Rocketmen: Axis of Evil on PSN next week
Capcom just announced that Rocketmen: Axis of Evil will be hitting the PS Store on Thursday next week. The game won't cost you an arm or a leg, but it will set you back $10 in "human money."
The game, for those who don't know, is an arcade shooter based off Wizkids' constructible strategy game. Though this Rocketman game stays far away from the meticulous micromanagement of strategy games, it instead trades its old duds for straight up shooting. The game supports up to four player co-op both on and offline, and features customizable characters. Check out the beautiful cel-shaded graphics in the gallery below:

I liked it better when it was called SmashTV.

Honestly its just like Super Stardust except they took out the Spaceship and replaced it with people. So lets see, theres Super Stardust, Everyday Shooter, Blast Factor, and Nucleus. Now this...Boring
sean @ Feb 29th 2008 7:50PM
i already got blast factor, cash guns chaos, and super stardust so not pickin this up. and blast factor is good dont know why people usually look down on it. the motion controls in it work pretty good
sheamus @ Feb 29th 2008 8:22PM
4 player co-op, online and offline. No other PSN game does this. As long as it doesn't totally suck, that is why I will be picking it up on thursday.
Kabapu @ Feb 29th 2008 8:39PM
Calling All Cars ... granted, not "co-op" ... but four players on/offline.

Yes I'm aware of the missing "S".
There is no edit button, live with it.

Folks, lighten up with the nay-saying. The game looks like fun, it looks something like a dual analog stick shooter mixed with Gauntlet and throw in 4 player co-op a la Gauntlet. The way the enemies kind of drift in and so on looks very like the game mechanic in Gauntlet. For those of you too young to know, Gauntlet was a very popular 4 player co-op arcade game where you play standard sword and sorcery characters fighting ghosts and other wonderful monsters.
Arcade games have always been variations on a theme. Crap how many versions of Invaders and Asteroids have their been? Any game that features a rotating mobile fire base that fires outward at enemies or objects is simply Asteroids all dressed up. Any game that features vertical shooting at enemies or obstacles is simply a variant of Space Invaders. Sideways scrollers? Ha! Defender I say.
How many variations on Wolfenstien 3D and Doom do their have to be before the FPS game genre is dismissed as easily?
Everything old is new again. Next thing you know flares will be back in style...again...for the fourth time since the 70s...shudder!
Highlader @ Mar 4th 2008 2:15PM
Guys, it's Gauntlet with ray guns and aliens. Looks like a lot of fun. Why so negative? It's not like there are a lot of concepts in games. Vertical shooters, vertical scrollers (special case of vertical shooter), sideways scroller, rotational shooter (aka dual analog shooters), first person shooters, etc... How many first person shooters are there? Why play any of them when we can have Doom and Wolfenstien 3D for free? Asteroids is the mother of many games, any time you are a ship, plane, car/tank, person or whatever that moves around the screen, rotates and fires outwards - guess what, you're playing Ateroids, all dressed up perhaps, but Asteroids none the less. Sideways scrollers are all variations on Defender.
Everything old is young again....

Mr ESC, how can you not get access to any PSN store in Mexico,? when I can access all three territories from the UK, just setup up the accounts with an address in each territory. There are instructions all over the net on how to do it to do it. If you want to buy stuff, get them payment cards that'll be available soon.
jerses @ Mar 1st 2008 12:52PM
Mexico doesn´t have PSN. If we use the US PSN we can download demos but we can´t add funds to the wallet with a mexican credit card. This is strage because i use it to buy from amazon.com and other places but US PSN wont let me. Like you said we should wait for the PSNcards :S

What the hell is this "Cannon Spike" with out the famous capcom characters?
Brodie-san @ Mar 1st 2008 12:11PM
Capcom? They still need to redeem themselves on the PS3 in my book. Consider me cautious.
NACHO @ Mar 1st 2008 1:06PM
It's from Capcom and looks....good? As long as the XBLA version doesn't get exculsive characters :) sign me up.
matahtak @ Mar 1st 2008 4:32PM
Looks pretty good, I liked games like Expendable. 4 player offline co-op? I'm purchasing it.
Groundskeeper Willie @ Mar 1st 2008 6:30PM
Looks pretty neat, I'd probably buy it just for the online co-op. Don't think we're going to be seeing it in Europe for a while though :(
