Ever wanted to know what the best selling PSN games are? Well, here it is. The top 10 PSN purchases since the system's launch.
- flOw
- Mortal Kombat II
- Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection
- PAIN
- Warhawk
- High Velocity Bowling
- Super Stardust HD
- Calling All Cars
- Aquatopia
- Everyday Shooter
Are you surprised that
flOw is the best selling PSN title so far? We are as well. Even more surprising: how well
Mortal Kombat II seemingly did. At the very least, we're glad to see great games like
Super Stardust HD and
Everyday Shooter make the list as well.
The top downloaded demos also include:
- Gran Turismo HD Concept
- Uncharted
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma
- Heavenly Sword
- The Simpsons Game
- Need for Speed ProStreet
- Ratchet and Clank
- Burnout Paradise
- Motorstorm
- Turok
We're not surprised by the popularity of
Gran Turismo HD Concept. As the first taste of the new generation of
GT games, it earned quite a bit of attention when it was released more than a year ago.
Finally, the top PSN downloads from Europe include:
- Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection
- Warhawk
- flOw
- LocoRoco Cocoreccho!
- Mortal Kombat II
- Super Rub a Dub
- Calling All Cars
- Gripshift
- Lemmings
- Super Stardust HD
Isn't it interesting to note the huge disparity between American and European tastes? (Besides
Mortal Kombat II ... for some strange reason.)

How did SSDHD do THAT BAD? It's one of the most addicting games I have ever played. Also CaC. That game is pretty habit forming.
Daniel @ Feb 20th 2008 11:49PM
very interesting!
parkd @ Feb 20th 2008 11:52PM
Why did people buy Super Rub A Dub?
Shinogu @ Feb 21st 2008 12:03AM
The subliminal lure of ducks and Sony products as of the last few years.
Haiddasalami @ Feb 21st 2008 12:09AM
Cause it reminds them of childhood and I found it fun.
aiko.adonia @ Feb 21st 2008 4:12AM
it's also a fun way to show off the sixaxis controller
benny boy @ Feb 21st 2008 6:07AM
People didn't know it was such a load of crap before they bought it.
Mo @ Feb 21st 2008 10:24AM
Cuz... there... was... nothing... else.....
amish.gramish @ Feb 20th 2008 11:58PM
Congrats flOw!!!!
And Organic_Shadow, I too am extremely surprised at how "poorly" (we don't know how all the others did or how many "copies" it sold) SSDHD did, especially because it had more of a mass appeal...
Well, I'm just glad that flOw is still on top!
jitty @ Feb 20th 2008 11:59PM
Nice to see warhawk doing really well. (I own and love it) But it sucks that super star dust HD and everyday shooter did not do as well :(
Barndo111 @ Feb 21st 2008 12:06AM
Why couldn't Sony include numbers with those lists? Would've been nice to know (at least approximately) how many people bought those games.
They also didn't number them. Does that mean that fl0w wasn't necessarily the best selling game since the PSN launch?
brettjr @ Feb 21st 2008 12:13AM
NO WAY, how did PAIN get up there and so high. Not only has it not been out for long but I heard of many disliking it and others not even trying it.
Kurt Zenisek @ Feb 21st 2008 12:13AM
How the hell did High Velocity Bowling beat out SSDHD, Calling All Cars, and Everyday Shooter? I'd much rather have all the other ones over HVB considering they're all $9.99.
Mateopato @ Feb 21st 2008 12:27AM
Where's PixelJunk Monsters? That game's great
Dahk @ Feb 21st 2008 10:12AM
Lol that was my initial thought. But then it really only JUST came out.
SSHD, CaC and Everday Shooter definitely need to be higher up on the list though.
Jove @ Feb 21st 2008 1:04AM
im not one bit surprised that fl0w is the no1 game on that list. i like it and i think its awesome, original, incredibly simple, addictive and really good. its a nice game indeed.
John @ Feb 21st 2008 2:03AM
Flow and everyday shooter are the two games I keep thinking of purchasing a pre-loaded credit card to buy (along with all that Rock Band DLC!)
kankanman @ Feb 21st 2008 1:56AM
of course. i still play tekken a whole lot. even with all the server issues.......
dartmerc @ Feb 21st 2008 1:55AM
flOw = low priced, been out for ages and shows off motion control. Back in the day when everyone wanted to show up their wii owning friends that the PS3 could do the same thing, this was the game to get.
joey_numbers @ Feb 21st 2008 2:36AM
ha. i got 6 of those games.
ymmv @ Feb 21st 2008 2:26AM
SSHD should have topped all lists. It's by far the best PSN game at the moment.
bAssackwards @ Feb 21st 2008 2:34AM
I can't believe Super Stardust HD isn't higher up on the list. Besides my current obsession of Pixel Junk Monsters, that is one of the best downloadables on there!
Robert @ Feb 21st 2008 3:03AM
I bet it has to do with release date if you look closely flow was first warkawk and so on.. where as stardust and everyday shooter came much later.. i as many am really shocked on Pain though but out of all the psn games it had the most advertising.....other then warkawk and it got pretty good ratings from the critics... i presonaly oen it but rarely play it....
AllUCan @ Feb 21st 2008 3:25AM
Tekken DR ranked well considering it's one of the costlier titles. If only Namco would port Soul Calibur 3 Arcade Edition to PSN before SC4 drops. Seeing how they purportedly rolled the offline version of DR out in a matter of weeks, they shouldn't let the only non-glitchy entry since the first Soul Calibur fade off into obscurity.
Tranando @ Feb 21st 2008 3:41AM
Super Stardust HD deserves to be right at the top of that list...
I know several PSN owners that had not played it, I sent them to get it, and are now addicted...
Brodie-san @ Feb 21st 2008 5:33AM
It's not so much to do with taste in Europe but what is available. Give us Everyday Shooter and Pain and things might be different.
Starfire @ Feb 21st 2008 6:26AM
Just goes to show that ultimately, the people have TASTE. Flow is one of the best next-gen programs, certainly the most original experience available on the PS3. My only regret is that Sony has yet to follow up on this promise and has instead released a predictable flood of racers, shooters and the like that differ from their ancestors only in having better graphics.
Iain @ Feb 21st 2008 8:20AM
Also one of the first games.
davivman @ Feb 21st 2008 8:32AM
This is a very interesting list. It shows that the tastes of the vocal minority (people that follow and comment on gaming websites and blogs) do not necessarily match up with those of the silent majority (More casual PS3 owners). I personally am not surprised that MK2 was the second best selling PSN game. It's a game with a lot of nostalgia and the price is cheap! Embarrassing side note: I actually bought a Sega 32X back in the day to play what I thought would be a good version of that game.
