Still a suckfest for Blu-ray movies. Just recently American Gangster and Beowulf were released on HD-DVD. And which is the winning format? I was kind of hoping that with all the studios adopting Blu-ray meant that the quality of releases would improve. Or maybe its just that so few good movies are being made in Hollywood these days.
Also, I grow tired of old movies being released on Blu-ray. If I didn't buy them the first time around on DVD, especially when they went as low as $5, what makes Hollywood think I would want to buy them now for $35. And if your not going to make it a decent HD transfer, don't bother making it. Stargate Blu-ray looks worse then the DVD version upscaled.
I am hoping that Hollywood figures out this new HD craze thing thats been going on and realize that people are looking for better quality and better movies on HD, not just the same sh*t that didn't sell in SD.

Well the movies are better quality. If the master is in poor condition there isn't much that can be done to make it look like "true HD".
What movies are you waiting for on blu? Like another person said, it takes a couple months to re-do a movie. All the big movies (LOTR, Star Wars, etc.) weren't going to come out until the format war was clearly over. March will see many more big releases, especially from Will Smith (I, Robot, I am Legend and Independence Day). Every week can't be a winner.

Complain much??? I have 150 Blus and out of those, only 5 I regret buying because of poor PQ, Stargate isn't one of them... Try getting a better TV or somethin.. sheesh and I highly doubt that you would be hard pressed to find a good title out of 424 blu rays. American Gangster and Beowulf will make on Blu sooner rather than later.. watch

So what is going to be the first "formally exclusive to HD-DVD" to hit Blu-Ray now that HD-DVD is dead?

Been waiting for the Led Zeppelin: The Song Remains the Same for quite a while, I'll definitely be picking it up tomorrow

I think you have to remember here that releases don't just get chucked out in a week they are tae months to get released. So you will have to wait for the releases to start getting bigger and better.

When can we expect an American release of Almost Famous? I know there is a UK release and a Japanese release, which would work just fine on my US PS3, but I understand they're pretty thin as far as features are concerned and audio may not be up to par...
I'm also curious as to when there could be a Fight Club release...
I'd just really like to have my two favorite movies on Blu-Ray

my big thing at the moment is that while my blu-ray movies do look better and sound so, i am waiting for the movie industry to catch up and start filming in HD cameras. Difference in the new james bond and the last die hard comparing to most of the other movies is drastic! also "sunshine" was done in HD cameras so it looks friggin amazing in HD, plus its a Danny Boyle movie so u get a twofer here!

"start filming in HD cameras"
Film usually gets a digitial transfer in 4K resolution. That's a teeny bit higher than "HD" by your definition.

Can anybody provide any valuable insight on the difference between an animated cartoon on standard dvd & hd? Well, my question exactly is that I had the 2-disc set of JL: New Frontier for $19.99 in one hand, and the Blu-ray version on the other hand for $29.99.
For live-action movies, I know the difference and can see the difference between standard and high def.
But with cartoon animations, is it worth it to fork over the extra cash for the hd version?
I ended up just picking up the standard dvd version of JL since it came with a Green Lantern figure for about $10-12 cheaper. And playing it on the PS3 looked pretty nice anyway. Just with cartoons, I'm not sure how big or how much of a difference is there to watch it in hd. Thoughts?
