N+ coming to PSN, but it'll take 'a while'

A producer at Atari noted that they are excited to work on PSN in the future. He pointed out the freedom developers have to create games on the Network. "The PSN has fewer restrictions on their incoming content (likely because it's struggling to catch up to the well-established XBLA) but again, on the PSN right now the indie designer has far more freedom to create the game that they imagine, whatever the size and shape." This kind of flexibility, we hope, is what will draw new exclusive content to the Network. We can't wait.

I'm assuming that's a screenshot of N+ on XBLA, in which case... Ugh. It looks way worse than I expected and way worse than N. Good thing the PSN lacks that lame 150mb limit. I'm looking forward to playing it in 1080p.

That is a picture from the PSP version of N+. The XBLA version is all of 13 MB so no problem with the size limit.
The freedom that Atari mentions is likely referring to the level editor in the game. Apparently Microsoft made the developer remove the ability to share custom levels late in the process. My guess is that this would not be an issue on PSN.

My bad, I forgot about the psp version. That does suck about the level editing, though. It would be cool if we got that, maybe it could be done through home.

It's amazing how people make comments without doing any research. "Hey look, an opportunity to bash xbox!" And yes, as someone pointed out, the Xbox version is incredibly small, so the "lame limit" isn't in effect.

Are you making an argument that the limit is, in any way, not lame? True, It hasn't effected N+, but it most certainly has other games. I remember fairly recently reading here that a developer was forced to downgrade the quality of their game's textures due to XBLA's restrictions, but not the PSN's. It just seems that a system which gives developers more freedom to do what they want leads only to higher quality games.

It may be catching up to Live, but at least we have servers and not P2P, that should be brought up ANYTIME anyone tries to badmouth the PSN

He words it as if the ONLY REASON PSN is so open and laxe is "to catch up with XBLA".
Had Atari been actually paying attention for the last 3 years they would have heard Sony talk about PSN being open etc. since the very beginning. That's the way they wanted it to be.
You think they are going to wait until they have X amount of PSN games and then all of the sudden stop being so open? Or all of the sudden slash the profit % that devs get like XBLA? ;)

now this is probably the best news i've seen all day.
