different!
Please can someone tell me the differences between the driving force pro and the driving force gt?
The pedals are the same (and they're not the best out now...)
The wheel body is the same, but in front of you you have some new ugly (but maybe useful) buttons...
I would like to know if steering this wheel (and feeling its force feedback) is really different from the driving force pro.
