Metal Gear Solid 4 confirmed for June 12th worldwide

Konami has issued a press release today which confirms the rumored report of Metal Gear Solid 4's June 12th release date. The latest issue of Japanese magazine Dengeki PlayStation also reports that June 12th will be the Japanese release date for the game. Hideo Kojima made a statement last year at Leipzig during which he said that he firmly intended on making Metal Gear Solid 4 a simultaneous worldwide release and that it is regrettable that Europe has to so often wait longer to receive games. Let's hope his plan comes to fruition and we can all, throughout the world, enjoy the game when June 12th rolls around.

The press release also confirms that Metal Gear Online will come bundled with MGS4 in the form of a "Starter Pack", but it's still unclear how this "Starter Pack" will differ from the full release. Those that pre-order the game will receive a bonus DVD entitled "Metal Gear Saga 2.0" which will contain a prologue recapping the entire series so far and a 20th Anniversary retrospective. Other features on the DVD include character profiles for all the main characters and trailers for the game. It's unclear whether any of this will be included with the European version, but we'll try and find out soon.

no, this is the cover to the special features disc.

the other cover you do not like is the main one that will come with all versions.

i like it. it looks very much like the first MGS. which to me is "badass" coming full circle.

Considering most of the special content isn't native 1080p, it would be pointless. Your PS3 probably does a better job of upscaling DVD's than stretched content BRD's.

I'll probably just rent it though, or weekswap it with a friend. I like more action orientated games instead of patient stealth gems like MGS.

Anyway, just cuz he's not too interested in this game, doesn't mean that he's suddenly an evil man lmao. Simmer down.

Unfortunately, Andy is still wierd, because THIS GAME IS FRICKIN' INSANELY AWESOME!! Haha, skip school day for me baby =D! Anyway, go for the rental if anything, but I'm PRETTY sure you'd be pleasantly surprised at the amount of action packed into these games.

The last 3/4 hours of MGS3 was like NON-STOP action packed. I looooooooooved it. Adrenaline rushing like MAD. Great game, except for the random half-boring forest scenes.

Your acting as if his sale matters as if a dollar goes into your pocket.Remember one thing.Regardless how how many xbox's are sold or how many ps3s are sold.The consoles aren't going anywhere anytime soon.Everyone is gonna get great games and everyone is going to to have great experiences.The reason i bought a 360 is because i dont like games like mgs series or rpg's for that matter.Im more interested myself in action games fps style games.I would take halo3 or gears over mgs4 anyday.But thats just me some people are different.Im more of an online shooter kinda guy.

If you would suggest buying a game that someones not interested in and tell them they have to because for some odd reason you feel its gonna make you sleep better at night you need professional help.

I am a fan of all systems each has there strengths and weaknesses.But for right now and for me the xbox 360 for me is the console to own for my own personal reasons.

Just don't act stupid like that becuase likei said a mgs sale isnt gonna make a dollar in your pocket and at the end of the day the 360offers great experiences and will continue to as well as the ps3 so just enjoy your console period.

Is all that really necessary? You say it's not a big deal if you don't MGS, but you freak when somebody insults you by saying you aren't a fanboy? Seems like a disappointment, to waste time arguing and insulting people you don't even know or care about, much less their opinions.

On the topic at hand. The artwork will definitely turn heads. It's a good piece of work.

Then I would suggest you not comment in this article...If you bought a 360 fine go to the 360 fanboy place since you have one...

You see I am going to have Home, in game Cross media bar, and some nice little games for it...I am being patient for that. You do not want to be...fine...Your opinion on Live being better than the PS setup is still just a opinion, I am happy with what I have and it suits accordingly to the games I have. Then again sadly most Americans are not patient and are into the "High Action" FPS games with new and EXICTING things in the package...They are all happen to be the same by the way, Shoot things.....

So I am going to say this again...If the 360 is there for your personal reasons...Any reason you give why the 360 at certain areas it is better than the PS3 "because anyone can see it" is still a opinion. Just admit your fanboy like the rest of everyone else.

Then again arguing over Video Game consoles makes a much of a difference as arguing over the internet. We have enough time to type long drawn out points...Right?

MGS was the first ps1 game I played, and well I love the MGS series. I didn't play much of number 2, but I played 3, and I seen the "old" trailer of MGS4 at 2005 I think=P It made we want the game so bad, and now it's just a few months away! Sorta freaky0_o Anyways...If you don't like the game then don't flame on how bad it is. All your doings is hurting views of people like me who want to get this game, very badly...
I have a 360, wii, and ps3. I view get all the systems, get all the good triple A games;P

I need to know something, what do you mean pre-order, there are many ways to pre-order, I want to know I I can go to ebgames.com or gamestop.com and click on MGS4 and pre-order and this offer will count? or any online site that sells that game? or do I have to go into the store itself. I need a real answer here not a guess because this is the second time you guys say pre-order but dont explain it clrearly (maybe its just me)?Anyone?

Finally a reason to pick up a PS3. I was waiting for a SKU with the DS3 packed in. Now with MGS4 to boot looks like sony just got a sale from me. Also i can still play my PES PS2 version on it, just until Konami gives the series the love they show Kojima productions.
