So you think
Devil May Cry 4 is so hot,
selling 2 million copies? Well, prepare to be blown away since
Motorstorm recently
crossed the 3 million units sold mark. What, you're not blown away? Neither are we. We won't lie -- it's a good game and 3 million are a lot of games. But you have to keep in mind this game's been out for a while and has been bundled in with the PS3 in nearly every region. So take it how you want it, but we're going to give a big thumbs up and congratulate Evolution Studios for making it that far.

DMC4 sold 2 million across PC, PS3, and 360? Motorstorm did it on just PS3, did it take a while sure, but you can't compare the two.
I love Motorstorm and I'm glad it is doing well.
mike @ Feb 22nd 2008 12:00AM
DMC4 was also not given aware free with consoles for the last 12 months in the US and Europe either..
kitt2112 @ Feb 21st 2008 7:10PM
i loved motorstorm also. congrats!!

Capcom says they SHIPPED 2 million copies but I'm not even sure they've sold 1 million yet. After releasing in all regions, I'm not sure it had broken the 700,000 mark yet.
ps3fan @ Feb 21st 2008 7:44PM
Now how about some offline multiplayer support!!!!!!!!
ajiezer @ Feb 21st 2008 7:18PM
Well the game is cool but to be honest my interest didn't last long, but it's good to know that a game for the PS3 is doing well, I hope the next iteration has more cool features, maps and a better online experience
Kane @ Feb 21st 2008 7:22PM
Good game but got boring way too fast and the online experience wasn't good. Also the single player needs more options and modes, maybe a career mode or something. Still selling 3 millions isn't an easy feat, congrats Evolution Studios.
Kspraydad @ Feb 21st 2008 7:28PM
They passed 3.31 million in December and are now at approx 3.42 if you add approx US 80GB Jan bundled sales.
Matt @ Feb 21st 2008 7:28PM
Come on, you're counting copies in the 80G bundle? Give me a break.
dartmerc @ Feb 21st 2008 7:45PM
They're counting copies sold arsehole. It's the same reason wii sports is the highest selling wii game.
sean @ Feb 21st 2008 7:31PM
this games single player did get boring fast. i think i did like 4 tickets then went online from there.
and matt go back to 360 fanboy
mberkowitz @ Feb 21st 2008 7:37PM
I played this game exactly one time when I first got my PS3. Its just not that exciting especially after playing burnout paradise
ltefoe @ Feb 21st 2008 7:43PM
Congrats Evolution Studios on selling 3 million copies.
Da @ Feb 21st 2008 7:46PM
How about this has some online multiplayer support =P
StevenRafael @ Feb 21st 2008 8:05PM
Multiplayer is better offline IMO. Until the day video-chats are not only clear and distinct, but also comfortable and unawkward , live interaction will always the interaction of choice, when available.
And yes, I know unawkward is not a word.
jitty @ Feb 21st 2008 8:58PM
Evolution better use all the money they're getting to make Motorstorm 2 way better than motorstorm 1 in every single way!!!
b33eazy @ Feb 21st 2008 9:08PM
Wow how is this a big deal? The game is bundled at some point it would sell that many copies.A FREE game selling well, what a shocker.Microsoft sold 4.5 million copies of Gears Of War(in it's first year) still haven't seen such a game on ps3 yet.
Dehshizknight @ Feb 21st 2008 9:30PM
This can easily be compared to Resistance because Resistance sold extremely well for a launch title.
Organic_Shadow @ Feb 21st 2008 11:48PM
Considering the PS3 has only 10 million or so units sold to the consumer I would say Motorstorm is mission accomplished.
wocyob @ Feb 22nd 2008 12:06AM
people should be buying this game...its really is the best driving game i have ever played.... the crashes look awesome the tracks are tough.. and the bigrigs AI loves to push you into a corner "other words smart AI"... just a great game IMO...loading could be faster but hey its worth it once the race starts
David Taylor @ Feb 22nd 2008 9:12AM
I can't believe all of the negative comments about Motorstorm. It is one of the more fun driving games I've played--and I LOVE driving games. In fact, it was one reason I ended up going with the 80GB bundle--it was a game I would've purchased anyway. Anyone that played it once and quit it must either (1) not like racing games, or (2) thought it was too hard. And the online experience is what keeps it interesting. It has a GREAT online component that works wonderfully. Other games come and go, but I've continued to play Motorstorm. That may change once Gran Turismo comes out, but for now it gets the most playtime on my system.
Chris Rah Osiris @ Feb 22nd 2008 10:08AM
Never played it, but I'm glad that it sold 3 Million copies
Player1 @ Feb 22nd 2008 11:28AM
When I played Motorstorm online it showed 4 lobbies, one for each US reigon. Each one appeared to have a max of 250 players. So it appears that only 1000 people in the US can play online at a time (not that it was even close to full). Can anyone confirm that?
Skittle621 @ Sep 15th 2009 11:39AM
sweet, i really enjoy motorstorm, and im happy to see this game sell so good
cant wait for motorstorm 2!!!
