Killzone 2 dev responds to Eight Days' hype train

He said, more or less, "if you want to go be excited about Eight Days then be my guest." He goes on to ask "is there only allowed to be one good game at once? When it is news that a game looks better than Killzone 2, I'd say that suggests that Killzone 2 looks pretty [darn] good." He also goes on to talk about the infamous 2005 E3 trailer, claiming it was not false, rather, an idea of what they thought they'd be able to do on the PS3. Leave it to the media to screw that up, he implies. There's a lot more to the response and it's interesting to read, so go ahead and knock yourself out. If games are already being compared to Killzone 2, we'd have to say there's a reason for it.

all i know is those 2 games better be/look good to justify the money you spend on them and the 400,500,600 dollars the console costs. so whatever.

Point is, there is ALREADY enough to warrant a purchase, and more on the way. Oh good lord MGS4!!
So why did you feel the need to A: Bring up "early games" and the launch price? Because $400 is NOT A LOT FOR HARDWARE!!! Especially when people are spending more for things like an iPhone and then whining about Ps3's price. Talk about moronic.

Actually the games released last year on the PS3 are among my favorites of all time. Not a fan of stuff like Killzone, Halo, etc. though. So I could understand someone else not liking ANY games of this generation, I guess...
Also, the guy that started this is named CowboyJunkie, and I've seen him trolling many threads everywhere especially when it's PS3 related.

Why did the dev feel he had to comment? He should be working with the team that needs to finish and release Killzone 2. It's way overdue and I'm through listening to hype. It's time these devs stop talking/bragging and bring it. Let the gamers be the judge.

I didn't see any bragging there, he was simply upset that his baby, the game he's been working so hard on, is being criticized for no apparent reason.

I see your point bluesky, but the longer KZ 2 remains under development the more criticism it's going to attract. IMO, he can't and won't be able to stop the criticism about "his baby" if it never leaves the womb.

Considering that the footage that was demo'ed at E3 last year was touted as "early alpha", they can take all the time they want to finish this game. It's not like anyone from their group has said "coming on this data", the only hype has been from people that are excited to see it coming.

Okay you got me there, I didn't see that it was in the ask the dev's section, but my point is that KZ 2 needs to get out of the shipyard or get scrapped. If it's not released in 08, they might as well mothball it.

The developers of Killzone 2 know that they are kicking ass. They know that their understanding of ps3 hardware is on the highest level-- that confidence is backed up by the last in-game shots we all saw, where the environment was so far the best ever seen in a videogame-- these people are some serious programmers. So when some tard says that they're better, without the same backing, KZ2 devs say "bring it," we welcome you. If you can do better than us, more power to you. No, I think the Killzone2 dev unit is pretty much balls out the best thing around, and when it comes out, people like me who appreciate subtle details will rejoice. They're confident. They know what they're doing. No blogging wannabe is gonna change that.

he needs to stop with the petty arguments and get the damn game out. in all honesty, Killzone 2 is loosing hype to me anyway. i kinda stopped paying attention after Resistance 2 was announced. Killzone 2 had it's first trailer shown in 2005, it's 2008 now and still now sign of it. now even if the first trailer wasnt running in-game (spoiler: it wasnt) we can still assume that the game was at least IN DEVELOPMENT when the trailer dropped. i mean the game still probably wont make it out before the holidays this year and could possibly get pushed back to 2009. here is my suggestion, stop arguing and trying to defend it cause nothing says "shut up" like a finished product.

yea and GTAIV has an actual release date now (the second actually) and Killzone 2 is coming out when? i know how long games take to develop, that wasnt my point. my point was, they should stop trying to defend it with little arguments and actually get it out. if the game is better, it will speak for itself. plus, arent they both PS3 exclusives anyway? that are coming out at different time? i dont know why they both can be good...i hope they're both good.

As long as MGS4 is great, I'm happy with the $600 I spent on the ps3. And even if it disappoints like MGS2, it has been a worthwhile experience with Resistance, Uncharted, and especially COD4 (even if that's not an exclusive).

I do hope that Killzone 2 succeeds wildly. Looks like vaporware right now though.
What the ps3 needs right now are some outstanding highlights that will silence the vocal critics.

Speaking for myself I have lost all interest in killzone 2. That may pick back up closer to release(whenever that is) I absolutely can't wait for Eight Days.

I've only owned my PS3 for a couple of months and I've been disapointed so far. I Beta tested the original Killzone for the PS2 and really, really thought that the game was bad. To buy Killzone 2 the developers are going to have to have a quality product right away and none of this we'll patch the game to fix the issues. Oh well, here's hoping.

Im really not happy with my PS3. Ive had it sice launch an probably only got good use out of it for a month n a half. Rite now it looks like things are going to turn around, but the only games im looking forward to are R2 and Haze (if it turns out to be good) other then those 2games the rest of my time is goin to be spent on my 360 and 1 or 2 Wii games.

well they do say "This is waiting". ive had my PS3 since August and i mostly use it for media stuff right now. Ratchet & Clank was good but i can only beat it so many times, and Resistance is still fun online. other than that, ive traded in the rest of my games (i have Warhawk too but i cant play it on my bad connection for some reason). there is alot of good stuff on the horizon but you are right, games wise, i have been pretty disappointed with the lack of a steady flow of good games (i hear Uncharted and Devil May Cry 4 are pretty good but i just never picked them up).
