God of War III coming 'soon'

While we've known that God of War III has been in development since Cory Barlog let it slip in early November, we haven't heard anything about it since then. Now, IGN have spotted a teaser advert for the game on the back cover of God of War: Chains of Olympus' retail manual. Not only does it confirm the game's existance for a second time, but it says that it will be "Coming Soon". Considering that we weren't expecting to see God of War III before 2009, we're surprised that Sony are claiming that the game is coming "soon." Does this mean that we could be getting two Kratos adventures this year? No doubt we'll learn more later in the year at either Sony's Gamer's Day (whenever that lies this year) or at E3.

Why not release the biggest franchises on the year that your trying to trump out your competitor?? can you see it now?....
Gog of War 3 - Bundle, includes the 120GB PS3 and Dualshock 3 and all for a measily $400. Merry X-mas Sony fans!!!!!!! (M$ people... you can alway come join the good machine building side!!!)

It said coming soon for the PSP on the back of the GOW 2 manuals yet we are finally going to get it in a few days, almost a year after it was hinted at. So I doubt we will be seeing this game available on the PS3 this year.

No it didn't Tanya. I just looked at my day one copy of GoW2 and it says coming 2007 for that ad. I forgive them because that was their goal back in Feb/Mar of last year, when they likely thought they could get it out then.

you're absolutely right! I don't want to see this game out any sooner than at least 3057, i want this game to be the absolute BEST that it could ever be. No bug will be too small to fix, no texture too high rez. I want this game to be absolutely PERFECT in every conceivable aspect, and i for one do not care how long it takes!!!

i dont want it out this year. yeah i wanna play it but i dont want it a year and a half after the last one. it needs to be perfect. and the longer it takes the better so i am willing to wiat til next year. i was thinkin christmas 09.

I agree, I'd rather have it be the best it can be instead of having it as soon as possible. Even if waiting until christmas 09 seems impossible!!!

Slow down folks... where in that photo does it say 'GOD OF WAR'? All it shows is the famous 'Ohm' symbol used commonly associated with the 'God Of War' series, but no actual mention of the game is present...

One thing to notice is that there hasn't even been new God of War 3 artwork created yet. This looks like they took the symbol from the god of war artwork and just dropped the ps3 logo on it. Its definitely not official artwork from the game assets.

What if they're teasing Chains of Olympus for PS3? PSN perhaps? I don't see any other indication of a 3 or III in the artwork, but I'm excited either way.

How about instead of porting over Chains of Olympus to the PS2 -- Why don't they port it over to the PS3 w/ enhanced graphics??

If the PSP version was being ported I'd think that the 'ad' would have a Ready at Dawn logo somewhere on there (like it was when this was advertised on the back of the PS2 GoW2 insert) no?

no i don't think so God of War: Chains of Olympus will stay as a psp exclusive know why sony wants you to buy a psp for it so they can make profits from the psp console just like daxter and ratchet and clank size matters you get the idea
